Amazing location. The view of the outside from the rooms is amazing - all you can see (at this time of the year) is snow and the mountains. Kaiseki dinner with unlimited drinks (good variety) was good - and they catered to vegetarians too. Nice public bath - with again the same unique view of the snow capped sorroundings. The room itself was spacious and could easily have taken 3 people.

The presentation and the star gazing at night afterwards (as well as the walk in the afternoon) is only in Japanese - so difficult if you are a foreigner.

A convenient place for a night stay so we have more time to enjoy the alpine instead of doing a day trip, bearing in mind the waiting time for each different mode of transport along the route. The hotel offers onsen with spectacular view of the mountains. Also organise guided walk, star glazing but we didn't get to do so because of the snow and cloudy night. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Hotel is dated but I would say it is clean.

Had a comfortable stay with great views of the mountains and the jap style dinner with free flow alchohol, very fresh sashimi and good quality beef was exceptional! The staff were very friendly and warm. Special compliments to front desk staff (Moe) for her kindness in helping us throughout our stay whenever we faced difficulties, making recommendations for our itinerary and going the extra mile. One of the most genuine and friendly staff we have encountered!

Slightly old hotel but it was clean so it was okay. The water heating was also not consistent at times.

As known, the alpine route can be done in one day. But this hotel is an excellent option for those who want to do things in a more relaxed way and stay the night in the mountains. The hotel has a simple-looking but nice attitude bathhouse. Dinner was excellent! The waiters and reception staff were simply wonderful and patient and gave us excellent service

The hotel is relatively old and this is evident in the room and furniture. However, everything is well maintained and was not a problem for us.

We love the location of the hotel with the Midagahara Wetland hiking trial just behind. The sunset scene from our room is awesome. It is also a quiet respite after a hectic and crowded time at Murodo. Moreover, the staff are friendly and helpful and we enjoy both the service and the dinner very much.

The buffet breakfast is bit of a disappointment compared to the delicious dinner. Both the quality and variety of brekfast items can be improved on.

The dinner and breakfast was up to expectation in a room with a very good view, especially during sunset. The hiking around the hotel was nice, even if it was snowed in still. Also good time looking at the stars after dinner. Overall it was a nice and peaceful stay and I am quite glad there was no vacancy at Tateyama as this is better and quieter.

The video presentation should at least have english subtitles.

Everything! The room was clean, and the staff were very warm and welcoming. Location is perfect for us as the midagahara wetland was just beside the hotel. It's also quieter compared to the famous Tateyama Hotel. If you prefer a quiet, peaceful place, Midagahara is a good choice. Day light was long in spring, so we could do a morning trail walk at 5 am. I am very grateful to the chef for my vegetarian meal request. The vegetarian kaiseki (see photo I shared) was superb.

I like how we felt warm and welcomed by the staff! The kaiseki was fantastic! After dinner, we got to see a presentation about the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route and stargazing. The view of the Midagahara Plain is amazing!

It has a great location on mt tateyama/ midagahara which is good for travelling around the alpine route with different scenes, panoramic sunset, starry night and snowy backyard for a short walk. Dinner is wonderful and staff are helpful and thoughtful.

Fantastic location. Lovely nature and superb hospitality. We enjoyed it thoroughly. On request, they had offered vegetarian meal and it was excellent. Our special thanks to the chef and his team. We will surely come back for a longer stay.
