The reception people were lovely, polite, forthcoming and accommodating especially Ms Shrabya in the mornings and Mr Bijaya in the afternoon/night shifts. Also Ms Angura Bhatta in the dining room was always anticipating everyone's needs and was very accommodating. I did like my room with a balcony. I also liked the area, good landing point for a first time in Nepal although I would not live in this district permanently. Every day goods a bit more expensive than in the rest of the city since

Breakfast not fantastic and dining room a bit too small for the very manu guests as there are a lot of rooms in this hotel. Wished the shower curtain would reach all the way to the floor so the bathroom did not get flooded after each shower. Also housekeeping was most of the time very late 4-5pm in the afternoon due to the large turnover of guests checking out every day. This is a hotel where few people stay more than 1-2 days. It is a meeting point for trekking groups.

Hotel Thamel is a clean, well facilitated property in a great location, quiet but smack bang in the hustle of Thamel. Very well managed by Rohit, a very smart and kind young man. Wonderful front desk staff….particularly Ranjana, who organised us a great countryside tour, Shrabya and Bijana , with thoughtful communication right from the time of booking. All staff….restaurant, cleaning and security absolutely amazing. To top it off you will not find a better dining location in Thamel with a wide menu of large portioned, scrumptious meals, a good wine selection and happy, attentive staff. Thankyou to everyone for making our stay with you so special.

Although I travel a lot with my elderly mother; and stay in many hotels, for our first visit to Nepal, 2 weeks at Kathmandu's Hotel Thamel was one of the best choice of hotels we could have hoped for... The decor was impressive, the location convenient, the rooms clean, the wi-fi reliable, the hot water consistent, and the food delicious (particularly the Fish Thali and Fishballs)... At every level, including management, front door, reception, restaurant, housekeeping, and hotel car-hire, the staff were simply brilliant---extremely warm, polite and welcoming; as well as competent and helpful whenever needed (particularly with regard to my mother's wheelchair assistance).

I had a truly pleasant stay at Hotel Thamel. The rooms were clean, the ambiance was peaceful, and the location is perfect for exploring Kathmandu. A special shoutout to @Ranjana and @Akshunnd from the hotel team — they went above and beyond to help us arrange a cab to Birgunj at short notice. Their support, calm demeanor, and willingness to assist made a big difference during a stressful time. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kathmandu!

Honestly I found nothing which I disliked...

Excellent location. The friendliest staff ever. They feel like family. The facility has seen many guests so it’s a tad outdated, but the friendliness of the staff made up for any deficiencies. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. They have a bar for the evening. Air con worked well. Balcony was a plus. And despite the lively restaurant across the street, our room was quiet. It’s off the main drag too. Such a good value!!!

The power outlets were loose. Not unsafe, just a trick to charge the phones.

From checkin to checkout the service and people were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean, toiletries and water provided, and room cleaned daily. We ate in the restaurant every night. Food was delicious and authentic. Breakfast was self service and varied. Sangita and Yamuna provided excellent service in the restaurant, and always so polite and attentive. Wongji who worked on reception was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast at the hotel was delightful, offering a wide variety of options that catered well to different dietary needs. The location was excellent, conveniently situated close to public transport and major attractions, making it easy to explore the city. The staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful, particularly the manager, Karma Gurung, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable.

While the overall experience was positive, the room's soundproofing could have been better, as noises from outside sometimes came in the room. However, this is inevitable ANYWHERE you go in KTM.

I recently stayed at Hotel Thamel and had a wonderful experience. The location in Thamel, a vibrant hub and world-renowned heritage area, is unbeatable, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and cultural landmarks. The front reception staff deserve special praise for their warm hospitality.The bellboy was equally impressive, always eager to assist with luggage.The hotel offers rooms with balconies that are perfect for relaxing and soaking in the great sunlight during the day.

The staff was very helpful, we thank Bijaya for a job well done. The hotel is in a calm street and in a lively neighborhood close to bars and shops.

The WIFI is bad, a struggle all the time, especially because we needed to work also. The breakfast is abundant and we liked the omelet station however the veggies, idli, paratha options are not to expectations. The lively neighborhood won’t let you have a very profound sleep.
