Actually, it exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this to anyone who is going to the Picton Ferry and needs a place to stay outside of Christchurch. It was very clean, albeit the bed was a little soft for me, but that is only my preference. It's a short 3-hour trip to Picton from there so if you have an afternoon ferry crossing this place is perfect. The coffee was amazing in the room as well. Breakfast was not included, but this was fine as this is a Motel, not a borstal. Would give it 5 stars as a rating if I could.

Staff were very welcoming and hospitable. The apartment was really big, clean and well furnished. The bed and linens were really comfortable. Surprisingly quiet considering we were next to the main road.

Having an oven would have been nice, but they are clear in the description what is there and the hotplate and microwave were fine, so no real grumble.

The room was large and very clean and comfortable. More than met our expectation. Linen was great. Would recommend staying if your passing through. Although on highway the traffic wasn't too much of a bother.

Shower was tight and you had to step up into it and the shower rose was hard to manage. The couch needs replacing.

Really appreciated the personal touch in this lovely family-run motel. They were super accommodating of our late check in and the room had everything we needed for a comfortable night. A great place to stop en route to Christchurch. Also of note is the café next door for breakfast – great food and coffee and lovely staff!

The country location...loved looking out of the kitchen window at sheep and cows and trees etc

Lots of sachets of coffee etc but no scissors in the kitchen drawer to cut them open TV wasn't easy to work out...instruction booklet there but after a long day of travel one just wants to turn it on and flop down in front of the tv ...too complicated as is, Please just set it up to be easier to use

Couldn't believe what we got for our money. Really big lounge/ kitchen/diner. Great large bedroom and friendly staff. Would recommend it to anyone.

Spotlessly clean,spacious and very well provisioned. The kitchen had everything I needed. It lay well to the sun. Reading light over the bed was great (this is a failing in many motels) Provision of a potted plant and a wall clock gave it a homely feel

The bathroom is adequate but dated. It's close to the main road so a little noisy.

Very welcoming host, thanks David. Convenient location right on the main road, but not too noisy. Fresh milk in a jug in the fridge and complimentary shortbread - yum.

The glass back door leaks a lot of heat on a cold night.

Hostess was beautifully welcoming. Room was updated, clean and comfortable and spacious Thought has obviously been put into the room, little touches that make a place feel like home were included.

The shower space was a little tight, but immaculately clean.

Loved the location - so easy to access. Unit was clean, tidy, spacious, fabulous and helpful hosts. Willl definitely stay again - and even longer.

Shower was abit awkward to get in and out of for us larger folk with bad knees....
