The free breakfast was outstanding--great selection and service! We also ate at the restaurant for supper and the meal was amazing! The room was nice--felt a bit older style, but I like the nostalgic feel. I was grateful for the free parking! The location is ideal! I had to visit a national office and it was only about 3 blocks from the hotel. There's nearby shopping, a plus. Also, we had a very good night's sleep...the beds were comfortable, the AC took a short while to cool, but ultimately was perfect, there was little to no noise. The staff is amazing--so kind and helpful! Would definitely stay here again.

Room could have had a little better lighting.

The Staff were welcoming and friendly, willing to give advice when asked, it does help if you can speak Spanish. The bedroom was large, it was clean, and the bed, I wanted to bring home! Three Restaurants (including the Pizzeria) excellent choice of menu, well presented and well cooked. Great facilities, the swimming pool is kept clean, good quality poolside furniture, just beware if you have small children, the pool goes deep fast from halfway. My wife tells me that the gymnasium has good Basic equipment, but all that you need. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone, and look forward to our next visit.

I think we arrived before the painting season had started, but as it was clean, I'm not classing that as a criticism in any way.

Nice old hotel in David. The pool is great; that is pretty much why we stay at this hotel whenever we are in David. It is good sized, clean and never very busy. The gardens around the pool are lovely, too. Breakfast is included and with several options. Will always recommend Gran Hotel Nacional to friends visiting David.

Breakfast should have some plant based milk for non dairy people. The price is high; not sure why it costs close to $100.00 per night in David.

We were unprepared for the great experience provided here. Staff, be it reception, valet, pool bartender, shuttle driver, or wait staff in their restaurants, were professional and pleasant. The room was lovely, bathroom fully stocked with amenities, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. The facilities included a clean, nicely landscape pool; a breakfast area with classical music playing (and no TV), and beautiful and interesting artwork on display throughout the lobby. Also, a bottlecap mural on the outside wall demonstrated ownership's efforts to improve the environment. It was a walkable distance from the main bus station and provided a complimentary shuttle to the airport. A perfect end to our two week stay in Panama.

The hair dryer and personal safe did not work (or at least we could not figure out how to make them work). I suspect if we had asked they would both have been either explained to us or immediately repaired/replaced. However, we did not need them for a one night stay so did not seek assistance.

Pool, restaurants in-house, garden area, staff most of all! Most staff went over and above in helpfulness and kindness.

Lamp needed at desk in our room. Handheld shower was damaged and leaking, no makeup mirror in bathroom. Unfortunately, the quality of the food in the restaurants was not even average, with the barbecue area being the worst, with undercooked ribs. Many options on the menu in both restaurants were unavailable.

What a grand place to stay! From the pool, gym, outside garden bar to the beautiful buffet breakfast and lunch, this is a great place to stay. Throughout the hotel there are fabulous photos of famous people I loved it! Eg Marilyn Monroe. The staff are all very friendly and just waiting to help. The hotel’s biggest asset is a young man, Jose who speaks perfect English. Within walking distance of the Central Park, shopping centres and churches. I highly recommend the Gran Hotel Nacional.

The hotel itself is rather old (at least the part we were staying in) but well-kept. Our room was large, with two beds. We didn't miss anything. The staff was friendly and ready to help. It was great you can get towles for the pool - whitch by the way is pretty large.

The breakfast wasn't really breathtaking, but basic and ok. There was a lot of noise by other guest, from the pool and the corridor, but also the walls do not seem to be very sound-insulated.

Ample breakfast, with variety of offerings. We had to change room due to noise from nearby club, with no problem. The next stay (a few days later) the hotel made sure we were away from such problems, with a room overlooking the courtyard and pool

Apart from the noise from a nearby club (which wasn't loud, just irritating), I did not find anything I really didn't like. It helps the hotel, opened in 1945, has style and character you only find in older hotels

It was a classic hotel from the early twentieth century. Reasonably kept up.

Location as far as walking to shopping and restaurants. Restaurant menu was benign. Not much for selections for beverages.

We have stayed many times!! Staff is very friendly & helpful, especially the front desk!! Very large pool which is well maintained. Nice garden area around pool. Restaurants have great food at reasonable prices, and staff is professional and accommodating!! Great breakfast buffet. As it turned out, we happened to stay for Panama "Mother's Day". Dec 8th is a national holiday; most businesses are closed. They had a special lunch buffet which was excellent!! It even included a glass of sparkling wine and red rose for the Mothers!! Good location & free shuttle to/from airport.
