Great location, literally around the corner from the main strip of restaurants/cafes. The beach was just around the corner too! Room was well furnished, really loved the space provided. Beautiful bathroom, heaps of space. Modern facilities. Bed was amazing, we slept so well both nights! Check in and check out was very easy with clear instructions. Overall a great stay, will absolutely be back here next time we're in Hokitika!

The only thing is that sound travels throughout the different rooms. We could hear people from rooms on both sides. There is signage to ensure people are kept quiet after 10pm, and it never bothered us. Just a thing to note really.

Wowed by the decor on entering, so lovely and clean. Read the back story in the guest book..very interesting! Loved the touches that were referencing the old fireststation. Great detail had been gone to to ensure there was everything we needed, even umbrellas in the hallway to borrow incase the weather was wet. The bed was comfortable and the shower had good pressure, loved having the lounge area for the evenings too.Great restauraunts in the area, we particularly liked Thatcher & Small.

We could hear a noisy family next to us but that's the same in any hotel and it was quiet overnight.

From the moment I read about the Hokitika Fire Station Boutique Accommodation, I wanted to stay there, and I am so glad that we got the chance to! It is a true gem! Hokitika itself is a wonderful town and the Fire Station is the perfect place to stay. Our room was beautifully decorated and was huge! Very comfortable for sitting in the evening, for sleeping, and for having a quick breakfast in the morning. We could walk everywhere we wanted to once we had checked in, with lots of restaurants, galleries, and the beach very close by. Highly recommended!

Our only regret is that we did not stay more than one night. This place and Hokitika are both worth a longer visit.

I LOVED this little hotel! It was really clean, modern, spacious and comfortable. Right in town, so the location was perfect. The theme of the firehouse was felt throughout, with lots of little touches, including a couple of old firemen's helmets in the room, and a fireman's pole! It was really cool to stay in a place with such rich history and a fascinating story.

No complaints. But you should know there isn't a lift to get to the second floor, but I was lucky my partner carried my heavy suitcase up the stairs! haha

It was beautifully presented, it felt like we were the first to use an expensively renovated property. Every thought had been put in to ensuring we had every facility we would need. We loved it!

Only a couple of things which with the floor plate of the (vintage) property you can’t do anything about. A second bathroom (or just toilet) and a bit more room in the one side of the bed in the master. But neither diminished our enjoyment at staying at such a well thought through and kitted out apartment. I only mention constructively in case you are in the business of kitting out future properties. Thank you for letting us use your fab l place

We loved everything about our 1 night stay. It was a beautiful boutique apartment that had everything you needed in the room. The owners did an amazing job with decorating the building, I loved the photos and names of past firefighters to identify each room. So may interesting 'things' in and around the entrance of the building and in our room. It had so much character, especially the old fire engine parked out the front. Loved, loved, loved our stay at Hokitika Fire Station Boutique Accommodation.

We were only able to stay 1 night this time, we will be back.

If we could give the Fire Station Accommodation and their staff 11/10 we would. We stayed in the 3 bedroom Chief Henshaw ground floor apartment and it was amazing. Modern features to a historic building. Marvellous attention to detail, very clean and the staff were very easy to deal with. Situated in a quiet street within easy walk of great restaurants and bars. Highly recommend you won’t be disappointed

Nothing. If I had to be really picky the bedrooms are narrow with not a lot of room beside the bed to squeeze out but this didn’t worry us

Absolutely lovely. Everything thought of and provided. The renovation of an old fire station has been done superbly. Washing facilities downstairs were best we’ve experienced on our journeys. Room spacious and bed super comfy.

Heat Pump! 😢 The heat pump started up every 10mins and literally sounded like a car starting up and driving slowly down our driveway. (We live on 5 acres out of town). I woke up so many times during the night in a panic only to sink back realising it was the heat pump. Not sure what you do to stop this, but for this reason (and this reason only) we wouldn’t stay again. Which is sad cause everything else is perfect and I’ve rated as such 😘

Absolutely LOVED the Fire Station. Incredibly cool property with everything we could have asked for. Well equipped and absolutely spotless. Laundry and outdoor area with fire pit were welcome additions. The property manager was super helpful at recommending places to see. Hokitika is such a cool little town. Great shops and beautiful beach. Loved everything about out visit.

Location was central to where I wanted to be able to walk to. There was a table so I could do a little necessary work. Parking very convenient. We got a ground floor apartment and so I did not have to drag a heavy bag up the stairs.

Air conditioning only in the lounge room. It faced away from bedrooms and so the bedrooms were hot and stuffy. Our front door did not lock when closed. This meant that we left the apartment and anyone with access to the block (other guests & staff) could have entered our apartment. The door needs to close properly or a sign on the back of the door to remind guests to bang the door closed.
