Although not opened by the time we arrived, we were offered a stay in a hotel with a great location in exchange and the staff was extremely friendly and approachable, which we appreciated a lot!

Unfortunately the room we booked initially was not ready by our set date, so we didnt get a chance to experience the hotel itself, but staff more than made up for it and i hope we will have a chance to experience their hospitality in person one day!

Very compact but comfortable room. Great lighting; no real daylight, but the backlighting made it feel like real daylight. Also liked the smart little floor light that pops on when you need to go to the bathroom. Checking-in is quick via kiosk and opening doors via phone/WhatsApp/web-portal is very easy/convenient. No need to interact with people at all.

Too bad there was no Nespresso machine or alike on the room (that would have made it perfect).

24 hour reception who were more than helpful and spoke very good english.There is a cafe attached to the hotel that served healthy freshly prepared food and really good coffee. It was in a quiet area but very easy to get into Amsterdam centre. The hotel itself was also very quiet at night. This and the very comfy beds made for good sleep.

Access to hot drinks outside of cafe open hours. We rise early but had to wait.

The coffee bar was very nice and cosy. Good location close to the bus which brings you to the metro towards the city in 10 min. The bed was really comfy

We didn't have a window in the room and i'm a little claustrophobic so I didn't sleep well

it is a very small room but tbh it was all we needed! the bathroom is very comfortable and spacious, the storage under the bed is super handy. plenty of light !

it would have been great to have one more towel for the hands (we only had a floor towel + 2 for the guests) since at one point all the towels were wet. also, it would have been nice to have cups so you can use the tap water without having to go to the lobby.

Loved it! This is a minimalist hotel. You get exactly what is advertised and what you pay for. The property and rooms are clean and aesthetic. The Aircon works perfectly. The bed is comfortable. The staff is cordial and professional. The coffee is decent. The bathroom exceeded my expectations. Bottomline - better to pay a little more and book Poppies rather than staying and sharing your bed at a hostel. 🙂

This is not a problem but a suggestion for future travellers - if you have luggage, best to book a Bolt taxi rather than taking public transport. The walk from the metro / bus is a bit long and the pavement is not really friendly for trolley-suitcases.

The staff is genuine and care about what they do. You can see it in the way the place is designed and the kind of products that are on the menu. Also, great shower and bed!

Well, the room that we had was actually quite small, especially, given that me and my companion aren't the smallest people around. If I had known this upfront, I wouldn't have booked this room. To be honest, I didn't check with the staff if all the rooms were the same size and if there was a possibility to switch rooms. An upside of the small room is, of course, that spend more time outside the room and thereby contribute to your experience. My advice for the staff, in case increasing the size of the room isn't an option, would be to switch the door around, so that one can access the room and continue in a straight line towards the bathroom instead of first having to close the door to be able to access the bath room.

Poppies is a super clean and modern place. It has an easy access with a virtual key that I find very practical. The room had efficient airconditioning which we appreciated as it was quite warm in the city in July. There is an all-day breakfast with different menu options available from the hotel cafe. The food is good and staff members friendly. Poppies is located a couple of kilometres from the Amsterdam railway station in a peaceful residential area with some small businesses, shops and restaurants. The city centre can reached easily free of cost by taking a ferry and walking.

The room was small for two persons and the bed was really close to the door. There wasn't any space on the bed sides so the only way to get to the bed was climbing from the end.

The staff were amazing and friendly. Coffee and food were delicious. Everything was very clean. I love that you can access your room from a link on your phone and also check out via your phone.

The rooms were lovely but given that I get clostraphobic, I would need a little more space. I didn't realise until after I booked that the rooms didn't have windows or any space around the bed. It's not really ideal for more than 1 person I find unless you are travelling with just a back pack as I struggled with space in terms of my luggage. I would still recommend it.

It was super clean and love the vibe of the place, probably the cleanest place I've ever stayed at. Very nice common area and definitely felt comfortable which is good when staying in "hostel" type place. Also the bathroom was beautiful. Would recommend value for money and if you're happy to travel a bit into the city.

The pillows were square which was annoying to sleep on, room was tiny and could barely fit a suitcase without putting it on the bed. The location was further out if you want to visit amsterdam central but can get there by walking, bus or train it just take awhile.
