Absolutely stunning! A charming and beautiful traditional house that works perfectly as a guest house. The Staff was super friendly, the breakfast was delicious, and all the installations, including the room and common areas, were extremely clean and neat, making you feel like home with its familiar vibes. Our room was the biggest in the house, so beautiful we couldn't stop taking pictures of it, extra big for the two of us and super comfortable. We only regret not staying longer, because we'd have liked to enjoy the room a bit more. Definitely will come back and spend more nights! Also, it is just a short walk from Nara Park, Naramachi and the train station as well, a super convenient location. A great price-quality ratio!

They warn you about the noise from the street, but we didn't feel it too badly, and our room was the one facing the street. Regardless, the staff provides you with earplugs in case of necessity, so even if there's a bit of traffic noise, is tolerable.

The location - in btw Keisei Station and JR Narita Station, short walk from shopping and restaurant arcades, walking distance or a few minutes bus commute to Nara Park - made this lodgings a true find. Not to mention hospitality, lovely spacious room (me and my friend used a superior Japanese style room) and the overall atmosphere of the place. We did not notice any noise inconvenience although our room faced the main street. Comfy and pleasant.

A small minus would be the shower/ bathroom facilities- a bit wabi sabi ;-) and the other guests did not necessarily kept it very clean. That said, the lodging was great value for the money and I’d be happy to use it again.

If you are lucky enough that Yuzan has an opening book it! It is a lovely Japanese 100 year old house the owners have converted to a guesthouse/hostel. It feels like you are staying in a home. The owners are friendly and speak English well. We arrived 3.5 before check-in but my husband was very sick with a head cold. They kindly cleaned our room quickly so my husband could lie down. There is a full kitchen to use with stove top, microwave, fridge, dishes, coffee and tea all day. There is a lovely lounge area to use. There are shared toilets and showers but I never had to wait for either and the water is hot. Wifi worked great. Their breakfast to order is only 600Y with eggs, toast, yogurt and jam/butter. Yuzan is located minutes from the train station and we walked to all the sights within Nara Park. I highly recommend this guesthouse!

Can't think of anything I didn't like!

I loved staying there! The guesthouse is so charming and classically Japanese, you'll want to sit in the garden all morning if the weather is nice. The living room and kitchen feel like ones you'd find at home, and the breakfast was yummy and excellent value! Special mention deserved by the owners, who were absolutely lovely. It's the kind of place where you'll be greeted with "okaerinasai!" after you come back from your day out, and you'll feel that personal touch behind it. Also, the shower was perfect, just what a tired traveller needs. Will definitely be back if I'm in Nara again.

This didn't affect my experience but bear in mind that to access some areas of the guesthouse, you need to briefly leave the building so if you're staying here during the colder months just be prepared for that.

This guesthouse goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and comfortable! They stored our luggage for us, had bikes that we could rent for the day very cheaply, and let us use the common space after check out. In addition to the fact that the beds in the mixed dorm were comfy and the curtains give you a fair amount of privacy. The house is set up well with the showers, laundry, and kitchen separated from the dormitory. Overall, it was better than expected stay!

We stayed in the mixed dorm so I woke up early from people leaving. But nothing unexpected in a dorm room. The good news is that it’s only 6 people to a room and everyone was very respectful (no talking, just packing).

This is a very cute traditional japanese house in a busy street, making us feel in a protected bubble. The guest house is well equipped with a kitchen and living room, the rooms are big with a lot of space. Everything was great. You are a good 20 minute walk from Nara Park and Naramachi, but pretty close to any transportation

It is very cold to go to the bathroom, since you have to go outside to reach the other part of the house. Also, bed spaces are not “closed” area and the curtain doesn’t prevent the light and sounds from the other people to reach you. Bring a sleeping mask and earplugs!

Beautiful guest house, traditional Japanese building style. The kitchen was very 70s, it was so cute! Living room was cute as well with desks, books, sofa, coffee table area etc. Facilities were good, staff were lovely. Dorms were good as well. Location is super central, very close to deer park and main shopping streets without being in the middle of them.

Washing machine didn't wash my clothes :( maybe that was my fault for not understanding the Japanese washing machine but I followed all the instructions.

It's an extremely cozy environment in an old Japanese house. The rooms are well-lit and heated/cooled. The common area is really spacious with sofas, tables, and tatami. The breakfast is a good addition you can purchase for a fair value, but the best thing, IMHO, was the bike rental. For 500¥, you can ride all day, and because the city is quite small and self-contained, it makes for the perfect transportation even in winter.

The shower room is a bit cold during winter.

The room was very clean and offered a great view of an in-house Japanese garden. The accommodation had everything you needed, cleanliness, convenience, and a great location near all the attractions. You can easily visit them just by walking. The room was spacious, comfortable, and included storage space for personal belongings. This accommodation provides a great overall experience.

There were no negative aspects.

A great place overall! The location is very convenient and the house has a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. The kitchen is well equipped, and the living room is cosy. There is also plenty of space. Bike rental is very convenient and affordable. Free tea and coffee.

The room we stayed in had a slight odour of dampness, which I found a bit of distracting. I believe the problem is temporary though, as the rest of the house smelled nice.
