We loved the hotel and the location. The staff were wonderful. The room was very clean and comfortable. We loved the view!

After the second day we were there, the shower stated backing up and not draining properly. It also started gurgling, splashing up smelly water into the shower. Staff were notified at 8am and when we returned that night the gurgling continued. Nothing was corrected. We complained again and all they could do is put a bleach tablet, but that did not work. We requested another room, and we were told at 10pm we would have to move to another property on a ship. That was not acceptable.

The hotel was conveniently located next to the cruise terminal. It also had a fully staffed kitchen that served meals throughout the day and they were excellent choices as well. The personnel at the hotel & restaurant were super friendly, helpful and extraordinary in their desire to please the customers. The WIFI was fast. The river views from the room were exceptional. The decor of the hotel was historical as well as modern. An interesting but balanced mix. It's worth the experience. We would stay here again if in Rotterdam.

Have nothing negative to report.

Location, ambiance, room

Restaurant! We had two glitches on two consecutive dinners. One in the terrace (our orders got lost in the shuffle) and the next indoor. After the server took our orders, nothing happened. No water, no utensils, no drinks, and nobody came to reassure us that our drinks will be served shortly. We just walked out after 20 minutes of no activity. No provisions for those with mobility issues, especially on arrival when we had to carry our luggage up a steep flight of stairs and through a narrow door.

Staff was fabulous. Waterfront location was terrific and adjacent to water taxi dock. Hotel’s historic ambience was uniquely beautiful in a nautical museum way. From the cruise ship terminal it was a two block walk— ideal!!!!

Historic building had a lot of stairs. Our $200/ might room’s bathroom was on lower level (down two odd stairs) from the bed and desk. First room we were offered at $180/night was a half floor higher (9 stairs) than where the elevator was located! Our family has mobility challenges so this was unexpectedly hard.

Our room was huge...and spotless. Possibly the cleanness hotel room we've ever stayed in. The king sized bed was unexpected and very comfortable. The bath had both a modern tub and large separate shower with a rain head and a normal head that you could hold if needed. The staff was always anxious to assist in any way, and the main restaurant was a pleasure... excellent food and service.

We were a bit dismayed when we pulled up to the hotel. The age of the building and vacant lot (under construction) immediately adjacent caused us pause. The main entrance requires a set of 9 steps that we didn't anticipate as one of us is handicapped. However, the desk staff noted our arrival and immediately helped with luggage. There is a luggage elevator around the corner, but we had no way of knowing that in advance.

The location seemed a little off the beaten path, but I ended up loving it, close to watertaxi plus tram. I enjoyed watching a cruise ship pull away from the pier.

I felt the lighting in the lobby could be a little brighter. Finding main entrance was a challenge. Be advised, There are a steps to climb because it's an historic building. The rooms are quite large. I felt the wall TV could be a bit bigger since it is on a huge wall. The lightbulbs in the lamps next to my bed did not match. This is a pet peeve of mine so it may not bother another.

Spacious Bedroom … lovely shower ….staff excellent and really friendly and helpful. The Barman was exceptional. Location was excellent for accessing the Cruise Ship. Definitely recommend a stay here ! Regards Debbie from Cornwall UK

Shame there were steps leading to the foyer but it was no problem as the Receptionists helped with our very heavy cases. Nothing we didn’t like but was wondering what the view from the Hotel will be when the Building goes up!

Very comfortable no nonsense hotel with nice mix of historical elements and modern comfort.

The day before arrival we were contacted by the hotel and they offered an upgraded room for 25 EUR per night extra. This room had an outside facing window instead of the cheaper room which only has a window facing the inner courtyard. We did not see the cheaper room, but as the window was fairly small and overlooking a construction site, we doubt if this was worth the extra pay. The room was very however very comfortable and had all amenities as we expected.

We loved that the hotel was so close to the pier. We arrived via a Holland America cruise ship so walking to the hotel was easy. In addition, we walked a great deal following a tour book we had and it's location made things easy.

The stairs were a bit of a challenge. Also--it would have been nice to have a small refrigerator and microwave in our room.

The hotel is characterful historical place, not to be compared with modern high rises around the building. Rooms are very nice, spacious, modern and the bed sleeps very well. Personnel helpful and friendly. When we will come back to Rotterdam, this will be our hotel again. You can take water taxis as a way of transport into the city!
