The breakfasts were always delicious. The proximity to all the restaurants and activities was fantastic. The pool was the perfect place to kill time when there was a typhoon. The spa was a better value than the local massage parlors. The architecture and decorations were chic and modern. But most importantly the staff, specifically Val, were so accommodating, warm, and friendly. I would book this hotel again simply because Val and her team made an already amazing property an unforgettable experience! @yourpinoyoppa

The only thing that was an issue was the headboard lights that would not turn off along and the wait for towels.

I have a lot of positive comments I like to share about the property. First impression very friendly staff especially Val and also Kem. Lavatory facilities excellent! You need it in the Philippines. Choose the Top Floor for sea views. There’s no lift (elevator) but I didn’t mind the steps. The massage was blisss with Clarisse. Breakfast was great. I like the savory dishes everyday (we stayed for 4 nights) aside from usual bacon and eggs, etc. and the coffee is superb! Great location just a step away from the beach where the tours (a must) depart to see the islands. Within walking distance to restaurants.

I could have given this property a 10 however we noticed that there were foot marks on the glass balcony railing and it was still there the following day until the rest of our stay. It wasn’t followed up at reception. Also our room was not refreshed when we came back from an all day tour. We rang reception and it’s not followed up when we came back from dinner. Also on the left side of the property when you go up to your room you can see a lot of trash it’s not a pleasant sight.

We had the most amazing stay at The Funny Lion. The location is perfect-walking distance to find food and into town. The rooms were spacious and clean. The private beach is a must visit. We absolutely loved the restaurant on site with some of the yummiest meals we’ve had in Asia. Lastly, the staff were AMAZING! Incredibly kind, helpful and attentive. 5 stars overall and we look forward to coming back again! Thank you so much for having us.

Wifi/Phone Reception was patchy but we experienced this on the whole island.

Staff are so nice and taking good care of the customers. Not to mention their smile, always. CJAY helped us a lot during our stay from the beginning till the end.

We spent a day at the “private beach” which is not very “private”. There were more than 10 boats from other hosts visiting the “private island” all day long. For the picnic, we expected it’s something similar to what they show us on the platform. However, there is no set-up at all and it’s basically a lunch box. They even gave it to us right after we arrived at the busy island like 11:30am while that supposed to be our lunch. Quite disappointed for this to be honest…

Incredible stay at the Funny Lion! From start to finish we was made to feel very welcome. The staff are a credit to this place, every single staff member was professional, polite and very helpful nothing was too much effort. The rooms are nice and modern. Beds are huge and very comfy pillows, we slept well every night. There are little touches/gifts in them room which made our stay extra special. The pool is stunning and never that busy, plenty of sun loungers/beanbags round the pool which is a bonus. Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we’ve had in the Philippines so far it caters for everyone. We also ate lunch in the restaurant and the food was delicious/lots of options (plus the food arrived quickly). We would 100% stay at the Funny Lion again and recommend this place to anyone! Thank you for a great stay.

Our room was next to the main road and was quite noisy at night however the hotel do supply earplugs already in the room so this wasn’t much of an issue for us.

My welcome was personal, they knew my name and continued to use it whenever they saw me. My room was big, the bed was so comfortable and perfect, not soft but not too firm. The mini fridge with complimentary drinks, there were bandanas and a tote bag as gifts too. All these details showed they went a little extra for their guests. On check out you got a woven bracelet and a box with banana bread in. The breakfast had a good selection of choices It's an easy walk to the waterfront and shops, but far enough away to be quiet. They were able to organise trips for you and had a free van and boat transfer to a private beach. .

Breakfast was open at 6 but the egg station was not there until later. I only got eggs one day, ( I'm an early breakfast kind of person) Some days there were no towels at the pool when it opened. You can just go and ask for one though. Two minor niggles, but with everything else on point, it would be good to see these consistent too.

Nice facilities and very friendly stuff. The rooms are brand new and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was very nice and had many options.

The rooms in the building located on the side of the street are noisy. You can hear the traffic from the street. There were some ants in the room but not a big problem.

The staff are incredibly attentive and certainly go above and beyond! Every time you enter or exit the hotel, all the staff know you by name and are so welcoming. Nilo, the hotel’s manager, personally took us on a run around Lio Beach with some of the team. Val and Cjay were standing-out staff for us and catered for our every need. The hotel is ideally located a short walk away from the centre of El Nido - close enough for a 5 minute walk but far enough to be away from the noise in the evening. The hotel is superbly maintained and the rooms are spacious and modern. There is also a decent gym over the road as a part of the hotel that had everything we needed. We couldn’t have asked for anything more!

Fabulous hotel. The friendliest service I have had at any hotel anywhere on earth. The building and rooms are also beautiful, they really look like the photos! The pool is lovely and backs on the jungle on the hillside. Breakfast is also excellent with fresh made-to-order eggs and coffee. The private beach (next to Seven Commandos beach, with similar views) is lovely, very quiet. Boats leave to the beach at 9am and 11am, and return at 2pm and 4pm. Easy walk to shops/restaurants in the town, but also feels quiet and secluded. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at, you should stay there too!
