This is a quiet place. Overall good value for your money. We have stayed 7 nights. The walk to the museums Anne Frank, Van Gough, Concert Gebouw is about 47- 50 minutes. Staff is amazing, excellent communication and very friendly. Our room was on top floor and would get extremely hot during the day. Maybe just our luck. Even the halls outside felt ten degrees cooler. Fortunately, we only came back to our room at midnight or 1 am every night and weather outside was 8 C ( 40s F) so we were able to cool off the room with open windows all night and sleep comfortably. We had no other issues and concerns.

Wow! This hotel is fantastic. Really quirky and a fabulous vibe. Outside it’s quite a retro unattractive building but inside is full of character. Spotlessly clean. The beds are very big and amazingly comfortable. Luxury white bedding and towels. Endless supply of hot water and great shower water pressure. The wet room was a great size. All staff were so helpful and friendly. The hotel cat is often there to welcome you. Food is delicious. Top notch product cooked to perfection. Views over the harbour basin are stunning. Rooms have a hair dryer and plenty of plug sockets. Communal tea and coffee kitchen on each floor plus drinking water. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. We would recommend you take the no 22 bus from Central Station going East. It’s not a 15 minute stroll as advertised. More like a 25-30 minutes walk! You can tap in and tap off with a credit card per person.

Fantastic hotel. Being an old military barracks it looks plain on the outside (though the building is lit up at night with fairy lights). But inside it is quirky, welcoming and has a really lovely vibe to it. The staff are super friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The family room we had was a good size, it's fairly basic but the beds were comfortable, but quite frankly the feel of the place and the staff trumped any more modern hotel. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful and there are lovely views over the canal. I can imagine it is fantastic in the summer. There were little touches that added to the great ambience - candle lit tables at breakfast, a personal feel to the staff who really cared about what they did and music that gave it a holiday feel. And if you Love animals there is a resident cat. It's about a 20 minute walk to the Central station and depending on which way you go between 20 - 45 minute walk to the attractions etc. We walked everywhere but of course you can take the tram or bus. I would definitely return here.

We could have done with a mirror in our room and the lightly was a bit dim but other than that nothing,

The location was great for my purposes: close to the main train station, walking distance to the city center (if you like to walk), but in a quiet area. During my stay there were different people on the reception however all of them were very friendly and helpful. The heating was working, if needed the extra blanket is provided. Room for one was simple and small but enough for comfort staying. The bathroom was clean. Elevator is slow but it’s a lifesaver after a long day full of walking. The hotel has it own brewery with good beer. Food in the local bar was also good.

After checking the reviews I new the hotel is modest and simple so I didn’t expect smth extraordinary. It totally worth its price.

It was a nice room, small and economical. Lights and electrical outlets were conveniently located. Bedroom and bathroom were super clean. The view outside the window was rather nice with a large tree providing privacy -- very peaceful. I really liked the all-day restaurant which was very convenient, good service, good chef, nice view and nice ambiance. It seems like the owners take great care with all the details of the hotel. Great atmosphere with a slight counter cultural vibe.

1. Noise at night from a group using the park outside the front of the hotel. The beer drinkers located next to the hotel so they could use the lobby bathroom. At 23:00, , the front desk manager talked to the group, and they cleaned up and left by 23::30 pm. They did not appear to be hotel guests and rode away on their bicycles. 2. Mattress and box spring were too soft, but I still slept well.

We booked for 21 people which is a big group. The accommodation was great, very clean and the outside seating area overlooking the water was a big boon. The food served for both breakfast and evening meals is first class. The staff were friendly and helpful. You can walk to Dam Square in about 15-20 mins or an uber cost around 12 euros. Tip:if you have enough for four people in a taxi it's much easier than taking trains to and from the airport. The airport run on uber is around 40 euros

The accommodation doesn't have air-conditioning but you can open a window so that was fine

We had a 3rd (well, 4th if you consider that the ground is actually over two levels) floor bedroom with lovely views. Fun location - I'm not sure if the outdoor lido needs membership to use, but it was fun watching the cold water swimmers out there. It is feasible to walk to Pension Homeland from the station (nice walk with bridges across open waterways) if you don't have lots of luggage and you can get there without steps with wheelie luggage, but expect it to take 20-25 mins. Great breakfast. The local brewery beer was good too, although quite pricey. The room had all the basic things you would need (and a good bed mattress) and was warm enough (too warm) but instructions to use the radiator knobs soon fixed that and we had it comfortable (note to other guests - expect quirky!) We loved the old cinema seats in the stairwells - which of course you need if you're going to be using the lift/elevator rather than the stairs - it moves incredibly slowly! Everyone working there seems lovely (even the cleaning team were personable - which is unusual). Nice cat sometimes at reception!

I loved the coffee area on each floor, but would have preferred mugs to cups and saucers. The milk for coffee ran out before the coffee sachets did but I'm sure if I'd gone down and asked, someone would have sorted it. I don't mind old furniture (it went with the 'era' of the place), but the wardrobe was sorely in need of some maintenance (dodgy door hinges).

I love the artwork and the vibe. Staff all super nice. Probably the nicest stay I've had in Europe so far. Had an amazing view from my room. The breakfast was good at the restaurant.

The heater in my room didn't really work but I didn't really care too much. It would be good to have AC units in the rooms. The bathroom fan didn't seem to work to well either and when you had the shower on water would tend to go everywhere. The rental bikes weren't very good I wouldn't recommend. Can also be loud outside so good idea to get ear plugs.

The staff were so very nice and helpful. This is one of the more charming places I’ve ever stayed at, not only because it overlooks a canal, but also because of the culture cultivated within the place by the folks who work there. Slowest elevator in the world but somehow, it just adds more charm to the place. Wouldn’t have had it any other way.

The rooms were a bit small. All right for one person, but it would’ve been way too tight for two. Maybe the other rooms are way bigger, I’m not sure.
