Location is great. The walls are thick meaning there is absolutely no noise coming into the room from other rooms. The old-world charm of the building is great. The A/C worked well to heat the room in the cooler nights. The complimentary glass of port each night was a nice touch.

A lot of morning light came into the room. A pelmet over the top of the curtains or a better black-out system would make the rooms perfect. The bed was great but the pillows were a bit too soft. I suggest that the hotel invests in some rubber foam pillows. They last and hold their shape. Otherwise the room was very comfortable.

Brilliant location, quirky hotel with bags of history. Loved being in a room in a section that used to be a vault to store wills and public records. Still retains huge thick steel doors. Complimentary port in the corridor to help yourself to. Beautiful staircase and chandelier. Just full of character, and with location right on town centre's doorstep. Fabulous bakery across the street, Brumby's, sells excellent pastries and croissants, and good coffee.

One or two kinks in the room, like iffy air conditioning and the like, but no real inconvenience, and strangely, actually added to the character that makes the place.

Lovely building with a history. Large impressive bed, and a large room. Nice view from window. Loved there was a little sitting area upstairs making use of the original vault doors, and complimentary port!Nice cocktail bar downstairs with friendly staff, I had a drink as a solo traveller at a little table. Was able to cast to TV with my phone. Heatpump in room. A few carpark spots available a few meters from the private hotel entrance (your key lets you in), so try to get one. Otherwise metered parking stops at 1pm on Sat for street parking in Blenheim, Sun parking is completely free, and metered parking kicks in again at 9.30am Mon! How about that? So park anywhere on the street Sat afternoon and your weekend is sorted.

Windows not double-glazed, on a Saturday some boom boom boom music from nearby very audible when trying to sleep. No lift in building as it is old, but staircase wide and staff willing to help you with bags.

Beautiful classic hotel in the heart of Blenheim. We had a king room, huge, gorgeous 4 poster bed, windows on 2 walls, plush decor. Building is the.old trust building, some rooms in vaults, with the original metal vault doors. Press coffee, TV with hotel supplied Netflix, silent efficient AC The hotel isn't creepy or haunted. Sometimes we have trouble in an older hotel, not here, totally clean, the best sleeps!!

Bathroom in our room was tiny and the AC vented into the shower so it dripped non stop but you get used to it

Had a rum night downstairs but music stopped at 10pm so no worries. Breakfastwas a surprise as didnt know the restaurant had changed to breakfast etc. breakfast was delicious, coffee great. More people need to know.

I hadn’t realised no lift so was painful for me to navigate stairs up and down. Became very anxious about it. I hear 2 new downstairs rooms going in - will book specifically in future. I use a walking stick and walk with great pain. Perhaps more info on website.

We are very fortunate inasmuch as we are able to travel extensively and currently live overseas. This hotel is, Hands Down, the best hotel we’ve ever used. From the second we walked in the door it was obvious the D’Urville was going to be different. I didn’t know where to look first as the decoration is so fabulous. We stayed one night only unfortunately.. our room surpassed all expectation ..then a pre dinner drink in the cocktail bar which was delicious and another visual feast ! And dinner…completely amazing food which took us to new places! Love the ambience created which I interpreted as being in a Rudyard Kipling book! I’ve run out of superlatives! Apart from the coffee the breakfast perfect … but now I’m being picky!

A little espresso with breakfast would have been perfect!

Really lovely, welcoming staff. Beautiful building (former bank) in a great location for access to everything in the town centre. Very nice room with a large, comfortable bed. A memorable touch was the fact that they leave a decanter of port in the communal area on the approach to the bedrooms and you can help yourself to a free nightcap. There is limited parking available on a first come, first served basis and we were lucky enough to secure a space, which was very useful. Good cocktail bar and restaurant in the hotel - we used both and we're very happy with both the service and the food/ drink.

The breakfast included in our deal was fine, but the coffee was very disappointing compared to the general standard in NZ, which is usually excellent.

An old hotel in the centre of Blenheim with loads of character . Loved our room based on an old captains cabin with a four poster bed . Coffee and tea and milk and toiletries provided. A lovely welcome at reception on check in from Saskia. Bar does great cocktails too.

There was a cracked window in our room , the floor creaked , the bathroom is a bit tight for space but none of these detracted from our stay .

Absolutely gorgeous boutique hotel. Great fun to stay at for a variety of reasons -- the theme(s), care in detail, fun bar, really lovely staff. Fabulous location, very comfortable bed, excellent shower pressure in shower! Super great employee also let me keep my bag in the office while I waited for my bus for a few hours!

I just wish the lights weren't always that dark in the room! I love the theme but it was difficult to get out of bed and get ready in such dim lighting.

A great experience. In the old public trustee building we stayed in a vault….yep the door to our room was 5 inches thick. In a quirky twist our room was purple, I mean PURPLE! So 70’s and so fun. Furniture was great and bed comfortable. Free port for guests left on a tray outside the rooms. Breakfast was exactly what we needed. Plenty of choice and lots of caffeine. What more could I want?

There was no lift so it was a bag drag up the stairs. Fortunately we only needed to do this once.
