I had an absolutely delightful stay at Signel Poshtel in Kota Kinabalu. From the moment I arrived, the guest care was outstanding. Rita, the friendly check-in staff, deserves special mention for her warm and cheerful welcome. She went above and beyond to ensure my stay was perfect, making me feel truly valued as a guest. What made my experience even more memorable was the personalised touch of decorating my room beautifully for my birthday. It was such a thoughtful and heartwarming gesture that exceeded all my expectations. The attention to detail and genuine hospitality at this poshtel are second to none. The first impression as I entered into the property was enough to tell me that this is going to be an excellent place to stay! I stayed in both the bunk bed room and the smaller single person room. Both are clean, things were perfectly arranged and tidy! The shower and toilet are clean. The bed was well presented with that banner sheet placed at the end of the bed (not sure exactly what you call it). For the budget I paid for, everything in the hotel was well planned, designed and set up like a 5 Stars room! The pictures shown from the booking sites is exactly what it shows! The staff is super friendly and helpful! I'm glad I found this place! Will recommend to anyone 100% anytime!

The bed is slightly harder for me, but that's my personal preference! Overall I can't find anything which I don't like!

My stay at Signel Poshtel exceeded all my expectations! It offers hotel-quality services at a budget-friendly price. The location is unbeatable—right next to the lively Gaya Street, making shops and restaurants incredibly convenient. The common area and lounge are cozy and inviting, with a beautifully designed interior that adds to the charm. The dorm rooms and beds are clean and comfortable, and I felt very secure with the RFID locks on all doors and individual lockers provided for each guest. The staff and front office are exceptionally warm and friendly, always ready to help with a smile. What truly stood out to me were the toiletries—they provide vegan and organic products from Erutan, including shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. It's rare to find a hostel that goes the extra mile like this! This is the best hostel I’ve stayed at so far, and I’ll definitely be staying here again when I’m in Kota Kinabalu.

It’s a minor detail, but the lift/mini elevator was quite slow, so I often opted to take the stairs instead.

1. the furnishing is contemporary and tasteful 2. the property is very clean 3. the location is excellent- next to night and Sunday market, many restaurants and cafes nearby, malls and ferry pier to outlying islands within walking distance 4. the bathing gel and handwashing liquid soap is of good quality 5. The staff members including Florence are very helpful. 6. very value for money

1. the table in the room is too small 2. not enough hanging space in the room particularly when you have to hang your swimming suits 3. laundry service unavailable at night 4. the elevator is only from 1/F upward, does not reach the G/F, meaning you have to carry your heavy luggage from G/F to 1/F

This poshtel may be the first in Malaysia that caters for backpackers and solo-travelers like me in such nice, cozy and most importantly, clean ambient! The room size is good enough for 2 with standard amenities that makes your stay convenient, apart from being comfortable. I often see this type of hotel in Taiwan and did not expect it in Malaysia, with such good standards. Would definitely recommend to others and return for future stay.

Wifi was slow and I couldn't even browse YouTube on my second night. Apart from this, it will be the 3 flight of stairs as this could be inconvenient for those elder travelers as the lift is only available at level 1, not ground.

Location was superb. Many shops nearby, 24hrs food court. Next to Gaya street food on Saturday weekends which turns into Sunday street market. Rooms and hotel is new and bath room are clean and nice toiletries. So convenient to walk around and see the water front and surrounding shops. Free Wifi. Coffee/tea and biscuits provided. For the price what else would you asked for.

Nothing to dislike really. The live music from the food street were going on till late but finish by Midnight. Perhaps the only thing is the Hotel lobby is at 1st floor and you would have to pull your heavy luggage up to the lobby to check in. There is a lift which only starts at the lobby.

Attitude of staff very good. Answer questions patiently and makes us feel welcome unlike some other places where we had visited in our travels. Staff makes us feel welcomed that we would hope to return again even though carrying luggage up the steps wasn’t exactly fun.😂😂😂

Carrying the luggage up the stairs as we being senior citizens travelling on our own would prefer places where we can enter at ground level to reception even if it involves taking a lift to nxt level where reception is located. But staff was very helpful to help us carry our luggage down the steps on checking out. 👍👍

Came to KK for Borneo Marathon 2024 and stayed at this hotel and one of my best decisions this year! Close to night market on Friday and Saturday (2-3 metres away) and morning market (2-3 metres away) at Gaya Street. Surrounded with hundreds of cafes / restaurants and easily can find convenience store. There is a Bataras supermarket at the back within walking distance and close to the quay area for a good spot of sunset / sunrise! Facilities are great and netflix working very well!

The water pressure can be increaaed

The property was so clean, I enjoyed my stay, the bed was big and very comfortable. The stuff was also kind and professional. There are some snacks, ramen, water dispensers, and instant coffee that can be used for free in the kitchen. I forgot my snorkeling kit after checkout, but the managers took care of it, and they collected it, and I went to take it the next day. Thank you, Signel Roshtel, I highly recommend it and see you again when I visit Malaysia KK next time.

Nothing was a big issue during my stay.

I really liked staying here. It's a rather new hotel/hostel and its decor has some European vibes. The staff is super friendly and caring, they check at least once per hour if everything is alright in the communal areas. Kitchen and community space is on the upper floor and also convenient for guests in single rooms. Rooms have TV with Netflix, you don't need your own account. If wanted they clean the rooms every day. Comfortable bed with European size of mattress. I also prefer the location in the city centre over accommodation at the waterfront. One of the best accommodations I've had in 3 weeks traveling Malaysia.

The ensuite bathroom is very close to the bed, for 2 people maybe a bit too intimate. Also it was quite smelly in the mornings. When the staff cleaned the room, they usually just did the basics and didn't really clean toilet and shower properly. But this was far from being an actual problem. It gets noisy at weekends, since the markets are right in front of the hotel. It's quite around midnight on Friday and Saturday night. On Sunday they start building the Sunday market from around 4am on.
