I loved that this was an old-fashioned authentic European hotel. They still have real keys for the door. It was clean, centrally located to the old town and a wonderful bargain with very courteous staff.

The only recommendation I would make is for the owner to replace with soundproof windows. I know that may compromise the beauty of those old-fashioned windows that crank open to the outside, but there were motorcycles that rode up and down the street at night that kept me awake. I imagine it is very expensive to do this. Luckily they didn’t go on all night.

The old but so new at the same time (zero scratches) furniture made the room look cozy and beautiful. I really enjoyed it. Same with the decoration in the hotel alleys. The location is 100% perfect in the center of Torun and there are nice restaurants and jazz bars within 5min walking distance or less.

The staff could be friendlier. They were polite and professional. But they should use the words "Welcome", "Goodbye", and "Hopefully see you again" more. Otherwise, they were excellent. Maybe it is my misunderstanding of Polish philoxenia. I would surely pick Hotel Retman for any future visit in Torun. Thank you!

Very clean, comfortable, spacious and beautifully furnished room. There was a street view from the window. The room was equipped with an electric kettle, instant coffee and two bottles of water. There was a daily housekeeping (you can ask for more coffee for example). Good location next to Vistula River and Old Town.

Breakfast: If you are vegan, be informed that there is no soy milk or other plant-based products, mainly bread, fruit, marmalade, coffee, tea and juice.

The location was perfect for us, right in the heart of the old town. Buffet Breakfast was very good with a wide choice of hot and cold food.

There is no lift, and the stairs are very steep. Our allocated room was on the third floor. We were offered an alternative on the second floor, but the room was not suitable for us. Staff carried our cases down at the end of our stay. We were glad that we didn't have a car because apart from a drop-off, the hotel has no parking of its own.

This hotel is excellent value for money. The staff were lovely and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable with a kettle and fridge, which is very handy. The breakfast was delicious and the location is very central.

There is a bar or club nearby that was a little noisy but with the windows closed it wasn't too bad.

Excellent location, Quick check in from friendly English speaking receptionist. Very comfortable bed. Plugs sockets in perfect locations! Great breakfast. 25 mins approx walk from railway station with great views en route. Unsure of parking as didn’t require it.

For me the pillows could do with being replaced as they were a tad lumpy.

This hotel is managed with love, I have to say…the roses in the vases are real…lots of real flower bouquets in the breakfast room, breakfast indeed is sophisticated and excellent. Since there is no escalator because it is a charming old building the manager carried my heavy suitcase up and down the stairs, arranged and packed the taxi ready to go in the morning.

No parking, the interior is a bit retro, lot of noise comes into the room - creaking from the stairs etc.

Clean and tidy rooms in heritage building. Very centrally located in old town, all sights in immediate proximity. Very good breakfast with great variety on offer.

As there is no lift, economy rooms on 4th floor can be a challenge……lower floors as well
