Reading the reviews, our expectations of this place were very low however we had a really good experience . The room was well equipped with a stove and cooking utensils and the building itself is quite beautiful with all the plants. The location is awesome , nice and quiet and close to the beach. The free breakfast was really delicious. Not a whole lot of food but it was tasty :)

They are very strict with the 3 pm check in however you have until 12 to check out so it’s not a big deal.

The location was great. The garden area lovely. Beds comfortable.

The kitchen was good, but no kettle. Had to use a pot on the stove. The shower had a mind of it's own!!! Tricky to get right temperature. The toilet flush not the best ☹️ Also needs small lamps over or beside the bed. Only has bright ceiling lights. We were here for 11 nights and the room wasn't cleaned at all. We changed our own towels from a linen store and swept the floor with a broom I found.

Location was nice and central, close to the beach and restaurants, easy to bike everywhere. There was no breakfast included, but our room had a little kitchenette so we were able to make some simple meals when we didn't feel like eating out.

The internet was very patchy and kept disconnecting, and the rooms were not very soundproof, we could hear the neighbouring dogs barking all night long most nights.

Location, clean rooms, beautiful plants outside, self check in and out.

A lot of noise from the workers that were fixing something in the building. We spent 5 days in there and the staff didn't have toilet paper I had to ask more then one time. They are slow to resolve problems. Tv don't work, and also the fire from the kitchen. Shower don't have enought water coming out

Everything was perfect. The self checkin was very easy, the owner, Jessica sent me the details on whatsapp (and she also gave us tips for what to do in our stay there). The room was very clean, had a quite large fridge (it had a freezee too!). Very close to the beach, only a few mins to get there. Had air conditioning, which was a blessing because even in November there were 30º or more outside. The owner let us leave the room keys at checkout but remain in the interior patio for a few hours because we had a plane in the evening. Street was quiet, neighbors were quiet. I would definitely go back here if i ever come back to Playa del Carmen!!

Actually there werent any big issues. The bed was a liiiiitle bit small, around only 135cms large, but maybe this is a mexican standard? Not sure about this. The toilet kept blocking itself, we often couldn’t flush the water, but we solved the issue ourselves.

I have stayed here at least 6 times and i like the location (10 min walk to the beach, and a 30 second walk to 5th avenue). The accommadation..(the rooms have a kitchenette, a comfortable bed, TV, and a good WiFi signal) The building has a palapa roof terrace, with loungers and chairs. The breakfast is in a different location. The restaurant is a 10 min walkaway just off 5th ave and consisted of Eggs al gusto, a little fruit, coffee and Juice. I would choose Selva y Mar again.

"A Friendly Warning" This time there was a 'Rooster' in the garden next door which started crowing at 4.30am and continued until 8am. I know that it's not the hotels fault, but it did ruin my stay this time.

Great location, at the better more quiet end of 5th, comfortable bed and modern interior of apartment. Clean surfaces and no insects for geckos inside apartment.

Hotel host lady a bit rude and weird and insists shaking your hand everytime you meet her. Very noisy guests at rooftop terrace. Hotel don't do anything about them having a all night party with music and screaming at rooftop.

Great price at a great location. The staff was helpful with everything we needed, Alma the receptionist was especially great. It has a cool terrace on the roof which was great to hang at in the evenings. Good coffee at the breakfast.

The internet sometimes worked great, and other times were completely hopeless. The shower wasn't the best pressure and temperature. The breakfast was very small (also very cheap).

I love this beautiful, colonial style place! The location is super, right next to the 5th avenue, everything you need is just a few steps away. Jessica and her team are super friendly, very efficient and flexible. On the rooftop is a big lounge area and a big palapa, under which you can hang out, even when it's raining. I'll be back for sure!

Its a beautiful setting with palmtrees and so much vegetation, the room is nice and authentic looking the location is perfect. Also the staff at the Casa Ticul where they give you the keys are soooo friendly Alma and there was a young guy at the evening shift Julian or Juan-im so sorry i cant remember the name:(They were extremely helpful with everything!will go back soon!
