It was so nice to have a larger apartment with a small kitchen. Great addition with a washing machine including some soap. And the heated function to dry clothes in the bathroom is awesome. Great location.

The beds are hard. So hard we asked for extra blankets to pad it up a bit. It’s unfortunate because everything else was great. Also since there’s a kitchen some basics like salt and pepper and even some cooking oil would be great. When you’re only there 3-4 days it’s nice not to have to buy all that. Many places supply it.

Very nice apartment in a good location with great access to public transportation and a supermarket close by. According to Japanese standards it was quite big, but still there was only limited space for the suitcases and their content. The kitchen was well equipped.

The beds had a good size but the mattresses were far to hard. Therefore I would not recommend the apartment for people who sleep preferably on their side. The reception staff could be more educated about restaurants in close proximity as we would not get a recommendation the first night and learned over time that there are plenty of opportunities.

I could stay here again, it exceeded our expectations but then I also booked an apartment for 4 people eventhough it was just the 2 of us for extra space. The location was good and a short bus ride to kyoto station or walking distance to underground station. 7/11 around the corner and yamato transport 4 mins walk to use luggage forwarding for suitcases. The microwave and kitchen facilities are good and the washing machine and dryer room (bathroom converts into laundry dryer room) is really handy to have. Highly recommend the 4 people apartment for 2.

The dryer room takes a long time to dry clothes so I can understand why some people would prefer using a coin laundrette. The water in the bathtub might be blue so be careful when running a bath.

The location was quiet and convenient, the staff was helpful, and the room and facilities were adequate. There are plenty of nice restaurants within walking distance. I would stay there again if I could secure one of their suites, which offer a better layout.

The desk was not near an electrical outlet, so I had to move it in front of the sink to avoid having wires laying across the room. I would have preferred one fewer bed and a chair or sofa to relax in. The room was lovely but basically just for working and sleeping, not relaxing. Also, though I stayed for more than one week, they did not offer cleaning (other than towels) during the stay.

I would like to thank the staff for assisting us with any queries we had, such as running low on daily necessities (toilet paper, body soap etc) as we were staying for an extended period of time and for helping us to the best of their abilities when my mum had lost her phone. My heartfelt thanks to the staff.

Unfortunately, the electronic lock was slightly faulty (do note this faulty lock did not affect the basic function of locking the door). It would be great if the electronic lock could be replaced/repaired. Otherwise, the door locks had no issues

We all loved the location and style of this hotel. It was super convenient to either walk to a station or a quick 15 minute walk to Nishiki Market. The style and layout of the room was really nice. Everything seemed very clean and up to date. It was a little crowded with five people, but we made it work. The beds were a little hard for my tastes, but you can go ask for extra blankets so that helps soften the bed some. Checkin and checkout was super easy and the staff were very helpful!

Hotel Mondonce Kyoto is a small service apartment hotel. Its about 10min walk from Gojo station. They have a 24hr reception. The room has a balcony which is really nice. Eventhough the standard room that we had was a bit cramped for 4 adults, the balcony help to make it less tight. There is a nice supermarket a short walk away called Fresco which had fruits, vegetables and meat for sale. Not the usual convenience store like Lawsons. We managed to cook a simple meal. The kitchenette was small but sufficient. Room has a washing machine but not dryer. Clothes have to be dried in the bathroom which has this brilliant heating, drying and fan function. By hanging clothes over the bathtub and DRY function, clothes are prefectly dry in 4 hrs. No need to iron as clothes are not crinkled compared to drying clothes in machine. Down the down, there is a Michelin star Ramen place which is really good.

Reception mostly do not speak English. So used Google translate. We only managed to get a standard room which is a bit tight for 4 adults. Only 1 suitcase can be kept open. The other suitcases have to be kept in the cupboard which is fortunately big enough to put all the unopened suitcases. We had to place all our clothes on the shelf and hangers in the cupboard which is OK.

Hotel Mondonce was conveniently located. We easily walked to the the hotel from Kyoto Station and were greeted by welcoming staff at the front desk. The room was comfortable and satisfactorily sized with two double beds, a small dining table, kitchenette with cooking facilities. The bathroom and laundry were clean and easy to use. The surrounding area was easy to navigate with a small grocery store a few minutes away. The back streets were quaint and charming and we enjoyed navigating them. Transport options were nearby for the usual attractions such as Kinkakuji, Ginkakuji, etc. and the hotel was only a 30 minute walk to Kiyomizudera.

There was nothing not to like about Hotel Mondonce.

Stylish room with space to spread out. Comfortable bed and good temperature control in the room. Washing machine in the bathroom and drying room (clever dual use of the shower room dried clothes in a few hours) were very convenient. Location in a quiet residential lane but very close to main roads and stations for taxis and trains, but also plenty of things within walking distance (e.g. Gion, main shopping, Nishiki Market, Kyoto station, Kiyomizudera temple). Supermarkets 2 mins walk away.

Nothing really, it was a great base for our 5 night stay.

The hotel is centrally situated with easy access to all major points of interest. It is very clean and the staff is great. Our group had everything we needed. The apartments are quite spacious for Japanese standards and there was a lovely balcony.

They do not serve breakfast but there are lots of accessible restaurants in the area and a suparmarket nearby so we had plenty of choice for eating.
