Beautiful location, stunning views, and lovely facilities. Stayed in Lodge 4, kitchen had everything we needed (fridge, stove/microwave, cooking utensils), bathroom was clean and spacious (great shower with excellent water pressure and heat - we came in July and the bathroom heater was a welcome bonus). Bedroom was very nice, clean bedding and very cosy and warm. Access to room is via lockbox (like an Airbnb) and there is no reception; however we happened to see Sue on site when we arrived who was extremely polite, welcoming and helpful. Great stay for a great price.

Television is small but functional, remote for television is slow to respond to channel changes. I'm being very pedantic I know; but the place was just so lovely it's all I can think of.

bedroom : A very comfortable bed ; place to hang clothes with hangers, good sized side tables, plenty of space and a spectacular view !! Kitchen and lounge area were also very comfortable - good to have a large table. Sofa was large and two wicker armchairs meant plenty of seating choice . Didn't use , but appreciated the air con units. Bathroom was large, excellent shower with plenty of pressure and lovely toiletries. Towels were large and fluffy and extra bonus of the extra two striped towels for outdoor use. View of lake was superb , as was the privacy from the other units - very well designed. Loved the outdoor table and wooden lounger :)

The location and view where superb. The room was very comfortable with excellent heating. The rail in the shower and toilet was very useful for me.

I was in the disability unit, which I needed. There is no curtain or glass divider between the shower and toilet. The water went EVERYWHERE including all over the toilet. Also, the tiles on the floor were VERY SLIPPERY. It needs a large non slip mat. Not good for someone like myself that is unsteady.

Really great and comfortable stay. The unit is spacious with separate living room / kitchenette, bedroom, and bathroom. Shower water pressure was perfect, ductless split unit regulated the temperature well. Lovely views of the lake. All the units seemed fully booked, but could not hear neighbors at all. Good location to many different attractions - less than ten min drive to Turangi with lots of eateries, 40min to Taupō with lots of activities, and 25min to the Ketani car park to start the Tongariro Alpine Crossing.

Lovely, quiet location on the lake. The accommodation was comfortable. Parking directly outside.WiFi was good. Good communication.and helpful staff.

4 main niggles: *Despite good communication the key box wouldn't open with the code provided. We had to contact them and wait for the housekeeper.. She also struggled to get it open. * The three large white serving dishes were all dirty * Very limited clothes hanging space on a wall hook. * The patio furniture was poor

Wonderful cottage right at the lake. Modern bathroom and comfortable beds. Well equipped kitchen. Big bonus is the provided BBQ. Next town with a big supermarket is only 8 minutes by car. There you find also a few restaurants (reservation is recommend). Restaurant right next to the cottage is closed at the moment, but that’s alright. Some people said it’s hard to find, but if you are ok driving a little off the main road, and you can read signs you will definitely find it 😉

Braxmere Lodge is located on the south shore of beautiful Lake Taupo, right the waters edge. It is an hours drive from Taupo, 10 minutes from nearest shops and restaurants in Turangi. So it a gorgeous and isolated setting. The unit was spacious and tidy and newly renovated. The king sized bed was very comfortable. There was a microwave, large fridge, and good range of basic tea and coffee making options. Look at the view from outside the lounge in our unit in the photograph below.

There used to be a restaurant at Braxmere Lodge, but it has been closed for some time, and there looks to be no prospect of it opening any time soon. So you need to bring some of your own supplies unless you want to drive from the Lodge for all meals. The access road off SH41 is at a difficult corner with limited visibility.

It was very easy to access the room and get unpacked. The view was great and the bed was very comfortable. Be aware that there are a few restaurants and a gas station about 10 minutes away but overall there is not too much close to this location. If you want to be 'off the grid', this is your location.

There was a strong odor from the bathroom within our room. I believe it was coming from the sink and it was very noticeable when you walk in the door. That would be my only criticism of the location.

The place is marvelous in front of the lake. This is very calm and peaceful. The Lodge is very well equipped, with a king bed. We had a very nice stay. This is not too far from the National Park Tangoriro.

To improve the property, I would recommend to brushing the long wooden chair outside since their us some moss, however the property provide beach towel.

The location was great with an amazing view of the lake and just what my wife and I needed on our honeymoon. It was great as a jumping off point to visit the surrounding areas like Lake Taupo itself and Tongariro National Park as we visited various Lord of the Rings filming locations surrounding and on the volcanoes. The room was clean and very spacious, with one of the largest bathrooms in our three week's staying all across New Zealand.

Don't leave the windows open or your room may get filled with blood sucking flies.
