The interior design was luxurious and highly detailed in lacquer, marble, 2-tone chrome...similar to the old Capital or Okura before refurb. There are original chairs and light fixtures here,as well. I think the Nara Royal used to be on the edge of town overlooking the ancient Prefectural Halls in the rice fields (and on top of a natural hot spring)...now it is in town but close to 2 major thrifting shops! Service was top notch the whole way through.

We did not have a problem with anything at all except we did an use our phones to translate a bit (asking for ice buckets or mid-day room makeup.💕.....the cleaning team are quite incredible!! The front desk can handle check in and check out in English. I really want to go back to this hotel which is the prototype for Regal Oriental Kowloon in Hong Kong....except this one is in perfect shape.

Exceptional staff ( thank you Moro). Comfortable beds and fantastic large bathroom with full size bath and shower with brilliant pressure. Close to Mawson's and Maccas if needed. Excellent hair dryer too. 2 large 2nd hand stores just 5 mins walk away too

1 PowerPoint between the 3 beds ( family room) no usb points. Realise it is an older hotel but is charming so bought myself an extension cord to sort problem( local 2nd hand shop had brand new ones) Little bit out of the way, 900m to train station and 1 stop to Nara park

Most of the receptionistw were very friendly, helpful and polite. Exceptional of all was Justyna! She was polite, helpful, interested and self motivated to make our trip best. Also the lady in Sunday morning helped us very much with the taxi and all. So sweet experience from all of you. Thank you. The bed was soft but bed linen is not very ...helpful.

The hotel is of a certain age and needs renovation. First is the carpet in the whole floor of the entrance and reception. It is molded and smells. Please remove it. Carpets also do not help people moving with wheeled luggage. Common baths needs renovation in the area of showers. Rooms need intensive carpet cleaning or replacement. Toilet/bathroom appliances are quite old and need care. Maybe 25years old.

The staff! Absolutely lovely and helpful. They also were delightful with our toddler. Comfortable clean room with a luxurious atmosphere. The onsen was great experience as well!

Though very luxurious, it was a little dated. A bit yellowing wallpaper and such. But OMG do the staff and the garden with waterfalls and various small indoor gardens make up for it!

The onsen at basement is a plus for those who wanted to experience japan culture and a quick charge for those exhausted after one day work

Room is small as most other japanese hotel, especially the washroom. Cannot even fully open my 31-inch luggage.

So glad we chose this hotel. Rooms veers very clean and cosy, beautiful onsen was a highlight and the breakfast was amazing. It was a 10min walk from the centre which we were so glad about as the centre is bustling with activity. Easy to hire bikes from hotel too. We’ll be back for sure!

Onsen was a great experience, front desk staff was exceptional. When they realized that they had inadvertently charged us twice for our reservation, they reached out immediately to notify us and correct the issue. Very gracious and kind staff.

We did not realize that we needed to make reservations for dinner so missed experiencing a lovely restaurant in the hotel and got turned away by the hostess which was a bit awkward.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Royal Nara Hotel. The rooms were clean and had everything we needed. We had a twin room, which was very large (by Japanese hotel standards) and the beds were big with good pillows. Also a top sheet (really like this over the no top sheet option which seems to be common). Our room was a little tired but that is reflected in the reasonable price and didn’t matter in the slightest. The (free) segregated sauna/spa was a real bonus. I didn’t think we’d use it but turned out to be great and we really enjoyed it. Excellent way to give the Onsen/spa experience a go. All the team we dealt with at the hotel were very polite and helpful. We walked to several of the major sites (took about 35mins). Excellent Yakatori spot (DeeFuu) is a 5 min walk away. This hotel is a very good option if you are staying in Nara.

It was a 10-15 minute walk from the train station which felt like an eternity after a long day, suitcases and two small children. No shops nearby, a few local restaurants in the neighbourhood, a Lawson and a McDonald's.

The room was a terrific size for 4 people. The beds and couch were comfortable with enough space left in the room to still move around. The bathroom was spacious. Staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was worth the money.

That you couldn't wear a swimming costume in the hot springs.
