Our upgrade to a first floor, 2 bedroom, self-catering apartment in this two-storey motel was most welcome. Apart from the extra space, the outlook from the balcony was excellent, looking across the river. The manager was very friendly and helpful. There are good onsite laundry facilities ($). Parking and access was easy. The motel has a small pool and offers kayaks for use on the river (although we didn't use either of these). The nearby craft brewery provides excellent food options (and great beer!).

Not specifically something we didn't like, because we were upgraded. Our original booking was for a ground floor studio, which is on the level of the parking area on one side and of the BBQ/pool area on the other. Those ground floor apartments are likely to be noisy and to lack privacy. So it is well worth being on the upper floor!

For us, this was all about the location. We had a view of the falls from right outside our bedroom door, the gardens were beautiful, and it was close enough to the town (~3.5km) for easy access. There is a great trail nearby, too - good for running or walking. The property was undergoing some maintenance, and the pull wasn't full, but we can see that ordinarily, this would be lovely. There is no measure to just how friendly and helpful the proprietor is - Mike is simply an amazing host. The facilities in the room were quite adequate, if not entirely luxurious, and there were a few unexpected commodities given to us when we checked in - just a few neat extras that showed kindness and thought. More importantly, the room was clean and well maintained.

The only thing that was obvious was a bit of a musty smell, but we popped the air conditioner on to dry and this dissipated after a few hours. No doubt this was due to being right next the waterfall.

Michael was very welcoming and informative about the facilities on arrival, e.g. kayaks, etc. He also advised that there was an issue with the internet and was waiting for Chorus for this to be sorted. The grounds were lovely and are well looked after. The rooms are a little dated, however this was easy to look past as it was very clean and had great amenities. The swimming pool right outside the unit door was awesome with great seating around it. An outdoor couch and dining table in the alcove outside the unit ranchslider was also a great place to sit and have breakfast in the morning or read a book. Great value for money with a nice sized room and it's close proximity to Paihia.

Being without internet was a little bit of an issue but it was explained and was just a matter of waiting for Chorus which was outside Michael's control.

Easy to find, quiet considering it’s on a main road, quick and easy to get to Paihia. Plenty of parking available. The Phat brewery is 150m away has great food and beer. The pool was clean and inviting although didn’t use it. Spacious unit with a couch for tv watching. Manicured grounds were clean and tidy. Each room has additional outdoor seating which is nice and a nice outlook to the falls. Staff were friendly.

The lighting is poor with various switches all around the room. Tv only has live programs so nothing extra provided.

A pleasant stay for the area! While the motel was basic, as expected for a small town, it had some nice touches. The TV was small but offered Netflix, the shower, though simple, had great water pressure, and the bed was average but comfortable enough. The highlight was the balcony overlooking the lagoon and nearby mini waterfall—a lovely surprise. The host was truly memorable. His exceptional customer service, local knowledge, and excellent recommendations elevated the experience and made it far more enjoyable than anticipated. A solid choice for a short stay!

Amazing service from Michael. Lots of info, assisted with everything we needed. While a unique style, we had a very comfortable, clean room with a great view of Haruru Falls. Kayak and pool were excellent, and Michael provided us with a pickup service at the end of our walk to Waitangi. Short walk to call brewery/pizza place for dinner. Noting that the room we had was dated but cosy and completely adequate for our needs. This place wont be for everyone but was a lovely surprise for us with excellent service.

Bed could have been slightly comfier.

Wonderful upstairs 2 bedroom apartment with sweeping river, falls, territorial view. Spacious accommodation, more than we are used to. Kitchenette, balcony with loveseat and dining table for 4. Lounge chairs on the waterfront and pool (currently being serviced and unavailable). Mr. Michael is an exceptionally nice host with plenty of local knowledge and suggestions for regional activities. Perfect place to unwind.

The apartment, although a little small had most things we needed and clean. The spa bath was a great touch. The view from the hotel was fantastic and the pool looked great lit up at night. Staff were friendly and kept in touch with us throughout our booking and went the extra mile to help us when we had to add extra people to the booking at short notice. I would definitely come back for a longer time next time

Nothing, it was great

The location is quiet, beautiful and just a short walk to the falls, it is a little out of town but very relaxing. The river flows at the bottom of the hill where the accommodation is located. It is great for families - has a pool - small one for little swimmers and a larger pool for the “big” swimmers. Michael and his team are wonderful hosts, I have no hesitation recommending this hotel.

Comfortable room with good bed and lovely views. Hosts (Michael) was very attentive and even put on a free New year's party on the grounds with a live band and fireworks against the backdrop of the waterfalls.

Not that I was on holiday to use the WiFi or the TV, but there were a few quiet times that it would have been nice to relax and watch Netflix or use my phone, unfortunately the bandwidth was sporadic (likely based on use of other guests), so if possible, increasing the bandwidth of the internet or ensuring the wifi is working in every room would be great.
