Great location in my favorite part of Kyoto. Right on the river. We selected the more expensive river view rooms and it was well worth it. The ability to be guaranteed a great river view, along with the onsen and location, was why I picked this hotel and I was very happy with my choice. The rooms was comfortable and quiet, with a couch at the view end, though not enough storage spade to unpack. Breakfast was very good. I think the Japanese items were better than the Western items.

Check in was not well executed. Even though there were perhaps eight parties there, they did not accept check in until right at 3 pm, and then had only one person available to handle check in. Fortunately we were at the front of the queue. Front desk service was uneven. Some spoke pretty good English others did not. Some were friendlier than ohers. I asked for restaurant recommendations and was not thrilled with the result.

The breakfast was amazing, so worth adding! The location was great, near 2 different subway lines and close enough to attractions yet far enough away for some peace. The hotel sits near a water canal and it was so beautiful to go walk around each day. They were very kid friendly and were so kind/helpful to us and our 1 year old daughter, especially at meal times. The rooms were so nice and the onsen/bath experience was perfect after a long day out. I wish I could have lived in this hotel.

Nothing truly we raved about this hotel and we are not hotel people.

Absolutely incredible room, the best of all our travels in Japan. We had one of the garden suites, large with a sitting area and beautiful bathroom, quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was delicious everyday and location was excellent on the river and near multiple train lines.

A little far from Kyoto Central station but not too bad

- The hotel has nice onsens, and what we really appreciated was the laundry facilities. Right next to the baths, there are several washer-dryer machines where you can load your laundry and head to the bath. It’s convenient, quick, and very affordable. The hotel even has an online page where you can monitor your laundry in real-time. - The hotel is within walking distance of a wide range of restaurants and cafes. - Two metro stations are just a few minutes away, making it quick and easy to get around.

Great location, close to subway station, close to shopping area and many good restaurants and pubs with walking distance. I like the hotel is at a quiet street, staffs are very friendly and helpful. Close to a great bakery shop ShinShindo for great western breakfast. I will highly recommend this hotel, I will come back again.

The breakfast is not as good as the breakfast in another hotel in the area.

Clean large room - room had a little seating area which was nice. It fit large x1 and medium x1 luggages very comfortably. Shower area was separate from the tub, which we much preferred!

Laundry rooms were always packed and had 2 machines on the ladies side and only 1 machine on the male side. Do expect a wait for the laundry rooms but everything else was good :)

A cute hotel in a good location. Many cafes and restaurants outside. Our room #009 was in the basement buy it was very clean with lovely bathroom. The room size of the hotel was ok…There is a public bath and vending machines in the basement with microwave as well. The staff are friendly but this hotel doesn’t have 24/7 reception but there are machines for self check in / check out. We shipped our luggage from Osaka to this hotel in Kyoto and when we arrived we found our bags in our room waiting for us. Thank you all at Solaria Nishitetsu hotel. You made our stay enjoyable.

Staff were friendly and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a buffet, with a wide range of choices. Also had an omelette station to cook to your need. The room was good, and the shower was excellent. There was an ice machine and a cold water despenser. TV had a wide variety of digital services, like netflix and Disney as long as you have accounts. Great location, close to many excellent restaurants and shopping area, and only 15 mins walk to Gion (old town) district

Bath was a deep sit up bath, so not able to lie down easily. Common in Japan. It's not a big issue, but I'm just noting for other people to be aware, but the rain shower is fantastic. There is no common bar to sit in, so have to go out. No formal laundry service, only coin laundry machines. Only found 1 machine in basement.

Kyoto is my absolute favorite among the large Japanese cities, and when in Kyoto, this hotel is always my first choice. I usually book the same type of room. While it’s slightly more expensive than I’d wish, it’s absolutely worth it: always perfectly clean, and the staff are consistently smiling and incredibly helpful. What I like? The room was spotless, calm and quiet. The hotel staff were exceptional — genuinely warm, attentive, and helpful. The location is ideal, within walking distance of everything, yet offering a peaceful riverfront retreat after a busy day. Breakfast was delicious and well organized...

Honestly, there’s very little to criticize. Just the price point — slightly higher than average — but considering the quality of service and comfort, it remains a solid value.

We got the garden suite and it had plenty of room. Love the tatami seating area and the bathroom since it has a view of a small walled garden (fake plants but still nice). The fridge for the suite was stocked with beer, juice and water. Towels and pajamas were refreshed each day. The women Onsen had both small indoor and outdoor baths with very clean facilities. The grocery store is across the bridge where you can buy fruits, pre-made meals etc.. The nearest subway was 4 min. away. We were able to take subway/trains to Fushimi Inari, Gion, Nishinki market and bamboo forest without much difficulties.

Only a few washing machines so we had to wait a bit.
