The accommodation is part of a restaurant building, but the guest area is well separated with its own private entrance, which gives a good sense of privacy. There is ample street parking around the property, which was convenient. The room itself was just as shown in the photos—clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. While there isn’t a stove for cooking, there is a pantry equipped with a microwave, which is useful for preparing simple meals. Overall, a pleasant and hassle-free stay.

It is exactly what it claims only more comfy and clean. Terrific value. We wanted to walk the Gorge and visit to lake so stayed two nights on a long road trip. Super comfortable beds. Scrupulously clean. Two shared showers and two shared loos (all separate for around six rooms so no waiting). And a useful little kitchenette with microwave etc.

One review spoke about thin walls and they were but as a result people seemed very respectful especially early leavers. Nothing not to like.

Michelle was very welcoming and showed us around and to our room. There was a small kitchen area for patrons to use. Room, shower, toilet were very clean and comfortable. A good night's sleep was had. The pub is not open Monday's which made for a quiet evening seeing the sunset on the beach. Lovely. Added bonus was the cabinet with jade art/jewellery created by local artist Gary. Fabulous to support local! Thank you Michelle for being so kind.

The place was very clean and went well beyond simply being a couple of beds in a room. There was a real intentionality behind everything and plenty of thoughtful touches: things like soaps and shampoos in the right places, laundry bins to put towels, well stocked floor mats in the shared showers, stocked clean kitchenware in the shared kitchenette, a clean fridge, clear signage, etc. The staff were also super helpful and pleasant.

I honestly can't think of any suggestions, my stay here was awesome.

The hostess Michelle was super friendly and humorous. We changed to a family room which was great, neat beside table shelves something I haven't seen anywhere else. We had dinner at the hotel and it was excellent and value for money. Even got a takeaway box because we couldn't eat it all. We would recommend anyone to stay there, as we would if we visit Hokitika again

Nothing to not like

The owner was extremely friendly and helpful, I felt very welcome there. The hotel is attached to a pub and is not very far from the city centre, so it's easy to get food and drink. The little kitchen available to guests was quite good as well (it had a fridge, free milk, and a sink as far as I remember). The room was comfortable, two single beds plus a little table and a window.

I was a little concerned that I couldn't lock my window, as my room was on the ground floor (as were all the other rooms). I'm not sure if this was just my room though. Everything else was great.

Clean and tidy room, showers, toilet and kitchen nook were very clean. Staff were very friendly. The room was small, and bit cramped when I added our luggage, however the bed was big and comfortable. Hand basin in room was great to have. Nothing was too much bother for the staff, they went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Meals in the pub dining room were great value for money and very handy to be able to eat where we were staying.

Perfectly comfortable, warm and cozy place to spend a night or two during the chilly winter months (featuring electric blankets!). Very clean too. The vibe reminded me of staying at grandma's house. Landlady comes across as a bit brisk but she was very helpful.

Walls are a bit thin, didn't bother me too much but I imagine privacy could be a concern for others

The rooms are simple but have everything that you need. Each room has an own sink and comfortable beds. The shared bathrooms are very clean. There are no cooking facilities, only a microwave, fridge and a toaster, but apart from that the kitchen is well equipped and there are many options to eat out, includingthe hotel pub which offers dinner. The owner is very friendly and helpful.

Location very good. Very pleasant accommodation, all clean, comfy bed, and I was made to feel welcome, good value for money. Kitchen area a nice surprise (large fridge, hot water boiler, sink, microwave), and nice to have coffee/tea available in the room

It’s a shame the bar wasn’t open a bit later, I went back to the hotel about 7.30pm and the bar was closed.
