Our room was spacious, impeccably clean, and had ample storage—plenty of room for suitcases and enough drawers and wardrobe space for a longer stay. The hotel’s location was ideal: tucked away in a quiet area, yet just a short walk to the main shopping district and not far from the fascinating Nishiki Market. Getting taxis or Ubers was easy, though a couple of drivers weren’t familiar with the exact address—I'd recommend keeping a hotel card handy to show them. In the evenings, we loved relaxing in the guest lounge with drinks and nibbles—such a nice touch. We also enjoyed a lovely dinner at the hotel’s restaurant near reception, which was perfect after a long day out. There is also a grocery-delicatessan shop on ground level where you can buy beer and wine and all sorts of yummy cheeses, and snacks - and they have a hamburger and salad bar there too and they really did make the best hamburgers! The view from our room deserves a special mention—not a cityscape, but a peaceful courtyard garden with birds fluttering in and out. Sitting on our deck in the late afternoon sun, enjoying that serene view, was simply magical. 😊

We stayed at GOOD NATURE HOTEL KYOTO for our honeymoon and couldn't have chosen a better place. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome—everyone was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel itself is spotless, beautifully designed and genuinely lives up to its eco-friendly philosophy in a way that feels thoughtful, not performative. We really appreciated the subtle touches that made a big difference—everything from the sustainable materials to the refillable amenities and conscious design choices. Just a heads-up for fellow travelers: in keeping with the eco-conscious approach, the hotel doesn't automatically provide items like toothpaste, so you’ll want to pack your own. The location is perfect—central but peaceful, with easy access to Kyoto's best neighborhoods and sights. We also loved the GOOD NATURE STATION downstairs. It became one of our favorite places to shop and explore, packed with local goods, snacks, and beautifully curated sustainable products. And the bed? One of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept on. After long days of walking and sightseeing, coming back to that room felt like a dream. All in all, GOOD NATURE HOTEL made our honeymoon extra special. We’d absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a serene, stylish and values-driven stay in Kyoto.

fantastic location - easily walkable to Gion and Nishiki market shopping area, close to lots of great restaurants and subway. Room was impeccably clean and modern rooms with lots of natural light and spacious for Japan ( we stayed in a deluxe terrace room). also has an air bridge to takashimaya which was convenient especially to stay out of the rain/heat.

would be good to have cafe open a bit earlier for coffee but you can also make this yourself in the room. also they gave us new PJ’s everyday even through we hung ours up to re-use. could save some washing if guests are happy to re-use!

We are a family of 4 and travelled around Japan staying at several hotels. This was by far the best hotel we stayed at. Spacious, clean, new, and located in a great area. Staff were super friendly. Will be recommending this hotel to others. So glad we found it!

The hotel's location was superb, being in such close proximity to major departmental stores, with a train station just beside it & the famous Nishiki market within a 10 minute walk. The ambience of the hotel is calming and the architects' vision of creating a green, sustainable space is evident everywhere you look in Good Nature Hotel. The rain-shower and generous tub were a bonus! We paid a little extra for our room balcony which was worth it, as the spot overlooked the lovely plant trelis and garden, making it a relaxing outlet after a busy day touring Kyoto. An ice maker & water dispenser on every floor was really thoughtful as well. Despite the hotel being a little pricier than others, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will absolutely book Good Nature Hotel again on our returning trip!

Given that the hotel is big on sustainability, you may need to request for additional amenities such as ironing board and pay for items such as toothbrush, hairbrush or razor kits. All up, a tiny inconvenience in exchange for a memorable stay!

Lovely hotel in a GREAT location close to ALL of the great shopping and Nishiki Market. Short walk to Gion. Very clean and comfotable. Nice to have a market downstairs and some dining options. Breakfast buffet was outstanding with a nice variety of choices. Staff was helpful. Short cab ride to train station.

Not much. The lounge is in an interesting location and we would have preferred more variety for snack options there--nice room, though. Wish there was a pool for our kids, but we were out a lot.

It is an amazing hotel, one of a kind as it has a big food store at the ground floor with all kind of delicacies, bar, restaurant, another floor for sweets and cosmetics, some clothing and one more floor with few restaurants, a great one for Kobe Beef called BuonAgio. We were also super lucky to be upgraded to a Deluxe Twin Room with Garden Terrace. Very spacious and beautiful room and amazing terrace facing Gion. If we were to stay in the regular deluxe twin room, it would have been less than half the size, no terrace, no view, so a totally different experience. Loved the toiletries - great shampoo and conditioner. They do not provide bottles of water as there is a dispenser in the lobby and the hotel offers thermos in the room that you can fill with water. No toothbrushes. No toothpaste. But they provide these great Japanese style slippers for the terrace - you can buy everything at reception.

The regular deluxe twin rooms are sooooo small.

Breakfast was very nice and broad selections of food, drinks and coffee machines. Mr Conceirge was very friendly and assisted us. Also Mr Conceirge defused a mentally unstable american asian "gender not specified" who was causing a scene with his obsurd language as it wasn't happy with the number of tourists in Japan. Give Mr Conceirge an award, his exceptional english speaking skills and good manners makes him an asset to the hotel. Good Location with direct access to times square without going out in the open.

Sad visitors who can't handle being alone but complains about everything.

Absolutely loved the atmosphere. The greenery everywhere makes you forget you're in the middle of the city. The rooms were comfortable. The breakfast was great! I was worried because I'm vegan but they had allergens mentioned everywhere (except fish, I believe, so I steered clear from things that might have fish in it) and had a vegetarian mark for everything (most of the time it was easy to figure out which things were vegan)

I have just two tiny complaints. Balcony chairs and the blanket. I was very excited about the balcony since I booked a more expensive room to have it, but the chairs were pretty uncomfortable and I ended up not using it as much, which felt like a shame. Also the comforter cover didn't close so the comforter kept falling out of it and I woke up one morning inside the comforter cover lmao

This hotel is centrally located on a busy touristy area - plenty of restaurants and shopping options around, but also lots of a people. It's close to train and subway, so if you plan on going around Kyoto or to its surroundings that's an advantage. Despite being so central, the sound insolation was great and we couldn't hear any disturbing noise at night time. The SPA is excellent, as well as a lot of the facilities towards adults or single couples.

We were traveling with a 10 month old baby, and I expected that given our bigger room we'd have a cot to place the baby, but instead the hotel uses 2 bed guards that can be optionally installed, which was a let down given how the facilities otherwise are very well equipped. I'd also say the area is not ideal for families with babies, given the amount of pedestrians in the streets, even with a baby carrier it was more challenging than other, quieter, areas of the city. If you have a toddler that doesn't need a stroller anymore it's probably fine.
