Second time staying with the NH chain of hotels, the first being in Essen. It was the experience in Essen that made me stay with NH again in Groningen, despite being a little dearer than other hotels. Friendly, polite and helpful staff, super comfortable bed and a clean and quiet room, despite being on floor 1. Breakfast was a great choice of cooked, uncooked, cheeses, meats, different cereals, fruits and yoghurts, pastries and cakes. It was all here along with a nice choice of roll and breads. Can’t fault it. Location wise it’s a 20-25 min walk from Groningen main train station but it does sit on a really convenient bus route outside the UMCG medical university; great if your legs aren’t up to it. All of the public transport we used (buses and trains), ran a tap-on-tap-off contactless card system, so don’t worry about having change for ticket machines. BUT, do make sure you have tapped, as there are inspection staff that will randomly check.

Having a wet shave in a sink with no plug is a right pain in the backside. Seriously, just fit a push on/off plug in the sink and make your guest’s life easier!

The hotel is dog friendly, which is a huge plus in the Netherlands. Just 5 minutes walk to city center. 200 meters from underground parking. The room had a nice view of old town and was comfortable. Had amenities. The breakfast was incredibly tasty and large, lots of options. We were there at Christmas and it was well decorated. Bar on ground floor so you can have some drinks in the lobby.

Parking should be discounted if staying at hotel. Dog fee was quite expensive, never had such a high fee anywhere. Rooms quite expensive also, although it seems everywhere in the netherlands is such.

It was great that I could stay here with my dog. I was allowed to check in early and check out of the room late, which really helped me fit a tight work schedule around traveling with a pet in a foreign country. The catering staff were incredibly helpful when I mentioned dietary restrictions and found suitable replacements even after hours. f

The lack of parking is a major issue. It is very expensive to park under the hospital (>22 euro overnight) and also hard to park close to the hotel to unpack the car.

Great hotel in the heart of Groningen! We stayed for one night and were very satisfied. The room was clean, cozy, and well-equipped — comfortable beds and a modern bathroom. A special highlight was the beautiful view from the window — a lovely cityscape to wake up to. The staff was friendly and helpful. If we come back to Groningen, we’ll definitely stay here again!

Nothing too fancy here, just what you need, delivered to you in a very neat and clean package. It is very affordable especially for a longer stay. Room has individual AC which was a big plus. 24 hour ability to get a snack. Would also recommend the bar snacks at Nosh restaurant.

Needed some ice and was told they did not have that available.

Very satisfied with my stay at the NH Groningen! The staff was super friendly and helpful (when I asked beforehand if they have a bike storage for expensive bicycles, they immediatly indicated I could put it in my room). They also lended me a bike to get about in the city for free. My room was quite spacious and bed was really good.

Breakfast is good but a little bit on the price for the variety of options and the bathroom is (although very clean and sufficient) is becoming a bit outdated.

This is the best hotel I have stayed at so far. From a friendly greeting at reception, good sized well appointed room and comfortable, great bathroom. The location was within walking distance to city centre. As mobility impaired I did not go out at night, the attached restaurant was perfect as was the breakfast. And service very attentive.

We booked because they had their own parking and it was a short walk to the centre. The room was large, airy and comfortable. The young man who checked us in could not have been more helpful and charming.

We thought the breakfast was expensive so we did not have it. It is probably worthwhile if you have a full breakfast but we prefer coffee and a croissant.

Room was very well appointed, very clean, breakfast excellent, vast choice of food. Asked for a map and one was immediately available.

Its a fair walk from the station, but there is a bus stop opposite the hotel that is very well serviced from the station. I would suggest that the hotel references this on their website for ease of transfer.

The staff is super kind. The hotel is under small reconstruction, but everything was functional and nothing disturbing. Free bicycle renting is a super feature in the Netherlands, where typically that is the favourite way of transportation in the city centre.
