A very nice little Hotel in a very quiet street but super near to the city center. I guess we were the only ones using the pool (and being in the hotel during day), we liked that very much.

When we booked we should have been more careful about the room: with a view or not, with a kitchen or without... and so on... We got another room where we could open the door and see the ocean, that was nice, but to let the light through the window was not possible because people were walking by the window, the same with the door. so we had to decide between being private or have the others have a look on our bed. We also did not book breakfast (see above) but it was possible to have, that was nice. On our way to and in the city we found some very good places to eat in the morning.

We were a group travelling for a week, and Pedro who is running the place and the staff did everything they could to make it a pleasant stay, helping us to arrange dinners at restaurants, book taxis for hikes etc. The breakfast was great for our limited budget, and they arranged it a bit earlier for us on a day, when we had to leave early for a hike in the mountains. The little, heated pool was wonderful for a morning swim and a dip in the afternoon after a long hike. The location, a few kilometres outside the city centre was perfect for us. The terraces are with a great view over the sea, because of the distance to the bigger hotels.

We really enjoyed it all.

As we had a room with the balcony, the view to the city Funchal and the ocean was great. Very nice and friendly staff. We got lots of info about the island, where to go and what to see. Lovely breakfast out on the balcony every morning. (Although the variety could have changed a bit during the week). It wasn’t too crowded since it’is a small guesthouse not big hotel, so it made us feel like home 🙂

The room was a bit outworn. Pillows and mattresses could use a replacement.

It's a quiet place where you can enjoy nice view during breakfast. Staff was very nice, polite, kind and helpful. Breakfast was mostly the same, but there were many choices so it was possible to eat something different every day. They helped us the last day with our luggage, we left the room at 11:00, they stored our stuff and we went to wander around Funchal for our last day.

Other guests were a bit noisy but that is not a problem of the accomodation, but I think they should warn guests to be respectful of other people trying to sleep.

We rented a standard studio with kitchen which had an amazing view on the ocean with beautiful sunrises -this really exceeded our expectations:) For us parking was important and we could always easily park in the street, 1-3 mins walking distance. We never walked to the city centre but used the car to go there in the evenings and parked in the shopping mall (we spent only the evenings/nights in Funchal). Kitchen was well equipped, bed was comfortable, the apartment was clean, staff were nice and helpful, the street was very quiet at night,we were satisfied with everything. (We did not ask for breakfast so not sure how is it).

It was very noisy when they used the water in the neighbour room, it even woke me up at night.

In recovering a rucksack misplaced by me in the centre of Funchal, Pedro, the owner-manager, went way beyond the standards of service so often praised in these comments. For those who want accommodation essentially alfresco rather than within an air-conditioned concrete box - the Vila Lusitânia is the place to stay. Its location, contraction and facilities are in harmony with Madeira's unique climate and geology. Where better to practise dolce far niete than on the sunlit terrace next to the swimming pool, with its wide sea view, and a book taken from the little library next to the reception?

For me there is nothing to complain about.

Good accommodations, rooms are cleaned every day, quality/price is worth it.

On the first days we went out of toilet paper and they didn’t refill it with room service + the trash haven’t been cleaned, but the day after I asked about it and the problem was solved right away.

Perfect location and a beautiful view from the terrace. A short walk to a lot of good restaurants. The staff were friendly, helpful and gave us great restaurant recommendations.

Breakfast is good but it could be improved and lines avoided by allowing self service instead of staff serving you.

Almost perfect location, nice and peaceful region, you can walk to the center of Funchal in 30 minutes. Our room was checked and towels changed every day. Breaksfast options are fair for guest house..

Very noisy from construction workers and from neighbors strongly after 23PM almost every night. Room needs some repairs, windows cracked, walls with marks and mold grows in the shower.

Good location and good breakfast. Spacious room. Location is close to very good restaurants and you can go there in 10 min by foot. Good view from the terrace. Heated pool. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Noise insulation in the rooms could be better.
