Very centrally located, the nicest staff ever, and everything was very accommodating. We’ve stayed in four different hotels in Japan thus far, and this was by far the largest room. We had space for our luggage, a closet (which is rare), a decent sized bathroom and shower, and still room to move around. The bed was comfy as well.

The walls were too thin. Twice we work up to hearing other people having sex past midnight, which was both frustrating and very gross. One night at 4 am a group of guys came down the hallway drunk and it woke us up as well. I wish the noise restrictions were better enforced.

The staff were so nice and friendly! Excellent service! We arrived a couple hours early and stored our luggage with them, when we came back they had already moved the things to our room for us. Breakfast was delicious. A nice mix of western and japanese foods served buffet style. In terms of location, it's super convenient, extremely close to the main station.

Everything was good! You can see the hotel is a little old, but it's kept really clean. We didn't hear much noise, but walls are on the thinner side.

Just in front of both the JR station and the bus terminal. Very convenient. We had an early bus to catch, to our destination Takamatsu. We liked cotton sleep wear - a hybrid of pajama and yukata.

Just one thing. They could have offer coffee. Green tea bags were there in our private room, but no coffee was to be found.

Staff are the most helpful of any hotel I have stayed in. They looked after our luggage for 4 days whilst we were climbing in the Northern Alps, and were always polite and helpful.

Rooms are small.

Kind, helpful staff, who were patient with our mistakes. While the rooms were on the older side, they felt classy and were perfectly comfortable. Great location near the station, restaurants, castle.

Window for ventilation worked for us but offered limited control.

Definitely in need of an update, fairly old fixtures and fittings. Check out is 10am which is too early in my opinion (although common in Japan)

What a quaint yet luxurious stay. It had the ideal mix of modern and traditional ambience. We would definitely stay here again. Matsumoto is a gem! Chic, modern and the accommodation was everything we wanted. The breakfast was delicious. So centrally located. Spacious rooms with immaculate cleanliness.

Perfect experience for us. Very close to station; terrific staff; large room (compared to Tokyo); and laundry for washing. Great restaurants nearby.
