Good location for what I was doing. The shower was superb. The restaurant and bar service was great, and the best pizza I have eaten in a long time. Thank you.

I requested an early check in as I had a client who wished to be on the track by 1400. I checked in soon after 1400 which was by good luck...thank you by the way. You couldn't have a room ready by 1300? Check in by 1500 is a bit late in the day if check out is 1000. Oh and the TV would not work despite the instructions in the room information. The instructions bore no resemblance to the remote. All good though, I uses the free Wifi on.my computer.

Very friendly staff, location great, clean. Facilities included a sauna, spa, games room and children area with toys. Beautiful views. We stayed at the end where they had a fully equipped kitchen for self cooking and plenty of utensils. They had equipment hire for snow activities in the basement which was great. There is a restaurant in the building that serves breakfast and dinner. Also a bar. Plenty of parking outside. We would come back here and recommend the place to others.

Not enough dining tables and chairs in the kitchen . The price for breakfast slightly to hight we thought. We had dinner there and chicken burgers were not cooked well. They did prepare us other burgers but it took a while, apologies for it. No discount given or free desert for mishap, would of been extra touch for long wait and uncooked food.

When booking this room, I must admit I was skeptical if the view would be as good as it was pictured. Well, the view was even better. This skotel was so quaint, beautiful, peaceful, and everything I needed. My only regret was that I didn't stay longer. When I first arrived, there was a massive cloud hanging so you couldn't quite see much. Due to the rainy weather, I decided to stay in for the evening. With it being so cold out, the owners had the fireplace roaring. I cuddled up on their living area couch next to the fireplace, book in hand. Their lounge room has has wraparound windows which added to the vibe. When the bar opened it was even better because then I was able to enjoy the space more with a local ale while reading. This is a fun ski themed lodge that feels as if you took a time machine back to the 1980s. The food at the restaurant was a great addition!

We had storms during our visit - did not get to enjoy the view from our cabin though there was still a bit of the mountain that was seen. Reception was closed when we got there but re opened beforr 3pm and check in was smooth and easy. The hotel is right next to Taranaki Falls Rack entry and other walking tracks which is handy for those who are going hiking. Cabin and facilities are dated but still cozy. We paid about $300 a night but I guess this was due to staying during Easter weekend. Beds weren't too bad. There were more than enough pillows, extra beddings, sheets, towels, hand towels. Our cabin had enough space for us 3. Heater and water pressure were adequate - we visited in autumn. There was a full size fridge, cook top, cooking utensils, forks, plates. Toaster, microwave, kettle. It was quiet at night. During the day, just lots of activities going with people leaving and arriving. Just like any other hotel / motels. Buffet breakfast was $27 for adult, kids are cheaper. It was acceptable. It is walking distance to the visitor centre and about 12 minute drive to the ski lifts. In summation, we had a pleasant stay. No issues at all. I would stay there again given the chance just cause of its proximity to the walking tracks and the view on better days.

I went there in summer and used it as the place to sleep before the Tama Lakes track. That was the perfect choice due to the location. They were flexible for my self check-in after their regular hours and they also let me take a shower after the check-out.

The place can get "noisy" at a times, since it has thin wood walls and you can hear everything that is happening in the other room. For the same reason, you can hear the cracks of the walls expanding and moving due to the temperature change. For those with issues to sleep can become a problem. I had interruptions, but could get enough rest for my purpose.

Large complex located within the Volcano Park - a GOOD thing since this park is a long drive from anywhere. We stayed in #221 with a Magical view of the volcano out our window and from our small patio. Lots of hot water in the shower. At night - the outside grounds are TOTALLY dark which makes for EXCELLENT star gazing.

No A/C in the room but we were able to borrow a box fan for the night. The rooms are a bit worn but super clean and comfy. The complex laundry was not fully functional so could be difficult accessing if others are also using. The building exterior is currently under renovation - but that did not affect our stay.

Simple but cute. The bed room was simple but has everything needed: comfortable mattress, mirror, shelves and a small sink. Towels provided. Room service available upon request. Restaurant serve good food. Bar also nice to hang out. Communal kitchen and bathrooms spacious and clean. Outside spa which I did not have the time to check out but sounds good! Dinner and breakfast available at the property. Staff were lovely. Nice views from the hotel and plenty of outside areas.

No shower utilities provided (shampoo, conditioner, soap). Breakfast was 27 dollars (with filtered coffee) and dinner with one drink was 40-60, but the food was good.

We had a fantastic stay at the Skotel Alpine Resort. The combined hotel/hostel may be a little tired in places, but that gives it a comfortable lived-in feeling. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The room was a little small, but good value for money for the area. The room was clean and tidy, well equipped and comfortable. We loved the facilities, particularly the bar offering good bar food and a good selection of drinks. Most of all, it is a good place to relax after a long day's walking. Location is PERFECT, with direct access to various Tongariro walks. We loved it!

The Hotel is ideally located for the Mountains. It was clearly very popular with walkers doing the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and the 'Round the Mountain Circuit. Self Catering facilities are good. Restaurant is good. Double bed was comfortable. Washbasin in the room. Staff very friendly. Great views from the Guest Lounge and Bar Balconies.

Shared Toilets and Bathroom down the corridor. Shared with a significant number of guests. 2 Toilets and 2 showers. Double bed was comfortable but not much space left. Only accessible from one side, difficult if there had been two people in the room.

Adored he location, perfect still warm weather and the views. Scorching toasty sun on my back from the bacbackers deck. Loved my little room tucked under the eaves and the little Rock retaining wall (am an architect these things affect me). The alpine trail alongside skotel stunning. That day I was up there with the Gods! Liked talking with other guests. In short I absolutely lucked out staying one night there and can t wait to return.

The building at the back was a bit unkempt. But with builders on site doing roof repairs that all looked positive ongoing. Dinner Menu not fab but I was on a no salt diet so was limited in choice. But best sticky date pudding ever!
