The hotel is nice, clean, the staff tries very hard to give you a good experience. there is parking nearby and the cost is low. One of the two rooms we booked was in an executive level room, so we got entrance to the executive lounge which included free drinks and snacks. there is an option to go to the hotel Onsen in the evening, but we didn't try it.

The staff knows very little English, if at all. They didn't have an extra blanket for us. The décor feels old and out of date. But, the price is low and for a one night stop it was fine.

A minor point, but the hotel does not have its own onsen but has a regular shuttle to a sister hotel that does.

4-star upscale hotel not far from Matsumoto station. Easy walk to Matsumoto Castle as well as Nawate and Nakamachi shopping streets. Superb breakfast but with limited options for vegans / vegetarians; Japan is generally not a friendly place for them.

Given how posh the hotel is, our triple room seemed ordinary and was smaller than expected. They have washing machines and dryers but the latter are not that efficient in drying clothes.

Overall good overnight stay - spacious room, beds (especially for Japan) reasonably soft, excellent blind-out curtains, good bathroom amenities. Concierge super-helpful, free shuttle bus to station nice touch (though it's an easy 8-10' walk). For type of hotel quite good breakfast buffet spread.

Two real minus points, one minor - room ventilation: while on can open the windows (and in the cooler season like now this was helpful), the road and teain are noisy - but air conditioning is totally inadequate, too little fresh air and not cooling enough - height of bathroom - very low, for tall people like me showering is a bit a challenge As others wrote, the hotel is south of the station, while all sights are north / east - and there is no immediate bus stop. But can walk, or take hotel shuttle to station

They upgraded us to the top floor which included free drinks. The breakfast is good value and the staff are so kind. The price is good. I found large beds hard to find in some hotels here.

It is a bit dated, but still very comfortable.

I did not enjoy the breakfast as it quite chaotic to order an omelette and the different types of breakfast was limited, unfortunately

Very modern and everything in very good condition. Good heating. View of city and mountains from room. Kettle and tea/coffee. Evening meal in hotel's Chinese reataurant excellent, and likewise breakfast. Good price for the standard.

Nothing really, except room slighlty small.

Very comfortable room in the executive suite which gave us access to complimentary drinks and snacks in the early evening. Quiet room, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Easy 15 minute walk to the castle and close to many good restaurants, the station and other attractions.

It doesn’t have an Onsen but offers trips to a 5* hotel with a beautiful onsen. So I’m not sure this is an advantage or disadvantage. Breakfast was ok but I do miss well cooked omlet

Hotel Buena Vista really puts out a fantastic breakfast with a wide variety of great options. The breakfast paired with a top notch staff really made for a great stay.

The rooms felt dated.
