I really liked this hostel. The price can’t be beat, the cafe had good food and was a great place to just hang out. The rooms were relatively small with only 4-6 bunks in most. The en suite toilet and shower were excellent. Front desk is 24 hours so I was able to check in very late, and there was also a vending machine with lots of snacks that came very in handy after missing dinner while traveling. Everyone who worked here was super friendly and helpful. And while it’s outside the city center, it’s easy to catch the tram a few blocks away. The cost of taking the tram into the city 1-2 times a day was more than made up for by how cheap this place was. You could also rent a bike and easily go that way.

The cafe hours were inconsistent because it seemed like they had some staffing issues, so I couldn’t rely on them for breakfast or lunch because sometimes the kitchen was open and sometimes it wasn’t. However, I could always at least get coffee.

This is a great place to stay if you're planning to visit Amsterdam. It's about a 40-minute walk or just 10–15 minutes by bike from the main city attractions, and you can conveniently rent a bike right across the street. The nearby Javastraat is also worth exploring—full of great local spots. We were a group of seven and booked a six-person room with an extra bed, and it still felt spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing useful amenities like a hair dryer and iron. There’s also a free pool table and foosball table, which added to the fun. The hostel bar offers reasonably priced drinks, and the food was genuinely delicious. As someone who had never stayed in a hostel before, I was pleasantly surprised and completely fell in love with the concept. I highly recommend this place to future travelers!

If you are a soft pillow lover than you wont have the same issue.

- Everything is very clean and works as described. - Very affordable - Staff is very friendly and helpful. - Beds are comfy - shower and toilet in the rooms. - There is no kitchen but a cafe and a large sitting area downstairs - Elevator to get up and down.

- Like in all Stayokay hostels the sink in the room is outside of the shower and the toilet, so it can be noisy when your neighbours are waking hands/brushing teeths when you're asleep - The shower is somewhat messy since there is no inner door separating the showering area - lockers in the rooms are very squeaky - location is rather remote, but there is tram

Staffs are nice. Checked with the heating once I raised out the question and borrowed me a portable heater. Offer different size of rooms. Like 2-, 6- and 8-beds dorm. Should book the whole room if you have over two people travelling together. The restaurant/ common area/ dining area, have no idea how to address, but it’s HUGE. Trust me, this is what you expected when you are not sleeping. Chargers are everywhere, board games, table football and cue sports as well waiting for you to play.

Location is not the best. Even though there is a tram really close by. The housekeeping … I don’t know how to address , but I do not expect an underwear under the sink on the floor , but still super obvious was there for a few days.

I travelled a lot in Europe country and I like a hostel that include a toilet and a bathroom in a room. They were clean and big space for shower. They have a big lobby and a cafe on a ground floor. Very big space in a lobby and you can sit everywhere and it is comfortable.

Their location is a quite far from central if you stay at Stayokay Oost but you can choose to stay at Stayokay Vondelpark if you want to get near to central. Lastly, they didn’t provide soap or showel gel in a bathroom but I know some hostel didn’t provide it and I always bring my one before I travel.

Very nice, modern and clean rooms and the storage boxes easily fit a cabin dimensions suitcase. The common facilities are also great for socializing/trying events with other travelers or simply for spending fun leasure time there. The staff are friendly and helpful providing any clarification needed.

The location is almost half an hour away from the centrer using means of transport or any other famous spot (eg de Pijp quarter) but the area is local and has many nice spots so you can find interesting stores there too.

- Friendly staff, let me store my bags before check-in and after check-out. - The rooms are modern and comfortable, toilets are in the rooms, toilet and shower are separated. - Design and architecture are good. - It is possible to use microwave and water boiler located in the kitchen. - Location is 3 min away from tram station, then you need 10-20 min to get to the centre, you can also walk for 30-45 minutes. There are shops and cafés in the vicinity. - There are lockers in the rooms. - Wi-Fi works easy and fine.

- The ladders to the upper beds are not comfortable, they miss one step in the bottom. - There are no shelves at the bed. - The cooking-related amenities are limited to hot water and microwave oven, although more was not expected from the description on Booking.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, the hostel had excellent facilities and was well looked after, modern and clean. There were a lot of big groups staying at the same time as us but it never felt loud, crowded or that there wasn't enough space for everyone, particularly at breakfast time and in the evenings. Breakfast was great, lots of choice and plenty of seating. Great location for the tram into the city centre. The hostel felt safe and I would happily stay here again as a solo female traveller.

Our room was clean & decent. The hotel lounge area was quite welcoming & entertaining with live music, games & kids zone. There was a male receptionist during night shift on 7th of April who kindly offered to help us find a taxi around 04:30 AM (since the one we booked online didn't show up) and he accompanied us until he made sure we were eventually picked up. We wish him the very best!

Given the location that was a little too far away from the city center, our room could've been a little cheaper.

I really liked the people in reception and the cafe, they made the whole experience worthwhile. The beds are comfortable, and the arrangement of two showers works perfectly. The social life seemed amazing and whilst I didn't particularly partake, they come up with great events and ideas, that definitely makes everyone feel welcome. Getting to Amsterdam took longer than anticipated, but when I found out at first, that I would be delayed, I emailed to see if I was going to miss check in. They got back to me within 15 minutes and said not to worry and that it would be okay to check in when I arrived. Once I then knew I was going to not make it the first night I emailed them and let them know, and they were helpful by sharing sympathy and understanding of the pain of German trains! Communication was brilliant all the way through my stay. When I asked for recommendations, I got given a whole lot of things to do, see and eat/drink. A particular shout out to Avi who was just really helpful and kind, and when I left the hostel after checking out, having left a train ticket, I was chased down and it was given to me, so thank you Avi! Thank you very much for a lovely time in Amsterdam!
