Super clean and warm and Dara was amazingly accommodating as was Scott. Incredibly grateful for a fabulous stay & wish I had more time to chill in the lovely studio. Gorgeous cat Stripes was the star of the show and a lovely homely touch to a fantastically located motel. Highly recommend staying here if you’re ever in Ohakune.

Very comfortable room, free hot tub which was amazing after the tongariro northern circuit. Motel is right in the middle of town close to restaurants. Room is very large, i was sble to spread my gear and dry my tent.

Some small things that were not entirely satisfactory: when i arrived there was no one in recrprion and the toom i was assigned to via email was a wrong room. It was wasily fixed once i called the owner, but not everybody has phone plans to call nz numbers. Also, there was no soap or shampoo in the shower. These are small things i thought i should mention, but the place overall is very good and i highly recommend

We have used this property on a number of occasions driving between Wellington and Auckland. We find it to be perfectly sited for our break and close to restaurants etc. it is always good value

On this occasion it was very cold outside with heavy frosts. We found the heating was not able to keep up with the cold. We should have requested a second heater. This is the only time we have had this issue.

A few things :) The place was located in the centre but off the busy street, so the room was silent at night which allowed me sleep so well. The hotel was very close to the walking trails, where I could enjoy nature walks. I could also walk to the Mountain Rocks Cafe which opens early in the morning and serves excellent breakfast! The owners were hospitable, nice, friendly and welcoming. When I needed to check out later than usual, the owners were so kind to let me stay a bit longer and make me feel at home. I look forward to going back to Ohakune! What a nice place.

It may be good to have a local phone to communicate with the owners when checking in.

Dara was great, communication was excellent and the location was perfect, with everything you need within walking distance. Most of the beds were comfy. Kitchen was well appointed. Spare blankets in the cupboard came in handy as it turned chilly in the morning. Very easy to find the motel on arrival.

The stairs were very steep and narrow with narrow treads (definitely not suitable for kids). My husband wasn't comfortable climbing them so he slept downstairs. The double bed was a bit shorter than a normal bed - I had to sleep diagonally so my ankles and feet didn't hang over the end. The toilet window wasn't able to be opened due to plants outside (a bit inconvenient). The back door was all glass, and the lights from New World over the back fence were so bright that it was like a light was on all night in the living room. The bunk bed my son slept on was probably best suited to kids rather than adults (he's 19) as the mattress was quite thin (the single and double beds were very comfy though). A few cobwebs in the bathroom but could be easily sorted.

Cutest wee cabin ever. Comfortable beds and warm blankets. Kitchen was well stocked with all utensils etc needed. Close to town. Wonderful communication from owners. Loved the friendly cat that liked to pop in for a visit!

Maybe would’ve been nice to have a fan in the bedrooms just to get some air flow but once it cooled down in the evenings, with the windows open it was ok.

It was the most beautiful place to stay and we loved everthing second of it we had a visit from a friendly cat who was so lovely and we really appreciate the visit from the cat as we were missing our dog 🐕 back home thank you for a lovely great stay in your stunning country we will definitely recommend and come back again some day 😊

Very good location to stay for parkrun Mangawhero river walk Saturday morning 8am

The room was cold and took a while to heat up. Would be better if staff heated room on cold days before guests arrive

Conveniently located, very clean, classic style of motel, friendly and efficient check in - check out process. Good parking directly in front of the unit and a shower with very good pressure. Close to town shops and eateries.

No air conditioning, but it wasn’t an issue as it wasn’t too hot, and in winter it has a heater to keep things cozy

The beds were not the best. Toilet had a clean seal on it but it had dried poop at the back of the toilet from the previous guests in the bowl. Was not very nice. No staff onsite so just a key in a lock box. If a staff member was on site we probably would have complained about the state of the toilet.
