January 2025

The property was in close proximity to Jones Bridge and China Town. It was an easy 20 minute walk to Intramuros. There was a small supermarket next door which was handy. The room was definitely showing signs of aging, but was otherwise comfortable and suitable for a short stay

My bathroom had long hair in the shower from the previous guest. The rooms facing the street are LOUD! The jeepneys are noisy and the soundproofing is not great. I downloaded a sleep app with rain noise but even at a high volume, could still hear the traffic at all hours of the night. My parents had a room on the opposite side and it was lovely and quiet. Many homeless in the area who asked for money when you walked by which was confronting for someone not used to that, but I understand that this is not something within the control of the hotel. In saying this, as a group of 3 people, we did not feel unsafe walking in the area at night

- Modern hotel with clean and cosy rooms - Very comfortable beds - Very friendly and helpful staff - Free water refill - Great internet - Security

- It can get quite noisy due to passing Jeepneys on the nearby road. - The air feels stuffy throughout the property, except at the reception area. They have a weird policy of keeping windows locked and only opening them for ventilation about once a month ?!?!? - In the rooms, the windows are also kept locked—I had to sign a form just to be allowed to open mine whenever I wanted. They claim its due to security reasons – I am on a holiday, not to jump out of windows….

It's a good hotel for those looking for a simple, clean room and a private shower. It's not luxurious by any means but it has all the necessary amenities (like an air con) plus a mini fridge and a TV. I stayed on two different floors on two occasions during my holidays facing different directions and both didn't have any nice views. Staying on a higher floor makes it less noisy as the street in front has a lot of jeepneys passing by. It's walking distance to Intramuros and it is well located if your goal is to explore central Manila with all the history and culture. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would stay there again.

It’s close to ongpin street chinatown, where you can buy food for breakfast etc. The hotel has a doorman who greets and opens the door, which I did not expect at this price point. Check in was simple enough and a water filter was available in the lobby. The room itself is clean, it comes with some towels but things like slippers or mini bar are not included, you can purchase this in the lobby. Our room had a view over some other buildings, and a tv. Although there were not many English/western channels. Not a big problem though. A map was provided with locations of sightseeing in the area. We enjoyed our short stay during our layover in Manila. Two keys were provided, so we could leave the AC on during the day which was a plus. A 7-11 was next to the hotel.

I did not realise binondo is the old centre of Manila. So when you walk out onto the street, it’s a bit chaotic. For example to get to ongpin street, just around the corner, you have to cross the road quite a few times at intersections with no stop lights or crossings - and just hope for the best. Maybe next time I would stay in makati instead, but I can say this area has a lot of character. For example on the map, it does not seem like the LRT is far, but the walk is through busy streets and there is not always a footpath. We used Grab a lot due to this as we did not want to walk around the area at night, it is poorly lit and hard to navigate in the dark. Before we could check out, they had to send somebody to check the room, which ended up being fine, but just be aware of this.

The hotel is conveniently located near the city's main tourist attractions, making it easy to explore. The shower was nice. Having a 7-Eleven downstairs was also convenient for quick snacks and essentials.

The check in took about half an hour, I was tired and just wanted to get to my bed but I don’t know what were they doing in their system that was taking them so long to check me in, I saw that it happened with other guests as well. I also didn’t like that you have to wait until they check the room is okay during the check out, I had to go to the airport.

First, the convenience store on the first floor of the building was very handy. Second, Ongpin Street in Chinatown is within walking distance, and the location overall is good if not great. since it’s close to many tourist destinations around the Manila area. The staff were also approachable and friendly.

The bathroom drainage wasn’t good. The water from the shower stays on the floor near the toilet and doesn’t flow properly to the drain because the floor is uneven.

Red Planet Binondo is very near Binondo Church and Divisoria. They have ample parking space, which can be a little bit challenging. Chinatown is also very near. Sta. Cruz Church can also be reached at a short distance by walking. Delicious Restaurant is still highly recommended, as it is near Sta. Cruz Church. Intramuros is reachable by car or by jeepney commuting. The room I originally booked was a queen-sized bedroom, but the staff recommended twin beds that were put together so we could fit into the bed as we were a family of four. The air conditioning is good and can cool the entire room. There is a refrigerator with no freezer. There is a kettle for boiling water. There is also a hair dryer. There were no cabinets, but still, clothes could be hung as there were hangers available. No toothpaste, toothbrushes, or slippers were provided, but we brought with us these amenities. The shower did not run out of water during our stay, and since it was hot weather, we always took showers after walking outside and buying stuff.

There is an intermittent Wi-Fi connection, and I think there is a limit on the number of users who can connect. The swipe card should be brought when going out since it is programmed to the floor you are staying on. You have to ask the staff to press for your floor at the elevator in case you forget your swipe card. If you forgot to bring any bottled water, they have available water dispensers on the 4th floor, which is their lobby area.

very polite staff, clean and comfortable. There is a Catholic Church nearby only five minutes walk. And the results of Jollibee restaurant very close. I appreciate you very much that the hotel canceled my second stay without a fee. I canceled because I met new friends in Manila. that invited me to stay with him. They help me to fix my Internet, which was not working at first. Nice lobby on the fourth floor. Polite guard on the first floor will help me to load my luggage into the taxi.

It’s a little scary to walk around the hotel. The store in the same building with the hotel did not take cards. There were children begging for money right outside the hotel and the street outside the hotel is not clean.

1. The Red Planet App is a very modern and helpful tool. Used it fairly often and the staff were quite responsive. 2. Polite and helpful staff. 3. Comfortable bed and enough space for two people. 4. The water machine (which uses reverse osmosis, I think) in the lobby was very convenient and free to use. Gives you nice chilled water (hot water option there too) for a sunny day out. 5. Convenient location near great restaurants in Binondo and other sites on foot or by Grab. 6. Known location for food delivery services and drop off/pick up using Grab (and I suspect other services too), so it is quite easy. 7. Housekeeping is generally good. 8. There is a 24hr 7 Eleven below, in case you want to get anything last minute or just because. 9. Good security; if you need to have visitors, they give you clear instructions and check IDs. I also forgot to lock up my 2nd mobile in the safe once, while in a hurry. I made them aware and everything was fine. 10. Good English options on TV, if you decide to have a quiet day in. 11. Felt more welcoming than a certain 4-star hotel I stayed at on Boracay.

1. The bathroom, though generally functional, is a little dated. The shower, however, leaked, always leaving water outside (though there is a drain there too). 2. Sometimes, the housekeeping missed the mark (e.g. not checking if mugs have been used). 3. TV and remotes could take some investment. The combination didn't work consistently. 4. Taxi arranged through the hotel is a bit expensive compared to if you were to get a Grab cab. I only did it upon arrival because I wasn't yet sure how things were on the ground as a first-time visitor. But, now that I am familiar, I wouldn't use that service again.

I love Red Planet because of it’s very reasonable price of their accommodation, very clean rooms, proximity to Tutuban Shopping Mall as only 10 minutes walk, the Binondo Church, so many nice restaurants nearby, close to Ongpin Chinatown and LRT. There’s also a Seven Eleven on the ground which makes it easy if you need anything quick. Also a special mention to Jessie one of the room attendants who was always very friendly, helpful, attentive and making sure our room was comfortable and always asked if we were having a nice day and if there’s anything else we needed. Thank you so much Jessie! You’re a gem!

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the property as everything was to our satisfaction
