Excellent location at the waterside, right in the city center. After navigating the narrow streets to the hotel (which is well signposted), the area opens up to a large promenade and parking area with the hotel at its center. It feels very modern and new, with wide open spaces and ample natural light. Checking in was a breeze, and hotel staff was very helpful in making sure I was parked correctly (motorcycles can park for free, but only in the designated motorcycle area). For late arrivals, the restaurant will be an easy option to still find dinner. While I did not make use of it, breakfast the next morning was excellent, so it seems the hotel has great chefs. My single-person room was small but efficient, with all the right amenities and a more than adequately sized bathroom. Like the rest of the hotel, the room and bathroom were clean and modern, and I had a great nights' rest here. This is a great option for overnight stays while traveling, but would also do very well as a base to explore the beautiful surrounding area.

Somewhat to my surprise, sound isolation in my room was not the best, and I could hear people in the hallways outside. While my room opened up to a small terrace, this same terrace was also used by the hotel bar / restaurant, and so if people would be sitting outside, they are essentially sitting right outside your room; not ideal in terms of privacy. Lastly, it would have been nice to have a tea kettle or coffee maker in the room so one can have a cup of tea without going to the hotel bar.

Mandal Hotel offers a comfortable and modern stay, but what really stands out is the breakfast – one of the best I’ve had at any hotel. A wide selection, fresh ingredients, and something for every taste. It really sets the tone for the day. Highly recommended if you value a quality morning meal!

Wonderful location in Mandal. Staff were pleasant and helpful with great customer service. A very comfortable room with fabulous views over the waterfront. Quiet and peaceful. Great breakfast and good Pizza restaurant attached to hotel -Syd's. Would definitely recommend a stay here. Only 40 mins drive from Kristiansand. A great place from which to explore the local area.

Excellent location and very friendly staff. The room was spacious with modern design. Big windows allow to enjoy the view outside. The bathroom was spotless, which is a big positive!

The breakfast is the only thing I could suggest to be improved. There are two things I could note: 1) Same dishes served both days. 2) At one point there was no cutlery and no glasses available, so several guests had to wait few minutes before the staff brought more. One minor point: You need to add the parking cost to your budget.

Wonderful hotel with stunning views. Amazing staff will help you with what you need. The restaurant offers a delicious traditional seafood soup (without garlic!!). Only thing missing is a gym in the hotel. Bit of a hassle going to a off-premises gym.

The location is perfect and breakfast is splendid. We had the Suite 601 and it is a wonderful view to the river.

I was would mention two issues regarding this suite; the excess water from the bathtub came out one the floor and everything was wet. There is a wonderful roof terrace, but was closed

I like that Mandal finally has another HOTEL since I last visited! It was long overdue. Everyone was helpful, the food was great at breakfast and for dinner on another night. The location and access to the city was wonderful.

GPS took us down back streets which were gated. Oh, well we finally figured it out. The pay to park situation was a bit confusing and could've been explained more at check-in.

We had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant. the quality and how well the food was prepared was impeccable.We chose lamb carrè. The staff was friendly and well knowledgeable about wine paring. The restaurant deserves to be known by all who visit Mandal, not only hotel guests. 10/10 🙌🏻 recommending it!

EV chargers do not belong to hotel (if you are not from Norway odds are your charging cards wont work at the charger, I tried four different ones without luck); hotel doesn’t have any proprietary parking; only public paid parking lot next to it.

Rebecca! She is a jewel. She helped with everything and we appreciated her smile and welcoming way very much! Breakfast was very good, even enough supplies for food allergicans. Comfortable beds!

Room was tiny! Sparse with towels, we did not even have a bath matt, so we needed to use our own towels for the floor.
