The setup of the bed with shelving around it was great. Lots of shelves and places to put possessions even though the room itself wasn’t huge, which is a great space saver. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was only 15 min walk from the train station and was nice and close to attractions.

The building nextdoor has construction happening and my room was next to it. A jackhammer woke me up at 7.30am and continued consistently until midday. When I requested to move rooms and the staff were very kind and found me another room in a different part of the hotel. It's not the fault of the hotel and it's a shame that they're being impacted by the inconsiderate workmen nextdoor. If the noise hadn't been an issue I'd have nothing I didn't like about this hotel.

The hotel is lovely. Great design and facilities. Wonderful contemporary design and sustainable materials. My 17 year old son absolutely loved it and we enjoyed playing ping pong, but also using the communal spaces to do a bit of work and studying. We unfortunately only discovered the gym in the basement as we were checking out, but it's good to know for next time.

It would be good if there was a coffee machine or a kettle in the room. The room was a little small but well designed. As it happened, there was a lot of drilling from next door, which apparently the hotel management had not been told about. It was very inconvenient but the hotel management explained they had not been forewarned, so it's just unfortunate.

It was a spontaneous 2-night trip to Rotterdam and I booked this hotel mainly for its cool and aesthetically pleasing design, and the approach to sustainability. I stayed in "The Cosy" room, which, while on a smaller size side, was completely perfect for my needs and well organized, with plenty of shelves to put things and sockets to plug in your chargers. I liked the private bathroom separated from the sleeping area. The breakfast was entirely plant-based and very tasty. The AC was working flawlessly and the room temperature could be adjusted (stayed during hot summer weather with temperatures over 30 degrees).

I think the queen bed consisted of two single mattresses rather than a single one, which was a bit unfortunate if you're used to sleep in the middle of the bed - I had to move over to the side, otherwise it was quite uncomfortable. Also definitely missed one or two hangers for towels in the bathroom.

As a frequent traveller, this hotel is hands down one of the best places I have ever stayed. Every detail has been meticulously thought about and cared for, making it the most guest-friendly establishment and pleasant comfortable stay. Check-in and check-out was ridiculously easy and straight forward, bike rentals available right from the hotel, beautiful rooms and clean bathrooms, ample communal space for working and relaxing, great food and drinks from the bar downstairs and even gym classes we were sad there wasn't an opportunity to try. Fantastic location - just around the corner from Witte de Withstraat and easy to get to/from the airport or train station using public transport closeby.

A bit more attention can be paid to dusting in the rooms, but the rest of it was very clean.

Really nicely designed and slightly quirky hotel and room, well located in the middle of Rotterdam. The check-in process was supposed to be all digital and self-service but a member of staff did have to help us. Another member of staff helped with check-out and told us where there were some coded lockers where we could leave our bags for the day. Room was very comfortable, bathroom very nice. Didn't use the TV at all but when we arrived it said 'Welcome [my name]' which was a nice touch.

It's really cool that they're an eco-hotel but would have made more sense not to be serving meat on their menu!

We loved the room, very bright & clean upon arrival. Everything was brand new & could chromecast to the tv. Although small, there was a lot of storage area. Shower was nice along with the bathroom. Rooms are nice & quiet, unable to hear noise from the hall. The vibe downstairs was great (communal area / lobby) comfortable for an evening drink & family / work friendly. Not a party hotel, comfortably quiet. Good snack selection at the bar.

Although the staff were very friendly, they could do with both more training & additional staff due to volume of customers. For example trying to buy drinks from the bar in the evening became a difficult task as the staff member (although admittedly new) wasn't familiar with the wine availability or how to serve mixed drinks. When we requested additional towels to the room a couple of days after arriving, we were sent bath mats. The watsapp feature is a great concept, but needs improvement on execution. From what I could see there are a lot of young eager staff, that are missing the guidance of an experienced senior hotel manager. With these small things, I think it would improve the overall experience.

Very prime location

I had a wonderful stay at THE USUAL in Rotterdam. The staff were friendly, professional, and always ready with great local tips. The hotel’s modern design and cozy atmosphere made it a pleasure to come back to after a day out. My room was spotless, well-equipped, and incredibly comfortable. I also appreciated the eco-friendly touches and how quiet it was, even in such a central location. With the restaurants, and shops just around the corner, the location couldn’t be better. Highly recommend THE USUAL for anyone looking for a convenient, stylish, and welcoming place to stay. I’ll definitely return!

Super convenient location - very close to many shopping areas and multiple restaurants, and only 15 minutes walk to the harbor to catch the water taxi/bus. I appreciated the hotel's commitment to sustainability and also liked the quirky eco design aspects in the room. Very modern hotel with a cool bar/working space in the lobby area. I requested a quiet room and the staff were happy to help me out - no similar rooms were available and I ended up getting a complementary upgrade, which was much appreciated.

The bar and lounge area are really cool. The decor and furnishings everywhere and in the studio were pleasant. Sound proofing was reasonable. The separation of the double bed area from the kitchenette and sofa bed gave a little privacy.

No privacy for using wash basin and getting in and out of the shower! A partition of some kind would be better. The sofa bed was not comfortable. I had to ask for a saucepan as there was only a frying pan in the kitchenette. Another shelf in kitchen area would have allowed for more usable work surface.
