We loved the whole vibe of Hokitika. The room we stayed in was great with the sea views. Could not fault the food or the service (lovely friendly staff) the lady on reception was outstanding. We really enjoyed our dinners and breakfasts. 10/10. Thanks for such a great stay. We would defintely stay there again next time we come back.

We did stay in the Penthouse for one night, but were a bit disappointed. Breakfast maybe should have been included in the cost of that room as there was nothing really for the money apart from a big area as you get the same view from the other rooms really. Found it also a bit dated in the living area could do woth a freshen up for that sort of money. The shower was a bit dangerous I thought as the bath sort of jutted out and it was hard to get your head under the water to wash hair.

Very nicely positioned hotel with an ocean view and parking at the back just in front of your room (at least for our room at the ground floor). Check-in/check-out process was very simple. The best thing was to have meals in the nearby Oceanview Restaurant. It was amazing food - we had a great dinner for our anniversary and had a la-carte breakfast next morning and were very happy with both of them.

Nothing is wrong with the hotel or restaurant, but you need to be prepared for the quite strong wind as the hotel is located on the beachfront (therefore the name). At least during our stay in the evening, the wind stopped us from walking around in the evening. Next morning it was fine for a few hours but then it got stronger again.

I believe this is the only 4 stars hotel we can find in this small Hokitika town, and we booked it. The location is superb, basically it is located at the most happening part in town, ample of dining options down the road, and the supermarket is just right opposite, very convenient if you wish to stock up something for road trip.

Limited facilities available, room looks a bit old with only basic amenities available. Anyhow, it is understandable and we can't ask for more, especially this is just a small town, it's sufficient enough for a stopover night before heading to other places.

Location was good; the size of rooms (living room & bedroom) was very generous; and the bedroom had wonderful big windows looking onto the water.

The penthouse where we stayed had a strange arrangement where it could only be accessed through stairs, not an elevator. We had to carry our bags a full floor upstairs to get to it. There was no help to carry the bags; the front desk was thinly staffed. In addition, the AC in the living room was not working, and despite our request to get if fixed, it never was, and neither was there any explanation or attempt to apologize.

- A suite room is spacious with wide ocean view. Perfect for sunset watching. Big room on top floor with private elevator ( for going down only) - jacuzzi tub was great - New world supermarket is just across the street

- EV chargers did not work as promised (mobile app could not be downloaded and charger looked outdated and no cable) . Luckily there was ChargeNet 50 kW just across the street. - suite room on 4th floor and elevator only reach 3rd floor, meaning walking up one flight of stairs. - no kitchenette or microwave, even in the suite - relatively slow WiFi speed especially while watching streaming eg. YouTube or Netflix - AC in room looked filthy, need regular service - should include body lotion in toiletries

Comfortable bed. Room was warm. Restaurant excellent - we are there twice and it was high class. The restaurant staff were really friendly and professional.

Our daughter tried to organise a surprise voucher for us to use in the restaurant but the staff member she communicated with did not follow through and so the surprise was spoilt and nothing was organised. This was disappointing for our daughter. No microwave in the room. We understand there are ‘safety’ concerns but every other establishment we have stayed in has one. No lift - although there are not too many stairs, it’s still not desirable to have to carry luggage up them.

Great location, close to the beach, very clean, looks like a new build. Very comfortable beds. Nice restaurant with beach views attached.

Photos are deceiving. The photo of the room I booked looked like it was ground floor looking at the beach. The room I got was on the first floor overlooking the car park. There are no lifts which was not mentioned anywhere in the property description. I have knee issues so the stairs were a problem for me. The bar fridge didn't get cold. Mentioned it to reception. The fridge was swapped over but it wasn't any better.

It was winter yet the room was beautifully warm and cosy from the sun-drenched veranda. The view is exceptionally good for watching the sunset, and the location was perfect. It is super easy to explore either the beach or around town on foot from this location.

The restaurant was doing a locals Karaoke night, and the singing was torturously appalling. To be fair the hotel reception staff warned us it was on. Plus, the staff aren't liable for whomever sucks down too many spritzers and mistakenly concludes they're a singing super star! So, in future I would dine somewhere else on any Karaoke night.

The location of this accommodation situated right along the beach, it is easy to find this location, there are enough parking slots within the hotel compound. There is a supermarket right across the hotel. You can find great fish and chip restaurant nearby too. The hotel room and toilet is clean. The room may not be very spacious but enough to fit our luggage. The room is warm during winter. There is a heated rack in the toilet that impressed me it helps to keep the towel warm.

The breakfast selections within the hotel are limited. As hokitika is not as vibrant as city like Queenstown, so we do not have much food options around the location early in the morning. However, the breakfast from the hotel was decent enough. :)

We needed a quick stopover during a long drive up the west coast, it was very cheap price, but was a modern hotel with a spotless clean room, right on the beach. Free hotel parking!

Outside the window, was another low roof , with 3 chimney type vents or fans through the roof possibly from the kitchens, about 3 ft from our open window, the constant drone of these vents meant we had to close the windows to stop the noise in the heat of summer. Probably just the room we had, but this venting noise made this disappointing.
