The breakfasts were always delicious. The proximity to all the restaurants and activities was fantastic. The pool was the perfect place to kill time when there was a typhoon. The spa was a better value than the local massage parlors. The architecture and decorations were chic and modern. But most importantly the staff, specifically Val, were so accommodating, warm, and friendly. I would book this hotel again simply because Val and her team made an already amazing property an unforgettable experience! @yourpinoyoppa

The only thing that was an issue was the headboard lights that would not turn off along and the wait for towels.

I have a lot of positive comments I like to share about the property. First impression very friendly staff especially Val and also Kem. Lavatory facilities excellent! You need it in the Philippines. Choose the Top Floor for sea views. There’s no lift (elevator) but I didn’t mind the steps. The massage was blisss with Clarisse. Breakfast was great. I like the savory dishes everyday (we stayed for 4 nights) aside from usual bacon and eggs, etc. and the coffee is superb! Great location just a step away from the beach where the tours (a must) depart to see the islands. Within walking distance to restaurants.

I could have given this property a 10 however we noticed that there were foot marks on the glass balcony railing and it was still there the following day until the rest of our stay. It wasn’t followed up at reception. Also our room was not refreshed when we came back from an all day tour. We rang reception and it’s not followed up when we came back from dinner. Also on the left side of the property when you go up to your room you can see a lot of trash it’s not a pleasant sight.

We had the most amazing stay at The Funny Lion. The location is perfect-walking distance to find food and into town. The rooms were spacious and clean. The private beach is a must visit. We absolutely loved the restaurant on site with some of the yummiest meals we’ve had in Asia. Lastly, the staff were AMAZING! Incredibly kind, helpful and attentive. 5 stars overall and we look forward to coming back again! Thank you so much for having us.

Incredible stay at the Funny Lion! From start to finish we was made to feel very welcome. The staff are a credit to this place, every single staff member was professional, polite and very helpful nothing was too much effort. The rooms are nice and modern. Beds are huge and very comfy pillows, we slept well every night. There are little touches/gifts in them room which made our stay extra special. The pool is stunning and never that busy, plenty of sun loungers/beanbags round the pool which is a bonus. Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we’ve had in the Philippines so far it caters for everyone. We also ate lunch in the restaurant and the food was delicious/lots of options (plus the food arrived quickly). We would 100% stay at the Funny Lion again and recommend this place to anyone! Thank you for a great stay.

Our room was next to the main road and was quite noisy at night however the hotel do supply earplugs already in the room so this wasn’t much of an issue for us.

Nice facilities and very friendly stuff. The rooms are brand new and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was very nice and had many options.

The rooms in the building located on the side of the street are noisy. You can hear the traffic from the street. There were some ants in the room but not a big problem.

Fabulous hotel. The friendliest service I have had at any hotel anywhere on earth. The building and rooms are also beautiful, they really look like the photos! The pool is lovely and backs on the jungle on the hillside. Breakfast is also excellent with fresh made-to-order eggs and coffee. The private beach (next to Seven Commandos beach, with similar views) is lovely, very quiet. Boats leave to the beach at 9am and 11am, and return at 2pm and 4pm. Easy walk to shops/restaurants in the town, but also feels quiet and secluded. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at, you should stay there too!

The staff are incredibly attentive and certainly go above and beyond! Every time you enter or exit the hotel, all the staff know you by name and are so welcoming. Nilo, the hotel’s manager, personally took us on a run around Lio Beach with some of the team. Val and Cjay were standing-out staff for us and catered for our every need. The hotel is ideally located a short walk away from the centre of El Nido - close enough for a 5 minute walk but far enough to be away from the noise in the evening. The hotel is superbly maintained and the rooms are spacious and modern. There is also a decent gym over the road as a part of the hotel that had everything we needed. We couldn’t have asked for anything more!

Greetings from Rodica&Cosmin: We read the very good reviews about the hotel and decided to choose this hotel for our stay in El Nido for 9 days, including the Christmas and New Year's Eve . I was very curious if they were true, and now I can confirm: -From the moment you step into the hotel you feel like you are in a family, all the staff are very dedicated and attentive to make the guests feel good. I would like to especially appreciate the team from the Front Office who always took care of our requests very promptly: booking trips, taxi, recommendations (Hi Val!) - The kitchen is extraordinary, a combination of traditional Filipino dishes with European dishes, all cooked with great taste, perfectly. I would like to personally send greetings to the Chef for the extraordinary New Year's Eve dinner. Also, you should not miss the event every Friday: barbecue dinner. Order with confidence the food from the hotel restaurant and from the bar, very tasty, a very good price-quality ratio, compared to what is found in El Nido (Hi Marvin, brother) - The room is nicely decorated, I received from the hotel natural juices and fresh fruits. Very comfortable bed, every day you wake up with a view of the pool. - Another plus is the location of the hotel, in the newest area of ​​El Nido, very close to the area with restaurants and bars, but without being affected by their noise. -I would like to note the organization of the New Year's Eve event, the dinner was extraordinary, we had a fireworks display from the roof of the hotel, where there is a view over the whole of El Nido. - Many thanks to the hotel manager, Mr. Nilo, for taking care every day that we feel very good and for socializing. - I would say in the end that staying at Funny Lion in El Nido is not just a simple stay but an entire experience that we enjoyed for 9 days.

And as a tip for future guests, try to book the hotel well in advance, due to the very high demand.

The staff was super friendly, attentive and accomodating, specially Val at front desk. Hotel arranged airport pick up (for a minimal reasonable fee)brought us straight to the hotel steps with welcome drinks and smiling faces. Check-in wasnt till 2pm and we arrived 8am. We were provided with a complimentary day trip to Papaya Beach for a day of fun and relaxation. Luggage storage while waiting for available room was provided. The rooms were spacious with a balcony overlooking the hotel pool. A short walk to the beach and a variety of restaurants made everyhing convenient. The happy hour cocktail drinks and the food were all tasty and reasonably priced. I would love to return to El Nido and the Funny Lion hotel.
