The two guys who run this place: talking to them was so fun, they were great to ask about the area and for some insight into the city and learning where things are, and also I loved just chilling out in their pub which has a connecting door to the hostel. I was introduced to and given a beginner's lesson in Biljart by one of the regulars, which I'd never seen before! The breakfast room is quiet, and every guest is assigned a table. All of the breakfast essentials were provided including personal cheese and meat platters that are kept in the fridge, next to the cereals/croissants/tea/coffee spread. When the pub opens in the late afternoon, there are one or two microwave food options to order at the bar so you can "eat in" in the evening if you want. The hostel room and communal facilities took me right back to being a kid again on a residential school trip/summer camp-type week. The metal frame bunk beds w/ vinyl mattresses, lockers, the single communal shower, the wood panelling of the breakfast room etc. offer charm that's being removed from a lot of hostels these days... it's the proper old school experience.

I arrived without any shower gear (obviously I'd been spoilt by other newer hostels) - none of that was provided here, so bring your own or you will have to buy new stuff in town (like me). Also something to note is that Hotel 't Anker can't provide laundry facilities for those who have packed light, the nearest launderette is affordable but a half hour walk away.

The room although spartan was clean and comfortable and good value for the money that I paid. The shower and toilet was also clean and well kept. The bar I found to be peaceful and friendly, a good place to meet the locals.

The bar had only one kind of beer on tap and a limited range of bottled beers available. I'm hoping that the management will work on this and make at least a few more varieties of beer available.

Located very centrally in historical town; quiet although central; 10 minutes walk to station and most touristic places ( dutch porcelain (china) museum....) . Spacious familial room. Very helpful staff. Excellent value for the price

Room , especially bathroom, could be modernized. Flooring is a bit dated; nevetherless although old, it remains clean. Staircase (no lift) A kettle or a fridge would be an extra plus .But excellent value considering the price

Our host was very helpful and friendly, suggesting where and how we should walk to see the most of the city, and providing us with a free map. The room was very large and clean, if a bit old, and the bathroom facilities were fine. We had a very pleasant stay overall. The location is exceptional.

Very close to the center and station, the place was very nice and clean. My mom had a small issue with her room but it was quickly solved by the owner, and the staff was super polite I would definitely recommend

Very good stay at the hotel t'Anker. Location of the hotel was easy walk from the train station in the center of town and close to restaurants and grocery stores. Room was comfy, bed was good; shower and washroom were clean and spacious; and the WIFI was good. The buffet breakfast had good variety and served good coffee! The staff were onsite and responded to questions immediately and were very helpful.

Only problem was the room was on a busy street, and given the warm nights the window needed to be open and there was some noise later in the evening. Not a big problem and only really noticeable on the weekend.

For the price, I cannot complain - absolute bargain. It's cheap, there's a lot of young groups on a cheap night out who can be quite noisy. But the room/shower/loos are clean, wifi is good, and you are 5-10 minutes from the city centre on foot.

Highlight for this hostel was definitely the location and the price, one of the cheapest I could find. It is ideal for 1-2 nights. I had a single room, which was comfortable, and clean. The staff was friendly.

The room smell a bit, not sure if it was humid or someone smoke in it, either way it needed a bit of airing. The pillow could be a bit better also.

The staff is very professional and helpful. If you are staying in the dormitory, the services are of standard quality and a very good deal for the money you pay. I would recommend this place to everyone.

The dormitory is a bit crowded with beds but otherwise offers everything you need. Bring your own towel and shower gel.
