Handy location, clean and spacious rooms, comfortable bed.

Crazy unit numbering setup, confusing and time consuming searching for your room, not helped if it’s raining, not all of the walk ways are under cover. Kitchenettes without a cook top, only a microwave. No AC for either cooling or heating. There are currently some external maintenance issues with balconies and safety railings, while these are roped off with flimsy netting, it looks as if there is no urgency for repairs. Provide your own soap products for the shower, you can’t get anything out of the ones provided even though they are full,the pumps have completed their useful life.

As always it ticks all the boxes for us that is why we always come back. Staff are always polite and helpful. The late booking in and out system work well too. The rooms we stay in are very comfortable and well presenred always. Your prices are very affordable for the normal everyday person. Best choice to stay at of all motels in Whakatane and i will continue to give my custom and to anyone else that asks my recommendations for great accommodation in Whk.

All the hazard netting everywhere. Maintanence needs to be done and the place kept updated to get the custom. I have been frequenting this motel for 15 yrs at least. Its sad to see the rooms so empty the last couple of visits. I hope this business is doing well. Sad to see if not. This was always a very busy lively place. I wish this motel all the best for the future.

We stayed in the 2 room Apartment. It was so spacious! My mother and I loved the place. Kitchen was so well equipped, with a huge pantry and proper sized fridge/freezer. Lots of appliances and utensils so we could cook our own meals and save money by not eating out every meal. Beds were comfy! Clean linen, heaps of towels so washing up makeup and showering etc was not a problem. The first place I can ever remember staying where there was more than enough towels/hand towels/facecloths for us. Made a big difference! Staff were wonderfully friendly over the course of our stay. We felt welcomed warmly upon arrival, and farewelled kindly as we checked out.

The only thing that was a slight was that we were unsure about room servicing, and had there been a door handle hanger saying "no service today please", we would've hung it out. We didn't see an option or even know how often the rooms would be serviced. Not a huge deal, but we would've preferred not to have staff enter the room while our property was in there and we weren't. We could see milk restocked in the fridge and rubbish bin emptied as we came back to our room during the course of the second day, and whilst it was appreciated, we would've preferred an option to say "not today, thank you". This would not stop us recommending the place or staying there again in the future!

I booked the micro-cabin and deluxe studio and both rooms were very spacious and didn't feel cramped up including the bathrooms. Everything was spaced out nicely and easy to move around in and were well equipped. Both rooms were always clean and refreshed when we returned from our outings. Staff were very friendly, helpful and accomodating. What both my partner and I were impressed with was seeing how this was possibly Iwi or whanau operated. We loved seeing our 'own' (Māori people) doing the mahi and making Te Awa look fab. Also love how the Café was right there for us to dine at, the food there was also delicious.

Having allocated parking for the deluxe studios. We were luck we had booked a micro-cabin as well with allocated parking which solved this problem but if we hadn't we would have possibly been left to park on the road and with my mum struggling to walk this would have been an issue.

Good cosy little standalone unit close to township of Whakatane which was great! Awesome shower and bathroom facilities, nice and clean and so close to the ocean. Personal car park and even had a lemon tree and deck area for us to chill. Also, loved the bed too. Aircon worked really well, loved how fast it cooled the room. TV had good channels to watch, linked to SKY. The site has one of the best Cafe's in Whakatane attached to it, serving great Coffee's and meals.

I wish the floor was carpeted, would have made the unit cosier to be honest. The design of the units are in such a way that every side of the units are exposed to people coming and going due to its Wrap Around walkway, nothing you can do about it, but it was hard to even sit on the deck area without people from the other unit walking a couple metres past you. Did not know about the BBQ area until it was too late as unit kitchens have no cooking facilities which is a shame. Had to bring to outside table and chairs inside to enjoy a private meal inside, was unsure what the plastic highchairs were for inside?

The Unit was superb, open plan kitchen, dining and lounge. Bedroom bigger than normal with loads of storage space in closet. Kitchen was very clean with a good size fridge. Bathroom well equipped and good size shower. Even had a washing machine available along with laundry liquid, little things that make a difference. Nice sheltered outdoor area to the side. Cafe on site was very busy, which is always a good sign. Whakatane Fishing Club across the road which have superb meals. Take the drive to the end of The Strand where there is an awesome playground, and watch the boats tackle the Whakatane Bar.

No negative comments. Would stay again.

The staff were great. I spoke to them over the phone to begin with as part of the booking process and they were very helpful and cheerful. This continued once we were there, both with the motel staff and the attached cafe staff. Having the attached cafe is also great because you can get your morning coffee there and breakfast if you wish. The location was very good as we could walk to town, cross the road to the waterfront, walk to the river bar crossing etc. It was amazing listening to the bird life in the bush on the hill behind the motel.

Great location with an excellent cafe forming part of the motel. The room was large with a comfortable bed, seating, kitchenette, plus dining table and chairs. Plenty of room and warm, despite the chilly nights. The staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful. We had a very pleasant short stay.

Not a complaint or a dislike, more an observation. The room may benefit from a refresh, looking a little worn. The microwave was a bit old but perfectly functional. It's a shame there is no outdoor space for the rooms on the first floor. The front balcony had temporary safety fencing along it, and the rear door led to an alternative access way.

It was nice and central to Whakatane township, and the Motel was clean and tidy, and our room was very spacious. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The cafe on site was very nice. We enjoyed a yummy cooked breakfast there. 1950's Restaurant, where we had dinner, was within walking distance, which was handy.

The fridge in our room made a bit of a noise, and as I am a light sleeper, I ended up having to turn it off. But everything else was just right.

It’s a great location, close to the Main Street, I walked to dinner and walked to have a facial. The room was spacious and clean and tidy.

My room didn’t have air con, which was ok for this time of the year. I used the heater a little one evening. In summer it might be hot though. The amount of wifi for free was tiny, however, if they made the limit 1 gig a day I could have watched a movie on my personal Netflix on my phone in the evening. They do have a tv in the room and sky. If I was working I would have needed more wifi. Unlimited would be ideal.
