The reception area was very close to the train station which made it very easy to check in. They were able to hold our luggage and drop it off at the house so once it became time to check in all our belongings were there for us. This was fantastic as we arrived at 9am so we were able to begin exploring Kyoto. The home was very comfortable for our group of 6 and jr was great to stay all together. The home was excellent and very spacious. Very glad we stayed here!

the location was okay. Convenience store very close by which was great. About a 15 minute walk or short uber ride to anywhere.

The location is perfect - near the Shijo subway stop for access to Kyoto station, a quick walk to Shijo Kawaramachi shopping, close to Nishiki market, and an easy walk to Gion. There are three convenience stores and two excellent bakeries close by as well as plenty of restaurants to choose from. The kitchen in this house comes with two hotplates and a rice cooker as well as a decent mini fridge/freezer so you can cook easily. The house is quiet with comfy beds and the sound of the Bukkoji temple bell in the morning. There's a glimpse of the temple roof from the rear bedroom upstairs which is charming too. The house manual is available online in english via a qr code, so using the heating, washing machine etc is easy. I can't say enough good things about Tasokare machiya house - by far my favourite accommodation in Kyoto and highly recommended.

It would have been very helpful to have a map of the local area in English. Along with some information about the local area, such as .. nearest train stations, nearest temples/shrines, local restaurants, bars etc.

Location, house, etc were spotless.

There is a lot of friction with the key pickup. They had promised they would transport our bags to the place, but because we got there at 3:10, they would not transport them.

Nice refurbished machiya house with modern and authentic Japanese townhouse. Nice and comfortable futon bed. Convenient with two bathrooms for a group of travellers. Easy check-in counter near Kyoto Station. Well equipped with instructions to use the appliances. Well managed by Machiya Inn & Hotel.

The space is limited to put our luggages and the stair is quite steep.
