Beautiful site and tranquil nature surrounding. Located high up in the mountains so it’s cooler here. Large indoor pool. Friendly staff. Half board included 4 course gourmet meals most evenings, buffet meals on some. Quality of food was excellent, organic and local. Gluten and dairy intolerance were accommodated by the chef with specifically tailored menu. Fresh fruit in the rooms was a nice touch. Free shuttle service provided to Funchal day trips. Not really for young children but teens were suitable entertained here.

The gym could do with a water fountain. The location was a bit tricky to get to once left the VR roads (main roads) and the new tunnels. Some of the local streets are very steep and narrow, a good car and confined driving ability a must. Once you get to know the location it’s not a problem.

We stayed for 23 days in this hotel. The room was spacious and the beds were excellent. The breakfast is good with many options. The food in the bar and restaurant is also very good. Knowing that the food is organic makes it very special. The location is great and quiet and the very large garden is a big bonus. The swimming pool is large and with good temperature . The staff does everything to make you feel good especially Francisco from the restaurant and Johanna from housekeeping. Also the ladies from the reception are very kind and helpful. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

We loved the elegance and grace of this older-style hotel, located on a large estate with beautifully manicured gardens high up in the mountains. Our room with balcony was spacious and modern, the bathroom was high-end with bidet, marble counters and floors. The bed was the most comfortable of all the accommodation we had experienced in Madeira. There was a wonderful indoor pool and sauna which contributed to our enjoyment. The breakfast was superb, with many interesting options and copious quantities. We loved our stay here, it was a wonderfully tranquil retreat.

The hotel has a huge and beautiful garden, pool, sauna, saloons and bars, everything is really comfortable and nice. The place is very calm and friendly. Great place to stay for someone who wants to stay aside from the main tourist centers with the hassle and noise.

The level of service is very dependent on the particular person, varying from great to poor. For the half-board guest, the dinner is served as a fixed four-course menu, but the food is rather medium at best, sometimes even simply bad, something I wouldn´t expect at a hotel of this level.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Hotel is very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is amazing! Spa facilities are very good. Usually the guests are older and respectful. Well worth the stay.

Not that I didn't like, it is something that can be improved. The jacuzzi was not working properly and I felt the springs of the mattress. Minor details that overall did not impact the stay.

The rooms were very clean, housing staff was so nice and cleaned my room every day really well! Everyone is so welcoming and I loved the layout of my room. I can’t say enough good things about this place, it was out of the was of busy tourist places and just a short drive to Funchal. I would definitely stay there again!

Maybe the water pressure in the bath/shower could be a bit stronger but this is not a dislike. Just an observation

Amazing nature, stunning flowers, a court, a pool and billiards are pleasant activities

The cuisine leaves much to be desired - for all the diversity of blue breakfasts, they are the same and quickly get boring

Very quiet, in woodland with own extensive gardens. Impeccably clean, balcony overlooking trees, pool, sauna, amazing fresh breakfast in beautiful restaurant.

Not enough tea, coffee and milk to the room. I would expect this to be inclusive each day. The restaurant coffee wasn’t so good. Not enough info in the rooms e.g menus.

Extremely comfortable hotel with an excellent restaurant and a cozy bar. Also posted information on the various hiking trails.

Had to go to the dining room to get a bar tender and the game room could have been a bit warmer
