The view from the hotel and the room is spectacular, room was large and clean. It is a great spot for walking and checking out the immediate location. No regrets about staying here as the location and the view exceeded my expectations. The walk up to the view point starts from just outside the hotel and is an easy but rewarding one. It's easy enough for anyone and take advantage of getting there before the buses start to arrive.
Hotel is a little tired, our room was below an area that has a cafe and gift shop and the soundproofing in the hotel isn't great. Thankfully, it all stopped at 6pm when the gift shop closed. There isn't a proper bar area to go to at the end of the evening. Possibly not the hotel for you if you suffer from vertigo. Parking is free but its basically a public one with people coming and going throughout the day.

We got a really big balcony Breakfast is good The view is once in a lifetime experience i will never forget it and i highly doubt thqt something could beat it Its nice to come during the day but its not the same as staying at the hotel and wake up to it Also the view at night with the orange lights if nuns vally there are no words to disceribe it ,its amazing
The lift did not work for our whole stay if 3 days Really ild blankets The staff could have been more warm we were there almost alone for 3 days The restaurant staff made us faces that we shared a dish and said its not enough for 2 people even though we ate there 3 days lunch and dinner in a row and ordered a lot the rest of times At checkout they told me i need to.pay city tax when i already paid it it wasnt nice, they had one job to see i paid already not telling me that. The poolwas not heated The sauna didnt work

Nice clean room and lovely view from my balcony and terrace. Beautiful view all around. I loved the Spa, again with beautiful views and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. I'd love to come agaiin as I could properly relax.
It is better if you have a car, when you go to stay there longer. I stayed one week and went there for hiking but to walk to the start of most trails iit takes a good 1 to 2 hrs. Apart from the Nun Path that starts right at the hotel and takes you to the village. It is a short pretty and steap trail. There is a bus service to Funchal and Curral but not very often. I found the time table a bit complicated. Around the hotel, there is a good souvenir shop and café that gets quite busy with regular tour busses arriving for the viewing point at the hotel. This is at the font of the hotel but the rooms and balconies are at the back and it is peaceful there, though not as sunny as the front.

Room was big & clean, view was epic! Pay for the view it’s worth it! Staff friendly especially in the restaurant! Restaurant food for dinner & breakfast was delicious! Viewpoint right outside the hotel too… could have stayed for longer with all the facilities inc gym, spa & pool… although we didn’t use any for the 1 night we were there. Souvenir shop next door as well as bar/icecream/cafe place.
The drive up was a bit scary… very narrow, not for the faint hearted but 100% worth it! Coaches visit throughout the day so tourists can see the viewpoint… be careful when passing them.

Surroundings are fantastic. Yes, it is public viewpoint, but rooms are overlooking valley, you get lots of privacy and views from a room. Stayed there for a night to enjoy views at different time of day and don’t regret it. It also gives better opportunity to get clear view without clouds and viewpoint is short walk away
Was reading comments about restaurant and decided not to take dinner there, there weren’t many people there either. Menu looked good however. Comments about breakfast were right - not so great. Went right at opening and hot dishes were barely warm already then and it didn’t seem to be replenished.

The view from our rooms was amazing — pictures can’t capture it. We could also enjoy the view from the nice swimming pool area, and from a popular viewpoint a short walk from the hotel. The hotel is a nice starting point for other walks, e.g. down the beautiful corral to the village below. There is a touristic outlet adjacent to the hotel. The hotel restaurant offers decent food both for dinner and breakfast. Staff is friendly, helpful and competent. Public transport offers are limited, but you will get to Funchal in short time with car or taxi. I highly recommend this hotel.
Nothing not to like here! :-)

Stunning location with fabulous views. Room was fine with an enclosed balcony so we could sit there in the evening and enjoy the views. Great walk down to the village below, slightly harder walk back up but well worth it.
Has the potential of being excellent, but some things were a bit strange. You had to pay 2 euros a day extra to use the fridge in our room, which never got very cold anyway. Breakfast was basic and cooked food cold. Didn’t use the pool but it looked ok but strong smell of chlorine put us off.

The views of our room were beautiful. Room 201. Had a balcony with seating and table and a little room before the balcony with sofa, table and chairs. Had restaurant which had amazing views also. Also connected to a shop with food, drinks and souvenirs. Drive up was intimidating but lovely - just be slow and careful as can be narrow as well as large tourist buses go through the same route for view point for other tourists.
No air conditioning as it gets humid and warm. Asked for fans but they did not offer. Bed is not very secure, little movement can bang it against the wall.

The room was spacious and had a patio and an outside sitting area. The pool and whirlpool were very much appreciated after a hot day of hiking. The resort is very isolated in the clouds (at times) with a wonderful view of Nun's Valley below. Breakfast was very nice and the restaurant was top notch.
Being perched on the edge of a cliff 1,100 metres above sea level is great but it is a bit of a commute to Funchal and other restaurants and activities.

The views were spectacular! The restaurant food was great. The pool and jacuzzi were nice. Loved the towel warmers in the shower and the bathrobes that came with the room. The beds were the most comfortable on the island. Loved that each room had a balcony overlooking the Valley of the Nuns.
The wifi didn't work the second night of our stay, hotel staff blamed it on the fog. There is barely any cell phone reception in the hotel, so there was no way to communicate with the outside world that night. Although the jacuzzi was a great touch, the water wasn't very hot. And although the restaurant food was great, it was one of the most expensive places that we dined at on the island, and it was not worth the money spent.
