After a long drive we were welcomed by Mark who checked us in and offered my husband and me a glass of wine and a beer. Wow what a lovely touch! He showed us personally to our two bedroom cottage and went through all the details of the tv, air conditioning and security key details etc. It was such a cute cottage with our own access to the beautiful pool with lush surroundings. We loved all his cats who seemed to roam around freely. The smart TV was a bonus with access to all the apps for our nighttime viewing. Beds were super comfortable, kitchen was well equipped and bathroom was modern and easy. Our towels were changed daily which was also a lovely touch. The motel is perfectly located in Kerikeri for all the shops, cafes and restaurants and tourist activities. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful hosts who were friendly and accommodating (we were grateful for the opportunity to store our luggage for several hours before and after our stay so that we could sightsee.) Spotlessly clean unit with great amenities and comfortable beds. Quiet surroundings and pretty garden setting. We appreciated the breakfast with coffee/tea, juice, toast/spreads, cereal, yoghurt, and fruit. Excellent location near the Kerikeri Stone Store and Kemp House and within walking distance of lovely restaurants and cafes.

The hotel was in a beautiful location, surrounded by palm trees, and close to the town centre. Kerikeri is a gorgeous town, so green and charming. The apartment was of a good size, with a kitchen annexe, and it contained all the essentials. The bathroom was of good standard, too.

The bed was supposed to be king-size or large double, but it was just a double, and we didn't have enough space. It wasn't comfy, either, and we had a bad night. The hotel owner was so keen to take the payment that he didn't even wait for our arrival, although we turned up quite early around 3 pm. He also charged my credit card, which I didn’t want to use as it involved extra charges from my bank. So, in the end, it cost me more than it should. The air-con was too strong and just over the bed, so we had to turn it off, but then we were very hot at night.

Parking is a bit tight but no biggie. Only downside is there was pretty much no Sky TV functionality in our room. Apparently due to atmospheric conditions. It was raining and at times not hard. Surprised a bit of rain completely shuts down tv reception. Other than that a great stay

This is the second time we've stayed here and again we enjoyed it. Mark was so lovely, the cottage was clean and well-appointed, it was quiet and we all slept well. Fabulous pool and the choccies at reception, cookies/milk/water in our room and available board games were nice little extras. Great location. Oh and the air conditioning was amazing

Our room was tidied up each day (beds made, cookies & tea/coffee re-stocked, any dishes we'd not gotten to yet were done etc) but our wet towels weren't taken or new ones supplied (though we could access more from the guest services area) and it wasn't vacuumed during our (3-night) stay. Also, although the pressure is great, there is only a rain shower head and no regular shower head so although it might be lovely if washing your hair - it was a bit impractical and trying to keep hair dry was tricky. The kids struggled a bit too.

Wow, this has been a great experience! The Colonial House Motel is a lovely place, a beautiful garden, nice rooms, filled with hospitality. Owner Mark personally showed us our room, making us feel welcome from the very first second on. The room is equipped with everything an (overseas) tourist needs. In our room there was even a travel adapter power plug. Laundry service is available complete with clothes airers. When we arrived, Mark was working in the garden. Upon arrival he said we came on a good time: time also for a short break from gardening. This was another way we felt very welcome. The owners not just own this place, they live it. They live hospitality. Thanks very much, Mark and Paula. I would highly recommend the Colonial House Motel for anyone travelling in the Kerikeri and Bay of Islands area.

The cleanliness of the room, the comfortable bed & pillows, & the central location. Appreciated the extras, like the complimentary waters, cookies & nice bathroom products. Freshly decorated with some nice interior features.

There was a bit of road noise from a busy main road down below the motel. Rooms were surrounded by lush tropical bush, but the room was a little bit dark. The room was very compact but had comfortable furnishings.

From the moment we arrived the owner met us in a warm and friendly manner. Took us to our room that was clean and quiet. Asked if we need anything to ask. I felt ok to ask. The space was warm and comfortable. We (6 of us) all said how well we all slept. There was everything we needed in the kitchen and bathroom spaces. Thank you for having us.

I had made an error in the booking but our charming host, Mark was amazing and fitted us in, changing other pre- bookings to the Motel as we needed His kind attention was extraordinary. He even gave us a complimentary drink on arrival. Quiet location, spotlessly clean and extremely well appointed suite. Everything was perfect.

Lovely property! Excellent privacy from road. The individual chalets are well laid out. Everything was well maintained and clean. On arrival we were provided an unexpected complimentary drink and given a tour of our studio unit and how everything worked. The units facilities were clean and modern. The bed was very comfortable and entertainment offered was of a high standard.
