Gorgeous guest house with a fabulous rooftop terrace. Extremely warm and friendly staff (including a beautiful cat named Shouri). Ideal location in a quiet part of the Medina but a stones throw away from the waterfront promenade. Great value and highly recommended :)

Breakfast was only bread, pastries and sugary things; nothing savory or salty (except for olives). Would have been great to have eggs and white cheese.

This was the best place we stayed during our time in Morocco. The staff - especially Shaima - were friendly, helpful and attentive to every detail. The breakfast was exceptional and really set us up for the day. We were made feel very very welcome and would love to return again soon.

Our room was compact but comfortable.

Traditional style building in a quiet street of an otherwise busy medina. Rooms are around a central patio, were not huge but well equipped and comfortable with all amenities that we needed, and most furniture have a lovely local design that adds a special charm to your stay. Family is exceptionally welcoming and attentive, on our first night they even waited for us to make sure we can get back to the place safely. Breakfast is rich and prepared locally in mostly Moroccan style, we loved it. There are several terraces on the rooftop to chill out, or just check on the medina from above. House is well covered by wifi. There are quiet hours in the evening so nights are really quiet and can relax in peace. Location is very good - you are in a more quiet street in the historic center, but in a short walk you can find plenty of shops and places to eat, and you can immerse yourself in the busy buzz of the Rabat medina. Pretty much all major sights of the city are in walking distance so we did not drive around within the city, just walked everywhere, and it worked perfectly.

Note that if you come by car, then parking can be a challenge, as the medina is very popular especially in the evenings. There is a paid parking by the port area where we always could park, and costs only 75 dirh per day, so not an issue, just good to know. It is not possible to drive up to the apartment by car.

The staff (especially Sheima who was always present and so helpful) was fabulous, the rooftop terrace is great, the amazing breakfast is abundant and staff prepares it even on days when you leave the riad early for traveling, the traditional decor is spectacular, the location is in the heart of the old city’s market, walkable to everything, the accessibility with getting in and out of your room at any time of day/night, you can exchange money there with the staff’s help. The bed and bedding are comfortable.

Hot water runs out fast for a family of four but we made it work by timing our showers.

The hosts are amazingly friendly and the reason I'm giving it a 10. I almost never give tens and would give this a 9 myself, but my kids insist (due to the friendliness of the hosts) that I give it a 10. It's really a beautiful place, It gives you a feeling of being in Morocco and in the local culture. It's perfectly located to see everything you'll be looking to see as a tourist. The breakfasts are great and they can easily accommodate vegetarians. It's a family run place and they are really friendly.

You have to know what you're getting into with a riad to enjoy this place. Riads are like guest houses, you give up a bit of privacy and a fair amount of quietness.

Three friends and I visited Morocco in January and spent one night at the delightful Casa Sabila. It’s a small accommodation with a real feel of friendly intimacy. The young man (forgotten his name) who was our host couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. The rooms are small, but the bed very comfortable and the water in the shower hot. It is extremely well located, enabling one to walk out the front door and explore charming Chefchaouen. I highly recommend it for independent travelers and small groups. One additional note – I created the itinerary for our group and based on what I read in travel reports, we spent only one night in Chefchaouen as writers frequently stated that there was not much to do and one night was sufficient. If I had to do the trip over – I would spend 2 nights there. Although there are not monuments and museums, what we loved about it was its accessibility. Given that it is a small village, we could wander about independently and find our way without worry – stopping to speak with local vendors and simply enjoy the ambiance. Moroccans are so very friendly, it was great fun to casually explore on our own.

Gorgeous and quiet riad in the middle of the old Medina. Honestly the best riad we’ve stayed at, and we know Morocco very well. Beautiful room, heavenly bed, excellent facilities, delicious breakfast and a beautiful roof terras. Above all, owners and staff were amazing: easy communication beforehand and during our stay, super friendly, helpful and kind, and wonderful care for extra details such as arranging a 3am taxi to the airport and leaving us breakfast to go. We travel to Rabat often, and this is the riad we will return to.

We had a beautiful room off the rooftop terrace, and felt completely comfortable. Shaima met us at the gate to the Medina on arrival, and took very good care of us for the four nights we stayed at the Esmeralda. The entire Riad is full of wonderful artwork and colourful fabrics. Breakfast was very good, with plenty of warm bread, eggs, yoghurt, fruit, honey and spreads, and coffee. Our only suggestion is that the bathroom garbage be emptied every day without having to ask.
