PortoBay Falésia is a lovely resort in Ochos de Água with direct access to the spectacular Falésia beach. The property is quiet and beautifully landscaped, with several patios with views to beach and ocean. We swam in the ocean, played tennis and danced to live bands in the evening. Besides the generous breakfast buffet, we particularly enjoyed our meals in the Italian restaurant- again with live music. It was easy to tour Western Algarve from here, and walk to the village (which has a great Chinese food restaurant !)

This is simply a superb resort. We would strongly recommend anyone visiting Albufeira to stay at this place instead of anywhere within the Albufeira town. It is close enough to the town (15 mins by taxi) to be able to visit anytime you want, and far enough to enjoy its own private beach at Falesia. There are two swimming pools, one outside and one indoors, with jacuzzi. We loved the indoors one during cloudy days. The view from the facility over the cliffs is breathtaking. Only a few flights of stairs lead you to the pristine Falesia Beach, which is almost empty during sunrise hours. The breakfast at the resort is amazing, with a lovely spread, and so are the buffet dinners. If you want something else, you will find a few nice restaurants within 5-10 minutes walking distance. Overall, this is the best resort experience we had in Europe. Highly recommended.

If we nitpick, we will have to say that the Italian restaurant and the night bar on the property are not the best we had. We would expect better cocktails at such a resort. The buffet dinner was honestly better in value and quality over the Italian restaurant. That's all, everything else was amazing.

Amazing breakfast buffet! Great staff, very professional and friendly. Please be patient with them during the off season - probably less people working so they are very busy but trying their hardest. Some guests were quite rude to the workers. Spa services were great, the location and view is amazing. Perfect for a relaxing stay!

There was no option for double beds (the rooms have single beds next to each other so there’s a gap). Maybe if you upgrade the room size.

We loved the location, the facilities, the view, the proximity to the beach, the tennis court… All fantastic.

We asked in advance for a room far from the elevators and on one of the higher floors. This was because we knew we were going to arrive at a late hour and wanted to still have our preferences communicated beforehand. Unfortunately, these were not taken into account at all. We were given a room on the first floor, close to the elevators, completely against our preferences.

Beautiful location with a view to the beach as a backdrop behind the pool and the trees, easy access to the beach, good quality food and nice staff. An oasis!

The hotel could be more kids or youth friendly, it was more for older couples, with quiet jazz music in the evening or two singers in a large room with no atmosphere in the evening although it is true that it is relaxing.

All the staff we came across from reception, breakfast room, pool bar, cleaning staff, concierge were all so friendly and chatty and nothing was a problem! It had a very relaxed vibe about the place, the sun loungers were nicely spaced out. The situation was idyllic. There really was nothing to love about the place.

If I had a concern it would just be that I noticed the boundary fence looked broken at one of the openings to the garden from the pool. It looked like there was quite a drop if a child ran towards the area and slipped.

The hotel grounds offer a breathtaking view of brick-colored canyons and the ocean — a sight you simply never get tired of. It’s just a five-minute walk down the stairs to a spectacular golden beach. The pool is large and clean, perfect for both relaxing and swimming. "Il Basilico" is hands down the best hotel restaurant I’ve experienced. The dinner menu features true standouts, like the seafood risotto — an easy 10/10 — and it’s all served with the best ocean view from its terrace.

Breakfast could have been better, with richer menu and more rotations. The food quality was good, no complaints.

Kid friendly. Breakfast - substantial and lovely! Room - very comfortable and spacious - aircon was a big plus! Pool - fabulous! (side note in "what didn't you like") Pool bar / restaurant - lovely! Gym and indoor pool - newly refurbished and just excellent! This is a huge plus!! (but please ask guests not to bring sand with them, and to clean their machines - yuck! Maybe a sign?) Airport / Hotel transfer ... seriously consider spending a bit more and using the driver / service that's linked with the Portobay hotel. We made a mistake trying a cheaper alternative for the FAO to Hotel portion, and it was a huge mistake! The service returning back to FAO with "Algarve Transfer Link" is the best one we've used, and in future we will not use anyone else. Jose and his wife are excellent! Big thumbs up!

Outdoor showers and feet cleaning taps from beach weren't always working. Pool could do with a bit more maintenance and cleaning. Room 127 sits just above the operational / receiving bay, so we were woken daily from 6am with banging and moving objects beneath us. We are early risers, but this can be improved / avoided.

We loved the hotel. Beautiful scenery, relaxing environment, attentive personel.

I do not think there was something wrong. A Nespresso machine in the room would be a cherry on the cake :)

This hotel is the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in!! The room was spotlessly clean and bright and the beds so comfortable. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to an ocean view suite . Fabulous views and very spacious. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The pool is fabulous, great size for proper swimming and a decent depth throughout . The views from the terrace at il Basilico are stunning .

There are plenty of sunloungers but unfortunately, despite the signs , we found that people were “reserving” early in the morning with their towels and not using them all day. There really is no need to do this as there are plenty of sunloungers .
