Everything The setting was magical...the room was beautiful and huge The outside bathroom was the best I ve seem
Our room did not have a/c which when I booked I had not realised. So not their fault. Only the rooms with private pool seemed to have A/C There was a fan but the room was so hot at night that we did not have the best sleeps. I think all rooms should have a/c . I m not sure why 7 out of 20 do not . We had one of the suite which was not cheap 🤔 But I would still recommend it ...

My husband and I recently had the most incredible stay at Lakaz Chamarel! From start to finish, the experience was simply exceptional. The service provided by the staff was beyond compare, and their genuine warmth and attentiveness made us feel truly valued as guests. The moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm smile and a refreshing drink. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our stay was perfect. Whether it was recommending local attractions or fulfilling any request, they were always there with a solution and a genuine desire to make our stay memorable. The hotel itself was a true paradise. Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, it offered a serene and tranquil environment that was perfect for relaxation. The attention to detail in the design and decor of the rooms and common areas was impeccable. Each room was beautifully appointed, providing a luxurious and comfortable sanctuary to unwind after a day of exploration. One of the highlights of my stay was the exceptional dining experience at Lakaz Chamarel. The culinary team showcased their talent and creativity through a diverse range of delectable dishes. From the breakfast spread to the exquisite dinner options, each meal was a delightful journey for the senses. The flavors, presentation, and attention to dietary preferences were all exemplary. The hotel's commitment to sustainability and its integration with the surrounding nature was truly admirable. The eco-friendly initiatives in place, and the preservation of the local ecosystem, showcased a genuine dedication to the environment. I wholeheartedly recommend Lakaz Chamarel to anyone seeking an unforgettable getaway. It's a place where luxury, tranquility, and impeccable service come together to create a truly magical experience. We can't wait to return and create more beautiful memories in this paradise.

A truly outstanding hotel. We loved everything about our stay. We had a suite with a sea view. The garden, mountain and sea views were amazing. The outdoor deck and infinity pool were to die for. Our room was superb, a large and comfortable bed and an outdoor shower which really allowed you to connect with the outdoors were highlights. The service from every team member was first class and the evening meals were beautifully prepared and very tasty. There was a steep hill back to the room but there was always a buggy to take us back.
Given the outstanding standards at this hotel we felt the breakfast buffet was fine but didn’t match the quality of the evening meals. We were also surprised to be asked to pay extra if we wanted to use the air con.

We really liked the service, the kindness of the hotel staff was wonderful. They picked us up whenever we wanted with their golfcars and prepared a special birthday cake for me. The location was good, only 30 min from le morne beach and 15 min from seven colored earth. tons of rivers around as well. The nature and the view were amazing!! Walking in the jungle on the way to the breakfast was a special experience.
The pools were not really clean most of the time and some bugs were inside (a result of the jungle). The toilet in our room had no door, meaning no privacy. And now the real thing that bothered us the most- bugs and little animals everywhere in the room- bathroom, balcony, cockroaches and flies inside the window curtains (they jump on you). We had some sleepless nights from their sounds.

An attractive upmarket resort set in extensive landscaped tropical gardens. Most of the accommodation is scattered around the estate so you can't even see many of the buildings from the central hub and restaurant - but there are plenty of little buggies to whisk you about - just phone the reception and they'll send one for you straight away. We stayed in one on the 'cheapest' rooms - one of three thatched cottages close to the restaurant and with their own little pool beneath the palm trees and surrounded by the beautiful gardens, and just 1 minute's walk to the restaurant - very handy. The room was an adequate size and nicely furnished with some lovely carved and painted wooden Indian furniture. The bathroom was al fresco at the back - nice! And there is a mini-bar fridge. An excellent and extensive buffet breakfast is included in the room price. Good restaurant food as well and not particularly expensive compared to other restaurants around the island (or compared to the relatively expensive room prices). Beer was normally priced but wine was prohibitively expensive, unless you have very deep pockets. There is also a sunset bar where you can enjoy a drink looking out across the jungle to the ocean - just summon a buggy to whisk you up there! The staff were numerous and all excellent - polite, friendly and efficient. There is a small village within walking distance which has a couple of restaurants and a small shop but there is nothing else within walking distance. A car is therefore very useful, although the hotel does run shuttles to nearby beaches and other attractions and can organise airport transfers. The nearby Ebony Forest Nature Reserve is highly recommended for hikers, bird-watchers and nature lovers, although some of the trails are steep and demanding in places.

WOW. First of all, the owners/managers and staff are so friendly and welcoming. When you drive into the hotel grounds it is like arriving in some kind of garden of Eden. They have beautifully landscaped the grounds so it’s full of a diversity of native plants and birds, even better than the botanic gardens in many ways! If I had been there longer I would have enjoyed using the fantastic gym facilities and free yoga classes. I had one of the Mountain View rooms with a private pool and it was incredible. One of the nicest rooms I’ve ever stayed in. It was large with a spacious terrace. Gorgeous outdoor shower. They left body oil and scrub which was a really nice touch. There was a really nice shared pool area too which was never busy. I really enjoyed sitting after dinner next to the fire pit and reading my book. The sky was clear with a great view of the stars and at dusk you could see all the fruit bats flying over. The view bar was really good, great cocktails and lots of free snacks brought round! And of course a great view. I drove down to Le Morne beach which was gorgeous and had some good snorkeling right off it. Much quieter than other beaches I visited further up the coast. I went to the geo park and waterfall which were lovely. With more time and some cooler temperatures I would have liked to have explored some of the hiking around. Amazing place I will recommend to friends and family, I hope to get the chance to go back.
Nothing, it was perfect!

The property is very lush and green, it's absolutely beautiful and isolated. It is the perfect place to go to get away from city life and live in the lap of nature. The rooms are well spaced from each other and offer complete privacy. The rooms are spacious and offer a unique experience of showering under open skies! The hotel has a common room where guests can play board games and watch TV. The view from the bar overlooking the hills is breathtaking. The dining area is very cozy and has a very intimate setting. The staff are polite and friendly. The sight and sounds of various birds chirping and fluttering around is fascinating. The property is vast and so it's ideal for a stroll.
The housekeeping cleaning could have been better, the shower area could have been cleaner. I understand its part of nature but a little scrubbing would have been nice. also there were insects in the room, I found 2 moths on the curtains, maybe the staff could air out the room well before guests come in.

Location and staff.
Saga dance group buffet night.. Felt out of place in a charming and relaxing location. Smoking on the resturant and lobby terrace and at the sunset bar.

We loved the great location and ambiance. Our room was like having our own small eco lodge surrounded by tropical gardens and nature. We enjoyed using our own small pool that was very refreshing after a long day. The room was lovely with a large 4 poster comfortable bed (surrounded by mosquito net), his and her bathroom facilities and a private outdoor shower. It was only a short walk up to the evening bar where we could order a cool drink and watch the sun setting before strolling down to dinner in the hotel restaurant. The staff were all very friendly and helped us organize visits to the national parks, local walks and giant tortoises. So many wonderful photographs and memories!
Our arrival was delayed from UK by a day as our flight had to return to London after take off due to a solvent spill and associated emergency. The hotel staff and taxi pickup were very supportive and communicated with us by WhatsApp so when we did arrive we got a good welcome.

We stayed in a mountain view w/ pool room (Tambalacoque) for two nights and absolutely loved our stay. The view from our porch is definitely etched in my mind forever! It was such a cool jungle-y enviroment and a nice change from the beach. The cacauphony of birds all the time was truly special! The room was clean, organised. The food was always good but not outstanding. The massage and yoga was excellent, and the view bar was a wonderful way to wind down.
All of the lead staff were very nice, but we did have an incident where we spoke with a group of staff in english, and then one made a comment in french/creole and everyone started laughing. Who knows about what, but I found that and a couple other moments with serving staff unprofressional. Once my spoon was taken from my table and given to someone else, before being replaced. Food service was not always fast, and I'd suggest they extend the dinner window to avoid everyone arriving at once. The mountain bikes were not in great shape, and ones that are broken should be removed to be fixed. Drinks are little expensive but what can you expect. More water should be provided in the rooms too.
