Liked: clean. Plenty of restrooms and showers (though some were on other floors-- 2 & 4). Capsule itself was pretty roomy and the small shelves were helpful, though it could get a little warm. The location is a little out of the way, but frequent buses kept us well connected to everything we wanted to see. Disliked: little to no soundproofing making sleep difficult even with offered earplugs. The biggest downside was the mattress as it was thin and often had us waking up with more pains than we went to bed with. I think if this hostel upgraded it's beds it would make it a great place to stay. Also, be aware of the 200 yen a night fee that you have to pay at check-in. It is a Kyoto city requirement, but is not mentioned on the booking.com site. Payment can be made in coins or with credit card, but bills cannot be broken at the front desk. Conclusion: a good option for a night or two, but can be hard on the body.

- spacious room with its own A/C - clean bathroom - new furniture - comfortable bed - free towels and items (such as earplugs, comb,...) - hotel slippers

- the location is far away from the subway, but many busses nearby - no elevator - the common room is on the 5th floor, so anytime you want to work, hang out, or eat, you must go up the 80 stairs. quite tiring after all day walking outside

Very clean hotel. Booked the double cabin despite traveling solo and am glad that I paid extra for the space and not having to climb. Cabin comes with individually controlled air con. Sufficient toilet and shower cubicles. There is a lounge area where you can get hot n cold water and next to it is the laundry room. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The double cabins were separated by partition walls which had gaps on top, which means every small bit of sound can be heard throughout the dorm. Lounge temperature was not well regulated and it was often too cold to sit and eat my meals leisurely. Location of hotel is a bit off. Supermarket, food options and bus stop for bus to train station is 10 min walk away. There is a bus stop a a couple of minutes away with buses that can take you to some sights though.

It's a new hotel so all was tidy, clean, and the rate was cheap. I stayed in early June'24 at the female dorm. It seems to be well equipped and have good amenities. It'd be nice if they continue like this.

the beds and sinks are in the same room which is ok, but it obviously depends on the politeness of the guests. There was a girl blowing her hair late at night.

Location was nice. Close to Nijo castle and the Kyoto Royal Palace (both within walking distance), also easy to take bus/train elsewhere in Kyoto. Grocery store and multiple convenience stores nearby. My room was reasonably clean, bed was reasonably comfortable and staff were friendly.

Had trouble locating it initially, but I think it’s something to do with how it’s mapped on booking. If you can’t find it, cross the street. Helped another lost guest on same day I checked in. Would have been nice if guests could use common areas before/after their stays, stood out front in the rain for an hour waiting for 3pm check in. If it’s a concern about security, perhaps dorms should have card key access added. Also, my room door didn’t lock properly (broken by previous guest), staff were unaware but good about it and offered to let me store valuables in the office. Neither of these are real issues, I would stay here again.

I actually loved almost everything. The staff were very helpful, and everything was clean. You can get free clean towels, toothbrushes and toothpaste, razors, etc., every day. Everywhere was really clean, and the bed was super comfortable. There were some nice empty spaces around the bed where you could put some of your stuff

The only thing is that there's no locker to leave your stuff. If this were in another country, I probably couldn't do it, but since it's Japan, it wasn't a problem at all

+ very new and clean, the sinks were fingerprintless a lot of the time + toilets were also very clean, staff here seem to be conscientious of cleanliness + nijo is actually very central in kyoto, kind of equidistant to all the points of interest in kyoto. but there is nothing to do in the area + comfy, cozy capsule, bed is ok, pillow is soft, duvet is cozy, slept like a baby here. pull down curtain is effective in blocking out light + washing machine available

- equally far from the nearest two subway stations (nijo and marutamachi), more accessible by bus - no elevator, my room was on the highest level of the guest rooms, i had to carry luggage up 5 flights of stairs - lacking amenities such as fridge, kitchen, kettle (hot water is available at the front desk only...) - stairwell constantly smelt like smoke.. (they allow smoking on the top-most floor only so I'm not sure why...) - no bicycle parking :( (kyoto is very cyclable)

Clean, good facilities, I was lucky enough to never have to queue to use the facilities. The staff were amazing, provided food recommendations too which were exquisite. They had full size room like capsules (both single and double use). They provide the essentials which is great. There a nearby bus station (2min walk away) and a 7-11 (3-4 min walk away) where you can smoke. Nijo-Jo castle is in 15-18 min walk proximity. The city centre is 20-30 min by bus.

The noisy neighbours who didn’t seem to take notice that others might be sleeping despite it being 1am or 6am/7am/8am. There aren’t train stations nearby, but a few stops by bus.

Very solid capsule hostel not too far away from the center of Kyoto. Just pay those few extra yen and get the room with the double bed, table and an actual floor to keep and reorganize your luggage. Single bed sleeping units are okay, too, I guess (as good as capsule hostels can be), but the double bed is the real deal – even for a solo traveler! Toilets and showers were always clean and joy to use. No need to bring a bath towel. Hostel has 2-3 (can’t remember) washing machines with a drier.

Upper common area (with a dedicated smoking room) is nothing to write home about but that’s not why you are in Kyoto anyway. I would assume that living in upper floors might be a bit annoying: far away from the entrance, too close to the smoking room. But that’s just nitpicking (you can't actually smell the smoke outside the common area). Sleeping dorms can get a bit noisy with only “folding” doors (still lockable!) between you and the hall so bring earplugs and (ideally) a sleeping mask. But again: that applies to all capsule hostels.

It is a very good accommodation, very clean and the rooms are confortable although not very spacious for bags and others. The staff (not all) are not very friendly, normally I don't write bad reviews, and I also understand the cultural differences that might be between countries, but it doesn't take much effort to welcome someone in a better, more friendly and welcoming way? Pd.: Don't arrive early (before 3), tired and with 35 degrees with a real feeling of 42.
