Great backpacker's hostel, like in the olden days. I have the impression that this kind of inns are disappearing, not just in Asia but worldwide, so it was good to stay here, even in low season. We were almost the only guests, with some exceptions. For example, the German solo backpacker who came in for one day used the toilets very disrespectfully, it must be the same type of person who later goes to the beach and leaves his cigarette butts in the sand. Other than that, the premises were clean and accessible. Taha, the guys in charge, does a great work keeping the hostel alive. Kasbah's location is ideal, a couple of meters away from great warungs and not far from the beach.

I love everything about its accommodation! There were 8 of us and we booked 3 rooms. Nice rooms with kampung vibes, it could bring us back to those days when we were small slept in a kampung style chalets with mosquito nets. The other room I took was industrial kampung style bedroom. Couldn't have asked for more. I really love it! and this one has attached bathroom. For other rooms. eventhough the toilets are outside, it's just nearby the chalets and it has 3 separate bathrooms and toilets. So, we don't have to wait for the toilet usage. Overall, I will definitely repeat our stay here and plan to stay longer.

We asked for an extra pillow and towel, but we get a stink and so worn out pillow plus the towel is so torn. It is also smelly. Then I don't know where is the reception area when i wanna look for the staff in charge. Because we were greeted at the front area of the place. I only met a person at the renovated restaurant area and he helped me to call for a staff in charge.

The Kasbah has a really cool vibe, we really liked it! Great location and good wifi. The restaurant menu looked good (we didn’t try anything though), they even had vegan options 😁

No aircon in the dorm or twin room and not as social as other hostels during our stay

Absolutely loved the vibes of this hostel. Yes, it's super basic but you get what you pay for AND it really matches the overall vibe of the island as well. So, this to me, was perfect. Very social hostel but not necessarily a party hostel either which is great. Stayed here for a while so I can definitely say Kasbah somehow attracts the easy-going, down-to-earth and super chill type of backpackers. Super quiet surroundings but close enough to where all the action is whether that's food, beach or stores, it's all walking distance. Anyway, absolutely loved this place <3

The only thing I wish Kasbah had was AC hahah. It gets hot! But just shower three times a day and you should be happy as a clam lol. Oh and my mosquito net had holes :( A small repair would go far. But still, the good of this place tops any of these!

Koko the guy that runs the place is an awesome guy. The room was really spacious and the fan kept it super nice and cool throughout the night. One of the comfier beds I’ve had during this trip!

The walls of the room have open air sections so id advise a quick spray of mosquito cream before going to bed. Noise also comes through if any other guests are being loud but the place is generally pretty quiet and chill.

Overall this place is amazingly well built, the time taken and care is very well done, and the friendliness of staff is great. If you like open spaces and nature then this is the place for you.

I learnt i needed a level of comfort where there is closed space for me to relax. This was very 'open' in terms of bedroom and lounge area there is no closed doors or windows, it is purposely built to be open which is fine and nothing wrong with it. but for me I am a mosquito magnet, and annoyingly allergic to mosquitos, which means every time i would want to just chill in the lounge i would risk being attacked by them. Again nothing wrong with the hostel just a personal issue.

Very chilled vibes in the hostel. Easy to meet new people. I could work from my laptop in the common area outside. Wi-Fi was fast. For a dorm room of this size it was really quiet during the night - could sleep without any problems most of the time.

Quite a lot of mosquitos and the mosquito nets had a quite some wholes. Not much privacy because everything is open, there are no curtains.

Amazing hostel. Very friendly host and open minded people. Everything was clean and tidy too. Great location just a ~2 minutes walk to the restaurants and shops and about 5 minutes to the next beach. A kitchen with a fridge, water kettle, coffee and free water which could be used by everyone. There was always something going on in the evening and you could meet other people very easily. The beds were very comfy. We were upstairs, where the beds were on the ground. The downstairs had the swinging beds. You could watch amazing sunrise from the upstairs.

Uniqueness of how brilliant the construction made from used wood (pillars, beams, wall, stairs, furnitures), tiles and other materials making this place closer to my taste and preference. Sleeping on swinging bed (ground floor hostel) with mosquito net, inside well ventilated wooden hostel offered traditional Malay village house experience. The location surrounded by Malay village, paddy field view, close to beach and tourist attractions, we can see daily local activities and eating local food at small restaurants nearby. Great place to relax and rejuvenate.

Suggestion: Remove/eliminate any potential pot/container that can increase the chances of mosquitoes to breed.

The spirit of the place!...I mean if you have a bag-packing mentality, this is the place for you! Relax chillout place with a very nice common area to seat and chat with other travelers. It remembered me a lot the places in MONTANITA ( a beach town in Ecuador - where I come from). The surrounding area is very quiet and that is a plus if you want also to rest. Cenang beach is at 5 min walking, or you can take a GRAB(The Uber in Malaysia) for aprox 1 Euro! Taha, the person in charge was very kind and helpful. He was very surprised that I can manage to see so much of Langkawi in 2 days!...jejej.. Thanks Taha for the interesting conversations we had together with the other guests from all over the world. This is a plus if you are travelling SOLO like I was. In general, in Langkawi even if you travel alone, you will never feel alone. The hospitality of the local people but also the interaction with other tourists will make your trip to Langkawi a great experience! See you soon Taha...If I come back to Langkawi I will repeat the experience at The Kasbah !...
