Creel Lodge has a tranquil and welcoming atmosphere. The accommodation is only a short walk away from the Tongariro River and provides facilities for trout fishers. The accommodation is ideally situated for those wanting to explore the many outdoor attractions of the wider area. It is also within comfortable walking distance of the Tūrangi town centre, where food outlets, supermarkets, shops, and other services can be found. The buildings of Creel Lodge are set within a beautiful, well-established garden, surrounded by trees and birdsong. We were greeted by a friendly and helpful host, who told us about local Matariki events and very kindly allowed us a late checkout, which we'd requested in advance. Our cabin was spacious, comfortable, and quiet. A fresh floral arrangement from the garden was a lovely, welcoming touch. Everything required for a short or longer stay was supplied, including many 'extras'. In addition to the advertised amenities, the kitchen had a full-sized oven. There was also an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe and an electric blanket on the bed. The easy-to-use climate control kept the room at a comfortable temperature, and a small heater was also provided. The shower was great, and we slept very comfortably in the bed. This was the perfect stay to recharge our batteries. We highly recommend Creel Lodge and would return here anytime.

Location was great! Lovely surroundings and river walk. Staff friendly and helpful. We had everything we needed in our apartment and it was nice to be given fresh milk. It was a hot day when we arrived so we were pleased to have air con. Thermal pool walk was just a short drive away and we had a soak in a spa pool there afterwards for 20 mins. for a small fee (quite basic but relaxing; nice to be in "open air" spa pool) The golf course at Turangi is just a few minutes away and is great value.

I prefer a softer mattress. I would have liked a shower with a hose (not fixed head) However the shower was strong and hot.

Lovely wooded grounds with access to a large River and walking path on rear of property. Located in a small quiet town on a quiet street. We were able to walk around the area some and enjoyed the area. There is a small cafe located on the edge of the property - that served breakfast and lunch. Also, a few restaurants located close by. Would definitely choose to stay at this lodge again.

A/C unit is located in the living room, so the bedroom can miss out on all the cool air. An oscillating fan for the bedroom would be VERY helpful.

Our unit was very spacious and had a full-size refrigerator, oven, and all the basic kitchen implements, and a comfortable bed. The community bbq grills (propane) were kept very clean, and the laundry facilities came in handy for us. The grounds were well-maintained with lots of flowers everywhere, and there was convenient parking next to each unit. If we were fishermen, we surely would have also taken advantage of the onsite Tackle House.

It wasn’t an issue for us, but be aware there is only 1 washer & 1 dryer. The separate toilet room was quite small!

A lovely property in a quiet location, we'd not hesitate to stay here again. The units are very comfortable and well appointed (although the decor is a bit dated). The staff service was outstanding - we left a charger behind and they found it and called us within 5 minutes of our departure. It was easy to return to collect the charger and then get on our way again.

The heat pump in the unit we stayed in was very old and appeared to be on a timer - there was no remote for it.

We loved everything about the lodge, particularly how spacious it is, which was really lovely when we were travelling for a few weeks. It had everything we needed - the kitchen was actually far better than we had in all our other similar accommodation, which was really handy. We stayed here while doing the Tongariro crossing, and it would be a perfect location for others doing the same. Also a nice peaceful place to come back to after a long day outdoors! Would definitely recommend!

Stunning gardens and excellent facilities, eg. barbecues, laundry. Spacious rooms and lovely deck.

The unit and kitchen is clearly set up to be cooked in. We came intending to cater for ourselves for 5 nights. But it was more difficult than it should have been because the utensils etc are minimal and ineffective, eg. a peeler that barely peels, knives that are blunt, glass cutting boards that are awful to cut on, cheap frying pan that everything sticks to, and only half an old scourer to clean it with. The property would rate as excellent rather than good if the kitchen were addressed.

The lodge was great. The location has beautiful landscaping, we had a table and two chairs outside on the deck with trees and flowers nearby, birds and bees and butterflies all around, it was lovely. The room was spacious and clean, with a sitting area, kitchenette with table and chairs, a separate bedroom and large bathroom. This was the first time we encountered the lovely New Zealand custom of providing real milk for guests. As a tea drinker I really appreciate this gesture, tea tastes so much better with real mik instead of half and half or that artificial coffee whitener. We would encounter this many more times on our trip but this was the first, so really memorable. Parking was right next to the cabin, very convenient.

Our neighbours were a bit noisy, having their door open with the TV sound way up. That's not the lodge's fault, of course, and we decided not to complain but to enjoy the beautiful setting instead. That's pretty much all I can come up with, we would stay there again without hesitation.

This place is just perfect. Much better than phots. Spacious, smart, pristine, incredibly practical, great kitchen, comfy beds, super shower, good living room with Netflix TV etc. Excellent cafe on site and by the river including near a swim spot. Beautiful grounds. Just loved staying here. Magnificent motel, and outstanding value too. Highly highly recommend including for Tongariro crossing etc.

The lodge was beautiful and we instantly felt relaxed. It's set in beautiful grounds and a great location for the car park for Tongariro crossing. We don't fish but there were great facilities for fishing. Wish we would have stayed a lot longer the kitchen had everything you needed to cook meals as well as having outdoor BBQ areas.

The mattress was very soft, we prefer a firm mattress but understand that it's personal preference.
