This place was an absolute joy. We booked a Corner room and it was huge by Japan standards. Bathroom had a large soaking tub and a wet room shower. Views from these corner rooms are great, oh and it had a balcony that wrapped the entire length of the room. The lounge on the 2nd floor was great with free alcohol and delicious desserts.

Nothing. The location is great, the rooms were clean, felt like great value for the money. Hotel is about 100 yards from a subway station so easy access to public transportation and only a few stops from Kyoto Station if you need to hop on the Shinkansen to Tokyo. Highly recommend this property.

The hotel overall and the customer service we experienced were excellent. Rooms were magnificent - comfortable, clean, modern, with luxury toiletries. The photos of the accommodation online are true and live up to expectations. The housekeeping was first class, paying attention to all the little details, being considerate with our belongings and being polite and accommodating. Every interaction with hotel staff was positive, and the buffet breakfast was also good.

The hotel is on a busy road, so there was some traffic noise at night - earplugs can come in handy, but this did not detract from the overall experience we had at this hotel.

Everything about this hotel was fabulous! The location was perfect, the staff incredibly kind, the room was beautiful, modern and clean. We were offered to upgrade to a larger room at check in for a minimal charge and I'm so glad we did, the extra space and view were so nice to have! Having daily tea service and early evening beverage service with appetizers was such a lovely touch! The onsite bathhouse was relaxing after a long day of walking Kyoto.

We added on the breakfast for 1 day and it was a bit pricier than I feel it should have been. However, the restaurant staff was incredibly kind.

Lovely design, great location, very nice lounge with friendly and courteous staff. In-house bathing facilities were a plus. Spotlessly clean. We would definitely recommend this hotel and intend to stay again.

One male staff member at the front desk on Monday evening was quite rude. While the hotel has a special smoking lounge, he said that there was none and that smoking was not allowed in Kyoto. This was not a language issue but misdirection; he seemed to have a personal dislike of smoking. It came across as very judgmental and was the only negative element during our stay.

The rooms are very well equipped and the bed was super comfortable. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive to guests needs and even helped us find a small item we had mislaid. The service standards are very high at every level from housekeeping to front desk. The location was excellent for being able to walk to many sightseeing and shopping locations and very close to the subway and bus stops for longer trips. There are lots of restaurant options on the doorstep or within 5 -10 minutes walk of the hotel and a couple of convenience stores within a minute or two. We felt welcome and valued, and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel.

The lounge offering was delightful, and we enjoyed a visit or two for drinks. One of us had an afternoon sweet cabinet and cocktail time small tasters from the restaurant. Unfortunately there was no wheat free option.

The Royal Park Hotel was one of the best Hotels we have stayed in and we have stayed in many. The staff were magnificent, very helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms were lovely and inviting. One thing that you do need when you are busy sightseeing all day is a comfy bed and the beds were great, drifting off to sleep was very easy. Happy Hour was great in the evenings, a lovely lounge to wind down after a busy day and meet other like minded travellers. The Hotel was central to many things and most were walking distance. When we come back to Kyoto will definitely be staying again. Loved it!

There was not one thing to dislike. Great Hotel.

The lounge was excellent - I love the perks of exex lounge. Coffee there - great and I’m an Ozzie so I know my coffee. My room was huge and amenities excellent .staff downstairs were awesome. Close to railway - massive good!

Noise - I’m a really fussy traveller. I only go for comfort and I research my accomm really well. Only a few comments. The noise on the main street was bad so I asked to change rooms to a much higher floor - ask about getting a room that’s not facing Main Street. The breakfast wasn’t buffet style (disappointing but still ok). Like anywhere in Japan, we ready for a firm bed.

Excellent location, whether it's to make use of public transport or to explore the city on foot. The hotel situates about 5min walk from the junction (Karasuma Oike) of the 2 metro lines in Kyoto, and is easily accessible when travelling by bus as well. The Kamo River is about 20 - 25min on foot. Service was great, and reliable. We could always find someone to help when in need. Many chic hotels may show great pictures, but the true essence of service is to be waited on, and not to be kept waiting for service. Here we were pampered. The breakfast was either American or Japanese. The quantity was just right. Though food variety may be repetitive, we actually found it quite convenient as we did not have to bother with many choices. The room was spacious, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The package we booked included lounge access in 3 time slots per day, a real haven after some exploration in the city.

We had the western-style breakfast some days and that was perfectly pleasant with a range of different food items. On our last day we had the Japanese breakfast which was fantastically interesting and delicious. Very memorable thank you! The lounge experience - afternoon rea and pre-dinner cocktails was a wonderful experience. The snack items were delicious and the whole lounge experience was exceptional. Our room was fabulous. Roomy and very comfortable. Immaculate. For us train travelers the location was excellent. There is a train stop very close by.
