Very basic hotel near main square. Rooms were comfortable. Air conditioning worked well. Breakfast was adequate. Staff were great. Don't understand many reviews stating it was noisy. I couldn't hear a thing from outside. Fantastic value.

No complaints at all

My friend and I absolutely loved this riad! A big reason for that was because both of us completely fell in love with a cat that snuck into our room. It's the coziest and most social cat I've ever petted, and I thought several times about wanting to adopt it and bring it back to Sweden. After we checked out, we stayed at another riad later on, but we came back several times just to visit the cat, which might seem a bit odd, haha, but we truly loved it. The staff at the riad were super friendly and even told us that we had overpaid for a desert tour we booked. It turned out to be true—later, we realized that all the tours were pretty much identical and that everyone in our group had paid different amounts. So, here's a tip: have the riad book it for you. The riad is also very close to the main square, without being disturbed by the noise. Plus, there's an insanely tall palm tree in the middle of the courtyard, which is great for a fun photo. Of all the accommodations we stayed at in Marrakech, this was the most comfortable for this price range. The breakfast on the terrace was nice, and the beds were comfortable. I highly recommend staying here. Thank you again from both me and my friend for letting us come back to hang out with the cat we named Snuggles!

I last stayed here 10 years ago, some of the rooms at least have been modernised including my ensuite double, while retaining traditional decoration. My bed was more comfortable than some in Morocco. WiFi was pretty good too, I had photos to upload and that worked well with occasional fails Breakfast on the roof remains a delight of staying here. The Cecil is about 2 minutes walk from the excitement of the Jemaa el-Fnaa square, location is fantastic even if you can hear a lot of the activities and so remains the value for money :-) After 10 years, I am glad to have returned!

10 years ago taxis and minibuses could come to the end of the alley, now nothing is allowed into the square after 13:00 so be aware that if you are older and/or have heavy bags, you have to walk a distance. You may meet a kind of porter with a hand cart. None of this is the hotels fault :-)

We were overall happy! Is very cheap indeed, and you get of course very simple accommodation but enough for a stay which the goal was to visit central and touristic area of Marrakeche and not conmfort and design or luxury !Lets say we get what we pay. Breakfast was rich to keep two boys fed for the morning. A bit noisy at night. Internet very good and if comeback will stay there for sure!

Noise from outside and inside the hotel. Other tourists, from other rooms making the noise.

Tasty breakfast, rather sweet, no problem to ask for additional tea, coffee, cup, hot water, whatever you need. Location was simply the best :) we walked out of the hotel and immediately were in a hart of Marrakesh - on a famous Jemma el-Fnaa market place with all it's sounds, flavors, crowds etc

slightly too dark rooms, stronger light would be good, and we could here the nose from the market place, but on the other hand we wanted to be just in center of Marrakesh

Reasonable price and clean room among this class hotels although it is a bit old fasioned. Good location ( very close to Djamaa el Fna Plaza ). The reception staff was kind to wait for my check-in until 01:30a.m. due to my flight delay. Cleaned two shared shower rooms and two toilets which are enough for one floor.

Some additional commission will be required if you pay by credit card. ( 10 Euro or 10 dh. I don't remember it exactly and I paid it by cash. ) No elevator, only stairs.

we absolutely loved the location of this hotel. It is right in the centre of the medina. The staff were lovely and spoke good English (so we didn't have to try and fumble with French or Arabic as they spoke to us in English upon arrival). The breakfast was traditional and tasty and was served on the rooftop terrace. The rooms were warm even on the cold desert nights and the cleaners made sure that the bathroom / shared shower room as kept clean, tidy and hygienic. The hotel totally exceeded our expectations.

nothing really - only being asked if I could pay cash after giving my card details to book (they have a card machine). I paid by card as planned as I didn't have cash to hand to pay.

This is the second time we have stayed, booked again because it's such good value. Beautiful place close to the square. Easy to find by the large palm tree in the centre as a landmark. Msmen eggs and croissants for breakfast every morning with bread jams and honey.

Other guests can be noisy. Bathroom smells a bit ... Like many places in the city ... Plug up all the holes and stuff a bit of folded paper in the sink over flow, then no problem.

The room was very comfy, consisting of a bed, nice mirror a tine table that we really used to pop things on. A wardrobe (that we didn't use since it was super dusty and my partner is allergic to dustmites) blankets and *great* aircon. It was exactly what we needed as a base for an explorative holiday! Breakfast served was 1 boiled egg, 1 pastry, bread basket w/ jam, honey, cream cheese. It was served with coffee but I did see others drinking mint tea instead. All of the staff were really lovely.

The lighting in the room was really dim but, at the same time, could have benefited from a lamp for the evening. There was slight damp in the bathroom, but nothing problematic. It's so close to being of an 'English' standard if there was a little more attention to detail: smudged paint around the doorframes, nail sticking out in the bathroom wall, no bracket for the shower head but the fixings still there. Nothing that detracts away from a lovely stay, but prohibits it being a 10/10 stay.

The hotel has a very good position in Medina near Jemaa El-Fna Square, the riad and rooftop are very pleasant. The wonderfully sculpted furniture suggests the spirit of the place. The painted doors evoque authenticity. And most important, even if we went through a bad earthquake, the staff was absolutly amazing, continuing to do their job and be really nice, supporting all the guests needs. Also, the very old building stayed in one piece with no big dammage.

Not all the staff from the reception spoke English, but we managed to get along. It wasn't spotless clean and the tour which we were sold, had nothing to do with what we got. Though this was the problem with the company that organized the excursion, not with the hotel, we bought the excursion from the hotel, so they should be more careful with whom they work with.
