The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The room we had was tidy and spacious. The catering provided was varied and tasty,including the breakfast that was provided. The hotel was situated in a quiet spot. it only cost €10 to get a taxi down to Funchal and the hotel did provide a regular bus down on Monday to Friday The views across the bay were beautiful

Although the swimming pool was said to be heated , it was only 24 degrees,which was too cold for us to swim in. The walk to Funchal was around 35 minutes down a very steep hill. The walk back up was tough ,involving very steep hills.

The facilities were excellent, but what truly stood out for us was the staff. Everyone was exceptional—helpful, attentive, and always in good spirits. The pool was well-maintained, with towels and deckchairs readily available at any time of day. We also had access to the sauna. The hotel is situated away from the town center, making it peaceful and quiet. We loved the garden as well!

We loved everything, but if we had to be critical, we would mention the small water glasses at breakfast (about 150ml). We found ourselves needing to refill our water quite frequently during the meal.

Room very comfortable and in peaceful area, excellent breakfast including making items specially requested. The majority of the staff very helpful and polite. Good pool area beds always available. Shuttle bus system to Funchal worked very well but you do need to book in advance both ways. Also we ate one night at the a la carte restaurant which was excellent.

Food in general was good but did have a few issues with pool bar, one night I had the swordfish which was very dry and overcooked when mentioned I got no reaction or apology. For information the a la carte restaurant does not open on a Tuesday evening, we were not informed of this until we tried to book and there is no mention of it in any of the room information pack.

Stunning grounds and pool. Beautifully presented rooms and facilities. A grand hotel.

The restaurant was prohibitively expensive within the hotel. We decided to eat elsewhere as a result.

Quiet,clean, all staff caring and pleasant

Difficult to find anything to not like! But the pack lunch was disappointing. (White bread sandwiches when there were any number of different breads and rolls for breakfast).

Peaceful family run, 200 yr old Quinta out of the ‘holiday strip hotels’ with all modern conveniences. wonderful large suite and beautiful gardens. Full of antiques and paintings. Excellent food and superb staff. Choice of three places to eat in hotel grounds including separate al a carte restaurant.Hotel runs a minibus to Town . Old fashioned ‘colonial’ charm. absolute gem.

Nothing for me-(but I suggest it would not appeal to families with younger children as is set up for peaceful relaxation and an older demographic . not a playground, jungle gym or water slide in sight.)

I loved this place: it’s very charming, with lovely grounds, a view out to sea, a tennis court and a nice swimming pool. The room was spacious, the staff were really nice, and the food in the restaurant was good. The setting is ideal for relaxation.

The wifi was a bit poor, and it was hard to avoid cigarette smoke from other balconies & in the outdoor restaurant.

Beautiful residence and beautiful gardens with truly amazing staff

The pathways were a little difficult to walk along because of the cobblestone. It would be quite hard going for people who have mobility difficulties.
