Fantastic views. The walk up from the beach is pleasant - a little steep, but not so bad. Calheta beach is close by and has sand.

The restaurant detracts from this delightfully property. The quality and quantity of breakfast food was mediocre to poor, with slow to non existent service. The restaurant only serves a fixed course dinner that needs to be booked in advance, and is very expensive. You can’t get just a typical one or two course meal. Noise from heavy construction work fairly close by.

Exceptional! The website totally undersells this amazing place! Restaurant is fantastic, varying their menu each night with food from the farm and delicious breakfast each morning served to your table. Rooms are surrounded by vines used to produce their wine and beautiful flowers and plants, very comfortable bed, option of booking spa treatments. Staff all excellent, friendly and very attentive. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Drive in/parking slightly tricky at first but did get used to it and staff quick to advise best approach.

We were warmly welcomed to this hotel by friendly and accommodating staff, and were told our room had been upgraded. Our room was beautiful (#5), nestled in the vineyards looking out onto the sea with a feature wall inside looking into lit up cave - the most unique room we’ve ever stayed in! The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we had ever experienced. 95% of the vegetables are grown on site and every dish was delicious. We also had a 3 course dinner at the hotel one evening which was really special. Would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to experience pure relaxation in a peaceful and scenic setting.

Pool wasn’t heated so we didn’t use it which was a shame

These property is like no others we’ve ever seen! Lovingly renovated and updated, it now combines old charm with modern conveniences! It is incredibly unique and memorable! Located on the side of the mountain, blessed with spectacular views,- it also offered elevated dinning experience! The place is huge,- we didn’t realize it until we walked to the top of the mountain and looked down to see all the villas!

The drive up to the place is not for the faint of heart! Luckily, once you are there,- you can walk down to Calheta, or up to the Museum of Contemporary arts,- no need to take the car!

A beautiful stop in Madeira if you want to treat yourself to a boutique, luxury experience - the views from the place and your own room are simply incomparable, the property is beautiful, staff is attentive, breakfast was great. The restaurant was good: traditional dishes made with good technique and local, high quality ingredients, with a tasting menu changing daily. Didn’t feel particularly inventive if new, bold flavours are what you’re after, but it’s worth eating there one night.

Minor points only: the bed was soft, not ideal for back pain. Bathroom was poorly ventilated and it made our room smell musty. Lots of steps if that’s an issue for you, within the property and to the beach. The hotel pool is very small (BUT the Calheta beach is great).

We spent one night at Socalco, as we wanted to visit the Razao restaurant. We appreciated the quality of the food at both dinner and breakfast.

- The staff was not very welcoming - The room was very small - We expected a better view of the ocean - No slippers provided - There was no sauna, which is something you expect from a 4-star hotel - The breakfast variety was limited, there was no buffet or menu. You just receive a fixed selection and can choose what type of eggs you want. Unfortunately, we were not impressed by the facilities and service at Socalco.

Incredible food. Such a cool location. Exceptional view of the sea. Rooms were quaint, but very well supplied. The second room we stayed in, Gruta, was one of the most incredible rooms i've ever seen, built around a cave. Worth the stay alone. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. You absolutely have to stay for dinner, if not you're wasting one of the best meals you could have on the island.

Not enough parking, we had to leave the car elsewhere one night. But for most of the stay there was enough room.

This was one of the most beautiful hotels I have visited. I fell in love with Madeira. But staying at Socalco Natural I now know I will be returning this time next year!!! And I am staying here!! The staff was unbelievable, friendly, kind, attentive… just the best! After 2 days I felt like family!

Just a little bit of miss communication with pricing on their written menus. But when we talked with Miguel, he handled it with so much integrity. I just can’t say enough positive things about this experience!

Everything!! Perfect hotel!! We did our last night at Madeira at the hotel and I am sorry we didn't do the whole week there. You sleep inside a vineyard with a view to the Ocean, they grow most of the food in the property, they have an exceptional breakfast and I recommend making a reservation for their dinner as well to the tables outside. When you come to Madeira this is the plase to stay!!

We had alot of luggage to take and our room was far and had alot of stairs on the way. But still we loved everything about our stay.

Friendly staff, beautiful location, excellent food and view!

The air conditioning was not cooling the room and thus, it was very hot at night and had an impact on our sleep. We did not appreciate one of the waiters to select a white wine for us without showing us the wine card, or saying how much it was. It turned out to be one of the most expensive.
