We stayed here for a night as we were about to take the Alpine Route. It was an ideal place to get ready. A good location--walking distance from the Castle and the Kusama exhibit. A fabulous onsen as well made it perfect. And they had a really great breakfast with both Japanese and American choices.

Cleanliness, staff friendliness although they can't speak English, they try to help us. Good breakfast and also complimentary beverage, Ramen and ice cream. That was amazing complimentary welcome.

Location is convenient. It is a short walk from the Matsumoto Station and from food outlets. There’s a family mart right across the road. The hotel has onsen on the 9th floor. You get free ice cream there. Use of laundry machines, located in both the male & female onsen is FOC. Dryer is ¥100 per half hour. You can monitor the use of these machines on your phone! There is also welcome drinks, good morning drinks, etc. Also, there is free soba for supper between 9:30pm to 11pm. Parking is convenient too.

The way the queen size bed is positioned - the longer side against the window - makes it very difficult for the person sleeping inside to get in and out.

We stayed at Dormy Inn Matsumoto during our visit to the city and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The hotel is conveniently located about 10 minutes on foot from Matsumoto Station, with plenty of restaurants nearby, all within easy walking distance. Most of the city’s major sights, including Matsumoto Castle, are also just a short walk away, making it an ideal base for exploring. One of the highlights of our stay was the onsen on the top floor, a perfect way to relax after a day of sightseeing. We also appreciated the thoughtful complimentary amenities such as free late-night ramen and ice cream. Our room was surprisingly spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. Even though our room faced the main road, we experienced no traffic noise and enjoyed a quiet, restful night. Check-in was easy and efficient, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We would gladly stay here again if we return to Matsumoto. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed the location and the breakfast food in the hotel. We enjoyed the City Art Museum's ground with art work of Yayoi Kusama! the city park near the performance center, the castle. We also enjoyed hotel's onset on the top of the floor especially the outdoor one.

We wish we had more time in this town, we only spent one night here. We also did not have enough information about opening hours of the city museum. We should visited the City Museum on the arrival day, then visit Castle next day, since it turned out the City Museum takes one day off per month and it happened to be the day we were planning on visiting it. There are actually a lot of art museums near Matsumoto too. But when we called the closest one, we were told that it was closed due to remodel.

Breakfast selection a bit narrow

We did not have breakfast at the Dormy Inn but the menu looked really good. We did enjoy the complementary ramen in the evening. The kids also enjoyed yogurt drinks after the hot spring. All of us have enjoyed the hot spring! Although it is small but it is wonderful to have an outdoor one too! The only thing we found somewhat annoying was the constant background music in the hot spring room. We understand it is supposed to be soothing but we would have preferred silence. We highly recommend the Inn for its location, cleanliness, efficient and helpful staff, hot spring, welcoming treats and good price! They even lend us umbrellas when it rained! We also appreciate the fact that they responded to our question by email and accommodated our request. They took care of our luggage before check-in and after check-out time. What wonderful service! Thank you very much! We highly recommend Dormy Inn Matsumoto.

The Onsen is an amazing experience.

The beds are not so comfortable.

+ about 5 mins walk from the station + About 10 mins walk to Matsumoto castle + Free ice cream and popsicles + Coin laundry + Lovely view of the mountains from our room + Nice touches and room design incl. Welcome sweets in the fridge, green tea powder, large entry separate from main room + We had to book an additional room last minute and it was a surprise bargain! More than 6x less than what we originally paid + Would definitely stay here again and recommend it
