The food was not good in all the restaurants. I was quite disappointed and surprised since it’s not my first time staying at this hotel. We didn’t have hot water in our room , the telephone wasn’t working and we didn’t have no remote control for our tv.

Excellent food with variety. Friendly staff. Very clean and everything was well maintained. Discounts were given for a free spa session for both of us as well as 1 day of all inclusive meals after seeing the timeshare style presentation. With so many things to go see for day trips, we didn't get all inclusive and were glad we hadn't since we were busy with outings most days we were there. We had a view of Fifth Avenue and the shopping there was with an energetic vibe with lots of people.

The timeshare presentation brought prices down a bit by giving a free event (to see a ceynote), but we still found that the package deals at Travel Shop were expensive compared to deals we saw after with vendors on Fifth Avenue. Despite the cost of $415 for 2 people for 3 events (2 sailing and 1 ceynotes tour) we really enjoyed the outings and the travel shop organizers were very helpful in what to bring.

The hotel was great; it had a fantastic location. The rooms were very large and truly beautiful. The rooftop pool was excellent.

The staff was an absolute disaster. The employee Amilcar was by far the worst part of the hotel experience. We always had to wait a very long time for our drinks, and even during dinner, it took a long time before we were served. Although there were plenty of available seats, we were told that there were no tables available and that we would have to wait half an hour. If you gave little or no tip, you were treated like a second-class guest, even though we had booked an all-inclusive package. For this, there are truly zero stars.

Nice and clean junior suite and great location in Playa del Carmen. Good breakfast with lots of different options and very helpful staff.

Fair warning - the all-inclusive option means a lot of guests are there to party: there are drunk people in the hotel, and the rooftop bar (which is very nice) plays loud music until 11pm. When we were there one day someone had vomited in the pool, jacuzzi and male bathroom, yet many people were still in the pool..

Large room and bathroom. Pool area nice until the DJ starts. Great rooftop view. A little loud. The people that work there are amazing. Shout out to Israel up front. Good breakfast and good food at the pool. Ability to go enjoy the other properties is great ( used to be included).

Having to pay for small extras. Soon it will be like Vegas charging resort fees etc'. Sometimes the maids didn't leave coffee for the maker the next day. Simple fix by telling front desk. The a la carte restaurants for lunch and dinner can have an exceedingly long wait for your food, even when at very low capacity. Talking hour to hour and half plus. One street next to hotel has a karaoke bar that was super loud.

We stayed at The Reef 28 for two nights and had such an amazing experience that we ended up extending our stay by one more night! The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed. Initially, the room we got was a bit noisy, but the staff were incredibly helpful and moved us to a quieter room the next day, which was perfect. The spa and facilities were excellent, and the breakfast was absolutely outstanding – probably the best we’ve had in Mexico. The location is ideal – just a short walk to the main shopping street. Every staff member we met was professional, kind, and welcoming. If we ever come back to Playa del Carmen (which we absolutely plan to), this will definitely be our first choice again!

The hotel is very well located, just one block from 5th Avenue and one block from Mamitas Beach. The staff is wonderful—very respectful, friendly, and kind. We only purchased the breakfast option, and we could choose between the Mexican restaurant with a delicious menu or the buffet, which offers plenty of delicious options, including fresh fruit. I am allergic to gluten, and I would have liked the buffet, being part of a 4-star hotel, to have more gluten-free bakery options. They only offered a small slice of bread and a muffin. It has a rooftop with a pool and good music.

The downside is that they try to sell you a vacation plan. They take you to breakfast at one of their all-inclusive hotels, and you end up spending almost 2 hours listening to them try to sell you a plan that borders on a pyramid scheme. When you book a hotel, you just want to rest and enjoy your vacation, not have the place you chose to stay at try to sell you unnecessary plans. This seems to be common in all the hotels in the area. **Traveler tip**: Do not accept or pay for anything at the airport or the hotel you're staying at related to these vacation plans.

What did I not like? Lol Beautiful selection of food every day, just make sure to ask questions. Restaurants offering Asain, Italian and Mexican cuisine. Food is very delicious. Rooms are clean, mini fridge stocked. Rooftop bar and pool with delicious menu. I definitely recommend. Great staff! Beautiful location right next to 5th Avenue! 4 min walk from public beach equipped with beach chairs and umbrellas (grab your towels). Multilingual staff. I could go on, but just book it! Lol
